  • This paper propose DA-UDC(Double Authentication User, Device, Cross) Module which solves the cost problem and the appropriation of Certificate using User Authentication, Device Authentication and Cross Authentication with OTA(One Time Authentication) Key, and which is designed not to subscribe to the service of Home network business. Home Server transmits its public key which is needed to create OTA to the user which passed the first step of authentication which verifies User ID, Device ID and Session Key. And it performs the second step of authentication process which verifies the OTA key created by a user. Whenever the OTA key of DA-UDC module is generated, the key is designed to be changed. Therefore, DA-UDC Module prevents the exposure of User and Device ID by performing the two steps of authentication and enhances the authentication security of Home Network from malicious user with OTA key. Also, DA-UDC Module is faster than the existing authentication system in processing speed because it performs authentication calculation only once. Though DA-UDC Module increases data traffic slightly because of the extra authentication key, it enhances the security more than the existing technique.

  • In this paper, we propose a nonlinear maximum average correlation height (MACH) filter for information authentication of photon counting double random phase encryption (DRPE). To enhance the security of DRPE, photon counting imaging can be applied because of its sparseness. However, under severely photon-starved conditions, information authentication of DRPE may not be implemented successfully. To visualize the photon counting DRPE, a three-dimensional imaging technique such as integral imaging can be used. In addition, a nonlinear MACH filter can be utilized for helping the information authentication. Therefore, in this paper, we use integral imaging and nonlinear MACH filter to implement the information authentication of photon counting DRPE. To verify our method, we implement optical experiments and computer simulation.

  • The double-random phase encryption (DRPE) algorithm is a robust technique for image encryption, due to its high speed and encoding a primary image to stationary white noise. Recently it was reported that DRPE in the Fresnel domain can achieve a better avalanche effect than that in Fourier domain, which means DRPE in the Fresnel domain is much safer, to some extent. Consequently, a method based on DRPE in the Fresnel domain would be a good choice. In this paper we present an image-authentication method which uses only partial phase information from a double-random-phase-encrypted image in the Fresnel domain. In this method, only part of the phase information of an image encrypted with DRPE in the Fresnel domain needs to be kept, while other information like amplitude values can be eliminated. Then, with the correct phase keys (we do not consider wavelength and distance as keys here) and a nonlinear correlation algorithm, the encrypted image can be authenticated. Experimental results demonstrate that the encrypted images can be successfully authenticated with this partial phase plus nonlinear correlation technique.

  • Encrypted images obtained through double random phase-encoding (DRPE) occupy considerable storage space. We propose efficient compression schemes to reduce the size of the encrypted data. In the proposed schemes, two state-of-art compression methods of JPEG and JP2K are applied to the quantized encrypted phase images obtained by combining the DRPE algorithm with the virtual photon counting imaging technique. We compute the nonlinear cross-correlation between the registered reference images and the compressed input images to verify the performance of the compression of double random phase-encoded images. We show quantitatively through experiments that considerable compression of the encrypted image data can be achieved while security and authentication factors are completely preserved.

  • Although industrial control systems (ICSs) recently keep evolving with the introduction of Industrial IoT converging information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT), it also leads to a variety of threats and vulnerabilities, which was not experienced in the past ICS with no connection to the external network. Since various control command messages are sent to field devices of the ICS for the purpose of monitoring and controlling the operational processes, it is required to guarantee the message integrity as well as control center authentication. In case of the conventional message integrity codes and signature schemes based on symmetric keys and public keys, respectively, they are not suitable considering the asymmetry between the control center and field devices. Especially, compromised node attacks can be mounted against the symmetric-key-based schemes. In this paper, we propose message authentication scheme based on double hash chains constructed from cryptographic hash function without introducing other primitives, and then propose extension scheme using Merkle tree for multiple uses of the double hash chains. It is shown that the proposed scheme is much more efficient in computational complexity than other conventional schemes.

  • In this paper, we present an optical encryption and information authentication of 3D objects considering wireless channel characteristics. Using the optical encryption such as double random phase encryption (DRPE) and 3D integral imaging, a 3D scene with encryption can be transmitted. However, the wireless channel causes the noise and fading effects of the 3D transmitted encryption data. When the 3D encrypted data is transmitted via wireless channel, the information may be lost or distorted because there are a lot of factors such as channel noise, propagation fading, and so on. Thus, using digital modulation and maximum likelihood (ML) detection, the noise and fading effects are mitigated, and the encrypted data is estimated well at the receiver. In addition, using computational volumetric reconstruction of integral imaging and advanced correlation filters, the noise effects may be remedied and 3D information may be authenticated. To prove our method, we carry out an optical experiment for sensing 3D information and simulation for optical encryption with DRPE and authentication with a nonlinear correlation filter. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report on optical encryption and information authentication of 3D objects considering the wireless channel characteristics.

  • In this paper, we propose a user friendly password input method for mobile devices which is secure against SSA. The proposed method is a numeric password input method such as a conventional PIN method. One of the buttons, numbers and colors, so as to display the two pieces of information to double. The user can select one of the colors or numbers within one button to type in the password. Because an attacker does not know whether the user has entered any color and number, the proposed technique is safe from the SSA. Also to be secure for smudge attacks and password guessing attacks through random changes in the number and color information.

  • Recently, users' interest in IoT related products is increasing as the 4th industrial revolution has become social. The types and functions of sensors used in IoT devices are becoming increasingly diverse, and mutual authentication technology of IoT devices is required. In this paper, we propose an efficient double signature authentication scheme using Pascal's triangle theory so that different types of IoT devices can operate smoothly with each other. The proposed scheme divides the authentication path between IoT devices into two (main path and auxiliary path) to guarantee authentication and integrity of the IoT device. In addition, the proposed scheme is suitable for IoT devices that require a small capacity because they generate keys so that additional encryption algorithms are unnecessary when authenticating IoT devices. As a result of the performance evaluation, the delay time of the IoT device is improved by 6.9% and the overhead is 11.1% lower than that of the existing technique. The throughput of IoT devices was improved by an average of 12.5% over the existing techniques.

  • In the fintech environment, ensuring secure financial transactions with smartphones requires authenticating the device owner. Smartphone authentication techniques encompass a variety of approaches, such as passwords, biometrics, SMS authentication, and more. Among these, password-based authentication is commonly used and highly convenient for user authentication. Although it is a simple authentication mechanism, it is susceptible to eavesdropping and keylogging attacks, alongside other threats. Security keypads have been proposed to address vulnerabilities in password input on smartphones. One such innovation is a group keypad, resistant to attacks that guess characters based on touch location. However, improvements are needed for user convenience. In this study, we aim to propose a method that enhances convenience while being resistant to eavesdropping and recording attacks on the existing group keypad. The proposed method uses new signs to allow users to verify instead of the last character confirmation easily and employs dragging-to-touch for blocking recording attacks. We suggest diverse positioning methods tailored for domestic users, improving efficiency and security in password input compared to existing methods.

  • The current security issue for the Internet is focused on the security for user data. On the other hand, the research on the security for routing protocols is not so active, considering the importance of its role for the harmonious and accurate operation of the Internet. In this paper, we investigate the security problems of the link-state routing protocol which has been employed in the Internet, and suggest a new authentication mechanism for routing messages which complements and extends the previous ones. For this purpose, a concept of dual hash chains is newly introduced, which is provably secure, and we explain how to provide both the integrity and source authentication service for routing messages based on the session hash chains.
