Endovascular Treatment of Aneurysms Arising from the Proximal Segment of the Anterior Cerebral Artery

  • Objective : Aneurysms arising from the proximal segment of the anterior cerebral artery (A1) are rare and challenging to treat. The aim of this study was to report our experience with endovascular treatment of A1 Aneurysms. Methods : From August 2007 through May 2012, eleven A1 aneurysms in eleven patients were treated endovascularly. Six aneurysms were unruptured and 5 were ruptured. One patient with an unruptured A1 aneurysm presented with subarachnoid hemorrhage due to rupture of an anterior communicating artery aneurysm. Procedural data, clinical and angiographic results were reviewed retrospectively. Results : All of the aneurysms were successfully treated with coil embolization. Six were treated with a simple technique while the remaining 5 required adjunctive technique : double catheters (n=2), balloon-assisted (n=2), and stent-assisted (n=1). The immediate angiographic control showed a complete occlusion in all cases. Procedure-related complication occurred in only one patient : parent artery occlusion, which was not clinically significant. All patients had excellent clinical outcomes but one patient was discharged with a slight disability. No neurologic deterioration or bleeding was seen during the follow-up period in this cohort of patients. Follow-up angiography (mean, 20 months) was available in ten patients and revealed stable occlusion in all cases. Conclusion : Endovascular treatment is a feasible and effective therapeutic modality for A1 aneurysms. Tailored microcatheter shaping and/or adjunctive techniques are necessary for successful aneurysm embolization because of the projection and location of A1 aneurysms.

영구전류모드 운전을 위한 coated conductor의 가공 및 자석 제조 (Fabrication method of persistent mode superconducting coils using tailored coated conductor)

  • Coated conductors suitable for the fabrication of persistent mode high $T_c$ magnets are suggested and the fabrication method of persistent mode magnets using coated conductor are demonstrated. Persistent current was observed in a small piece of coated conductor. Closed loop of coated conductor with a diameter of around 1 em was successfully prepared and was cooled with a magnetic field of about 500 Gauss in order to induce supercurrent. Coated conductor with a $I_c$ of 100 A/cm-width was used for the preparation of closed loop of coated conductor. Persistent current was confirmed by measuring the magnetic field generated from closed loop of coated conductor by using Gauss meter. Magnetic field of 4.4 Gauss was detected from the supercurrent of closed loop of coated conductor. It shows that superconducting joint of coated conductor is not a prerequisite for the construction of persistent mode magnets. It is thought that this work opens the possibility to use coated conductor for the construction of persistent mode high $T_c$ magnets for MRI, NMR and magnetic separation applications.

Visualization and Flowfield Measurements of the Vortical Flow over a Double-Delta Wing

  • The vortical flow of a 65-deg flat plate delta wing with a leading edge extension(LEX) was examined through off-surface visualization, 5-hole probe and hot-film measurements. The off-surface flow visualization technique used micro water droplets generated by a home-style ultrasonic humidifier and a laser beam sheet. The angles of attack ranged from 10 to 30 degrees, and the sideslip angles ranged from 0 to -15 degrees. The Reynolds number was $1.82{\times}10^5$ for the flow visualization, and $1.76{\times}10^6$ for the 5-hole probe and hot-film measurements. The comparison of the visualization photos and the flow field measurement showed that the two results were in a good agreement for the relative position and the structure of the wing and LEX vortices, even though the flow Reynolds numbers of the two results were much different. The wing vortex and the LEX vortex coil each other while maintaining a comparable strength and identity at zero sideslip. Neither a looping of the wing vortex around the strake vortex, nor the lopsided coiling of the stronger strake and the weaker wing vortices was observed. At non-zero sideslip, the downward movement of the LEX vortex when going downstream was enhanced on the windward side, and the downward and inboard movement of the LEX vortex when going downstream was suppressed on the leeward side. The counterclockwise coiling of the wing and LEX vortices was decreased significantly on the leeward side.

감귤류 펙틴 용액의 리올리지 특성 (Rheological Properties of Citrus Pectin Solutions)

  • 고유점도가 3.75 dL/g인 감귤류 펙틴 용액의 전단점도 및 점탄성에 대한 농도의존성을 연구하였다. 전형적인 자수법칙 흐름 현상이 2.0% 이상의 펙틴 농도에서 관찰되었으며, 전단점도의 전단속도 의존성은 농도의 증가에 따라 더욱 뚜렷하게 나타났다. ${\eta}_{sp.o}$$C[\eta]$를 양대수 좌표에 그렸을 때 묽은 영역에서 진한 영역으로의 전이를 나타내는 $C^{*}[\eta]$는 약 4.0이었으며, 이때 ${\eta}_{sp.o}$의 값은 약 10.0을 나타내었다. 묽은 용액$(C[\eta]과 진한 용액$(C[\eta]>C^{*}[\eta])$에서 ${\eta}_{sp.o}$ $C[\eta]$의 기울기는 각각 1.1과 4.5였다. 전단점도를 ${\eta}/{\eta_0}$${\gamma}/{\gamma}_{0.8}$에 대하여 그렸을 때 $2{\sim}5%$의 농도에서는 잘 중첩되었으나, 6%의 고농도에서는 중첩곡선에서 벗어나는 현상을 보였다. 펙틴 용액의 점탄성을 조사한 결과 전 농도범위에서 손실탄성률$(G^{\prime\prime})$의 값이 저장탄성률$(G^\prime)$보다 훨씬 높은 값을 보여 점성이 전체 점탄성을 지배하는 것으로 나타났다. 저 농도에서 전단점도는 복소점도와 거의 비슷한 값을 보여 Cox-Merz 법칙에 잘 부합하였으나, 농도가 높아질수록 두 값은 차이를 보였다.

  • In this paper, we investigated the. characteristics of fault current limiting according to fault angle in the integrated three-phase flux-lock type SFCL in fault types such as the single-line-to-ground fault, the double-line-to-ground fault and the three-line-to-ground fault. When the SFCL is operating under normal condition, the magnetic flux generated between primary and secondary coils of each single phase is canceled out perfectly, so that the impedance of the SFCL is also not generated and the power system can be operated normally without any loss, However, if a fault occurs even in any phase out of three phases, quench happened in SFCL elements and the current flowing secondary coil is restricted abruptly. Finally, the balance of magnetic flux in whole SFCL system is destroyed, and the fault currents in every phase could be limited at the same time irrespective of the fault types. As a result, the developed SFCL in this study were operated normally as expected and the purpose of the integration of 3 phase current limiting was also achieved successfully. However, the fault current limiting characteristics of the SFCL was dependant on the quench characteristics of HTSC elements in each phase, and it was expected that the improvement of the SFCL could be possible through the introduction of HTSC elements which have better critical characteristics.

PSC 내부 텐던의 긴장력 관리를 위한 저전압 EM 센싱 기법 (Low-Voltage EM(Elasto-Magnetic) Sensing Technique for Tensile Force Management of PSC(Prestressed Concrete) Internal Tendon)

  • 본 논문에서는 안정적인 전력공급이 어려운 실제 현장에 적용하기 위해서 PSC 내부 텐던의 긴장력 관리를 위한 저전압 EM센싱기법을 검증하였다. 지난 국내외 PSC 구조물 사고 사례를 볼 수 있듯이, 공용간 구조적 안정성을 확보하기 위해서는 PS텐던의 긴장력 관리가 매우 중요함을 알 수 있었다. 이에 본 논문에서는 EM센서를 통해 탄성-자기이론을 기반한 강자성체의 자기변형과 응력의 관계를 이용하여 전압 크기에 따른 긴장력에 대한 자기이력곡선을 계측하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 이중 원통코일형태의 EM센서를 제작하고 유압식 인장기를 이용한 PS텐던 인장 실험 장비를 구성하였다. 실험은 단계적으로 전압을 감소시켜 긴장력 크기에 따른 자기이력곡선의 변화를 계측하면서 최대/최소 전압값에 대한 계측결과에 따른 투자율의 변화와 긴장력의 관계를 비교 분석하였다. 그 결과, 전압이 감소하여 자기장의 크기가 작아짐에 따라 추정식에 대한 상수는 상이하지만 유사한 형태의 자기이력곡선 투자율의 변화를 확인할 수 있었다. 이를 통해 본 연구에서는 저전압 상태에서 EM센싱기법을 이용한 PSC 내부 텐던에 대한 긴장력 관리가 가능할 것으로 판단된다.
