  • Lee (2010) developed a confidence interval for the difference of binomial proportions in two doubly sampled data subject to false-positive errors. The confidence interval seems to be adequate for a general double sampling model subject to false-positive misclassification. However, in many applications, the false-positive error rates could be the same. On this note, the construction of asymptotic confidence interval is considered when the false-positive error rates are common. The coverage behaviors of nine likelihood based confidence intervals are examined. It is shown that the confidence interval based Rao score with the expected information has good performance in terms of coverage probability and expected width.

  • In this paper, a high-speed CMOS Image Sensor (CIS) based on a 10-bit two step Single Slope A/D Converter (SS-ADC) is proposed. The A/D converter is composed of both 5-bit coarse ADC and a 6-bit fine ADC, and the conversion speed is 10 times faster than that of the single-slope A/D convertor. In order to reduce the pixel noise, further, a Hybrid Correlated Double Sampling (H-CDS) is also discussed. The proposed A/D converter has been fabricated with 0.13um 1-poly 4-metal CIS process, and it has a QVGA ($320{\times}240$) resolution. The fabricated chip size is $5mm{\times}3mm$, and the power consumption is about 35 mW at 3.3 V supply voltage. The measured conversion speed is 10 us, and the frame rate is 220 frames/s.

  • On designing the rectifying inspection plans of double sampling, the relations of the sample sizes $n_1$, $n_2$ and the acceptance numbers $c_1$, $c_2$ are obtained by using the Chi-square distribution. As the average number of pieces inspected per lot is a function of $c_1$ and $c_2$, the optimal solution is the values of $c_1^*$ and $c_2^*$ for which the average amount of inspection is a minimum. Then the values of $n_1^*$ and $n_2^*$ are easily obtained from the equations given by ($n_1$, $n_2$) and ($c_1$, $c_2$).

  • This paper presents the design of a low-voltage wide-band switched-capacitor (SC) filter for wireless communication receiver applications. The filter is the 5th-order Elliptic lowpass filter. With the clock frequency of 50MHz implying that an effective sampling frequency is 100MHz with double sampling scheme, the cut-off frequency of the filter is programmable to be 1.25MHz, 2.5MHz, 5MHz and 10MHz. For low-power systems powered by a single-cell battery, the SC filter was elaborately designed to operate at 1.2V power supply. Simulation result shows that the 3rd-order input intercept point (IIP3) can be up to 27dBm. The filter was fabricated in a $0.25-{\mu}m$ 1P5M standard CMOS technology and measured frequency responses show good agreement with the simulation ones. The current consumption is 34mA at a 1.2V power supply.

  • Recently, the traffic noise around residences and schools has become a serious social problem with the increase of the amount of transportation. This study was performed to investigate the sound proof efficiency of windows for traffic noise. The results were as follows 1) The traffic noise in 19 sites among 22 sampling sites was higher value than 65 dB(A) being roadside environment standard level in the daytime when all windows were opened, while the noise in 22 sampling sites was transmitted below standard level when all windows were closed. 2) The transmission loss of sound level at single window and double windows were 10~25 dB(A) and 11~29 dB(A) respectively. 3) The transmission loss of sound level at sampled school with sound proof pannel was 7~8 dB (A), which was lower 2~7 dB(A) than the theoretical value of the influence assessment . 4) The construction cost of double windows was lower 28% even if include the cost of setting up air conditioner for the summer season and the power consuming cost for its operation than that of sound proof pannel for traffic noise. 5) The effect of transmission loss of windows was more influenced by airtight than materials of windows.

  • In this paper we have considered the problem of estimating the population mean $\bar{Y}$ of the study variable y using auxiliary information in presence of non-response. Classes of estimators for $\bar{Y}$ in the presence of non-response on the study variable y only and complete response on the auxiliary variable x is available, have been proposed in different situations viz., (i) population mean $\bar{X}$ is known, (ii) when population mean $\bar{X}$ and variance $S^2_x$ are known; (iii) when population mean $\bar{X}$ is not known: and (iv) when both population mean $\bar{X}$ and variance $S^2_x$ are not known: single and two-phase (or double) sampling. It has been shown that various estimators including usual unbiased estimator and the estimators reported by Rao (1986), Khare and Srivastava (1993, 1995) and Tabasum and Khan (2006) are members of the proposed classes of estimators. The optimum values of the first phase sample size n', second phase sample size n and the sub sampling fraction 1/k have been obtained for the fixed cost and the fixed precision. To illustrate foregoing, we have carried out an empirical investigation to reflect the relative performance of all the potentially competing estimators including the one due to Hansen and Hurwitz (1946) estimator, Rao (1986) estimator, Khare and Srivastava (1993, 1995) and Tabasum and Khan (2006) estimator.

  • The double-density discrete wavelet transform(DWT) is an improvement upon the critically sampled DWT with important additional properties. It employs one scaling function and two distinct wavelets, which are designed to be offset from one another by one half. And it is overcomplete by a factor of two. Also, this transformation is nearly shift-invariant. But there is room for improvement because not all of the wavelets are directional. That is, although the double-density DWT utilizes more wavelets, some lack a dominant spatial orientation, which prevents them from being able to isolate those directions. Proposed method is a DWT that combines the double-density DWT and quincunx sampling, each of which has its own characteristics and advantages. Especially, the quincunx sampling treats the different directions more homogeneously. As a result, since proposed method can generate sub-images of multiple degrees rotated versions, this method provides an improved performance in image processing fields.

  • This paper analyses the characteristics of incomplete-journey double-circuit transmission lines on the same tower formed by single-circuit lines and double-circuit lines, and then presents a fault location algorithm based on identification of fault branch. With the relationship between the three-phase system and the double-circuit line system, a phase-mode transformation matrix for double-circuit lines can be derived. Based on the derived matrix, the double-circuit lines with faults can be decoupled, and then the fault location for an incomplete-journey double-circuit line is achieved by using modal components in the mode domain. The algorithm is divided into two steps. Firstly, the fault branch is identified by comparing the relationships of voltage amplitudes at the bonding point. Then the fault location, on the basis of the identification result, is calculated by using a two-terminal method, and only the fault distance of the actual fault branch can be obtained. There is no limit on synchronization of each terminal sampling data. The results of ATP-EMTP simulation show that the proposed algorithm can be applied within the entire line and can accurately locate faults in different fault types, fault resistances, and fault distances.

  • Variance estimation for the regression estimator for a two-phase sample is investigated. A replication variance estimator with number of replicates equal to or slightly larger than the size of the second-phase sample is developed. In these cases, the proposed method is asymptotically equivalent to the full jackknife, but uses smaller number of replications.
