Double scale models have been introduced in elementary mathematics textbooks under the 2015 revised mathematics curriculum. However, few studies have examined in detail how students understand or utilize such models. In this study, we analyzed how 154 sixth-grade students who had learned the division of fractions from textbooks containing double scale models understood such models. The results showed that the students tended to identify the components of the model relatively well, but had difficulties exploring the unit or the meaning of the bottom number line of a model. They also had a lot of difficulties using the double scale model to complete the computation process and explain the computation principle. Based on these findings, we discuss the implications of teaching double scale models.

We propose a wavelength filter based on long-range surface plasmon-polaritons (LR-SPP) supported by a asymmetric doubleelectrode LR-SPP structure. For the case of the asymmetric double-layered LR-SPP waveguide, LR-SPPs exist with a much broader range of index mismatches between core and clad materials. Thus, the asymmetric double-electrode LR-SPP waveguide is adequate to form a plasmonic band-gap device as we report in this paper by studying Bragg-reflection wavelength filter based on it. The structure for wavelength filter operating telecommunications wavelength is designed by using the method of line (MoL) and the transfer matrix method. The fabricated device shows a relatively high extinction ratio of 50 dB with a bandwidth of 2 nm, and the performance is very consistent with numerical simulations.

In this paper, two types of $2\times2$ Rx/Tx microstrip patch antenna are proposed to implement Ku-band satellite communications. The single-fed dual resonance patch antenna as the first type derives perpendicular polarizations at two resonant frequencies from a single patch radiator, using aperture coupling via a bended single-feeding line and a cross-shaped slot. The double-fed dual resonance patch antenna as the second type implements dual resonance with mutually orthogonal polarizations by mixing the two feeding mechanisms of the microstrip line and the aperture coupling. Especially, in the double-fed dual resonance antenna case, air-gap is introduced to broaden the bandwidth. Through measurement, each of the two types of antenna was verified to function properly both Rx and Tx. The double-fed dual resonance antenna shows excellent performance in the bandwidth and the crosspolarization characteristics.

A new gerbera cultivar 'Lovely Moon' was released by the National Institute of Horticultural & Herbal Science (NIHHS) in 2008. A cross was made between 'Sever Line' and 'Angel' with yellow and semi-double flower in 2005. After investigation of the characteristics for four years (from 2005 to 2008), it was selected specially for the use of cut flowers. 'Lovely Moon' is a vigorous cultivar with yellow (RHS Y13B), yellow green center and semi-double flower. The average flower diameter is 12.7 cm, a large flower. And inner ray floret and disc diameter are 6.10 cm and 2.80 cm, respectively. It produces a large number of flowers with continuous supply of flowers and has a long peduncle height. We believe that 'Lovely Moon' has a great potential for expanding cultivated area of domestic gerbera cultivars and increasing farm income.

The modified Canny edge detection algorithm that can detect the boundary between screen door and platform in the subway is proposed in this paper. Generally, in the subway, the boundary line between the platform and the screen door is darker than the surrounding area. Therefore, an edge image is using the modified bottom-hat transform by considering its characteristics. Double thresholded images with strong edge and weak edge through double thresholding are obtained. An algorithm that detects the boundary invasion between the platform and the screen door is proposed by calculating the length by applying the Hough transform to the double thresholded image and comparing the boundary line length between when there is an object such as a person and when there is no object. In this paper, the results of the proposed modified Canny edge detection algorithm using two different input images according to camera height position are shown by computer simulation.

The narrative of the film, Sweet Smell of Success has a multi-layered structure. In Clifford Odets's scenario work, numerous lines for the main plot and subplots repeated a cycle of creation, decomposition, deletion, and modification to enhance the density of the story. As a result, whenever an actor spoke a line or paused, an action or an event that would trigger another line was created, giving depth and persuasiveness to the character's performance. The music of Sweet Smell of Success has multi-layered elements. The non-diegetic music was covered by the orchestral pieces performed by Elmer Bernstein's big band orchestra and the jazz pieces performed by Fred Katz's combo band. The diegetic music was mostly covered by the jazz pieces performed by the Chico Hamilton Quintet. The practical task of the film music was to reinforce or supplement the effect of the narrative driver, and the additional task was to realize the estrangement effect and the aesthetics of stagnation. The possibility and significance of intertextuality of subplots and double sound of this film are not simply confined to the limits of the film noir genre.

This study derives the expressions of vector gravity and gravity gradient tensor due to an elliptical cylinder. The vector gravity for an arbitrary three-dimensional (3D) body is obtained by differentiating the gravitational potential, including the triple integral, according to the shape of the body in each axis direction. The vector gravity of the 3D body with axial symmetry is integrated along the axial direction and reduced to a double integral. The complex Green's theorem using complex conjugates subsequently converts the double integral into a one-dimensional (1D) closed-line integral. Finally, the vector gravity due to the elliptical cylinder is derived using 1D numerical integration by parameterizing a boundary of the elliptical cross-section as a closed line. Similarly, the gravity gradient tensor due to the elliptical cylinder is second-order differentiated from the gravitational potential, including the triple integral, and integrated along the vertical axis direction reducing it to a double integral. Consequently, all the components of the gravity gradient tensor due to an elliptical cylinder are derived using complex Green's theorem as used in the case of vector gravity.

Background: Controlled hypotension (CH) provides a better surgical environment and reduces operative time. However, there are some risks related to organ hypoperfusion. The EV1000/FloTrac system can provide continuous cardiac output monitoring without the insertion of pulmonary arterial catheter. The present study investigated the efficacy of this device in double jaw surgery under CH. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of patients who underwent double jaw surgery between 2010 and 2015. Patients were administered conventional general anesthesia with desflurane; CH was performed with remifentanil infusion and monitored with an invasive radial arterial pressure monitor or the EV1000/FloTrac system. We allocated the patients into two groups, namely an A-line group and an EV1000 group, according to the monitoring methods used, and the study variables were compared. Results: Eighty-five patients were reviewed. The A-line group reported a higher number of failed CH (P = 0.005). A significant correlation was found between preoperative hemoglobin and intraoperative packed red blood cell transfusion (r = 0.525; P < 0.001). In the EV1000 group, the mean arterial pressure (MAP) was significantly lower 2 h after CH (P = 0.014), and the cardiac index significantly decreased 1 h after CH (P = 0.001) and 2 h after CH (P = 0.007). Moreover, venous oxygen saturation (ScVO₂) decreased significantly at both 1 h (P = 0.002) and 2 h after CH (P = 0.029); however, these values were within normal limits. Conclusion: The EV1000 group reported a lower failure rate of CH than the A-line group. However, EV1000/FloTrac monitoring did not present with any specific advantage over the conventional arterial line monitoring when CH was performed with the same protocol and same mean blood pressure. Preoperative anemia treatment will be helpful to decrease intraoperative transfusion. Furthermore, ScVO₂ monitoring did not present with sufficient benefits over the risk and cost.

The purpose of this study is to investigate how elementary school students understand and use the number line relating number concept and what is the main problem in the learning process. For the efficient achievement of this purpose, we investigated how the number line metaphor is related to the number concept and considered the role of the number line on Freudenthal's number concept teaching theory. The test conducted to find the degree of understanding and difficulty on using the number line by actual elementary school students consisted of two questions ; to find appropriate number corresponding to the given number on the number line and to identify contents of chapters about the use of number line on each grade. It was found that many students couldn't solve the problem represented by the number line though they could solve the problem represented by other ways such as number track and pictures. The only difference between the two problems was the way of representation, and they had same contents and structure. This study tried to figure out the meaning of this phenomenon. Also, by using various teaching-learning method (number track, pictures, empty number line, and double number line etc.), this study was aimed to provide the way to help learning 'related number concept' and to solve the difficulty on understanding the number line.

1차년도에서 이미 확립한 다양한리포좀의 제조 방법에 따라간세포를표 적하기 위해 이들 리포좀의 조성에 galactocercbroside를 함유시켜 targeted liposomes을 제조하였다. 표적리포좀의 제조 방법에 따른 봉합율 (cncapsulation)과 안정성을 조사했을 때, freezing-thawing 과정을 거친 리포좀이 encapsulation 과 stability가 가장 뛰어남을 알 수 있었다. In vitro 간세포 표적능력을 in vitro cell culture system에서 간세포 cell line (Hep G2, 2.2.15과 다른 cell line (Vero E6, J82)에 대한 표적리포좀과 control liposomes의 uptake를 FTTC 또는 CF 형광으로 측정했을 때, 표적리포좀이 간세포 cell line에 더 많이 uptake하는 것을 알았다. In vivo 실험에서는 6 - 8 주령의 mouse tail vain에 표적리포좀과 control liposomes을 주사하여 각 장기에 존재하는 리포좀의 양을 형광으로 측정했을 때, 표적리포좀 (targetcd liposomes)이 다른 장기에 비해 liver에 선택적으로 많이 분포함을 알수있었다. 또한 간암의 효과적인 치료를 위해 간세포와 암세포를 동시에 표적할 수는 double targeting liposomes을 design 하였다.
