  • The purpose of this study was to determine the doppler fluid effects of carbonated water (CBW) in a bi-directional flow phantom model. A bi-directional flow phantom model was chosen to realize arterial and venous flow, and the structure of the inner and outer tanks allowed for fluid circulation and also made the size of the phantom small. Carbonated water (CBW), salt fluid (SAF), sugar fluid (SUF), and distilled water (DW) were used as fluids, and ultrasound scans were performed at depths of 1.5 cm and 3.0 cm from the surface of the tank, using B-mode and color Doppler effects. All fluids tested showed color Doppler effects, but CBW had the highest doppler shift and the least variation with depth. In conclusion, we determined that CBW was the most suitable fluid to be used as a doppler fluid and confirmed that the bubbles dissolved in CBW act as doppler scatterers, just like red blood cells inside human blood. Therefore, it is possible that CBW can be used as a blood-mimicking fluid in doppler ultrasound phantoms through further research, and this study will provide basic data.

  • A new and effective Doppler effects compensation scheme for orthogonal frequency division multiplex(OFDM) system based on constellation estimation is presented with analytical descriptions which quantitatively clarify the mechanism of inter-carrier interference(ICI). The proposed compensation techniques, applicable both frequency and time domain with remarkable accuracy, are crucial to the future OFDM system operating on ultra high speed mobile vehicles.

  • A ultrasonic probe is very important in medical ultrasonic image, but the frequency of probe defects are often. Therefore practical tools for probe based ultrasonic QA should be developed. Advanced research on the effects of the probe defects on the quality of ultrasonic images is required. This study has investigated the effects of the defects in the probe elements influence Doppler images in the medical ultrasonic scanners. Especially the defects in a set of adjacent elements(SAE) electrically disconnected influence Doppler images were tested. The results show Doppler brightness and velocity became rapidly reduced as the defected elements is located centrally, as the defected elements is activated. The more the defected elements increased, the more Doppler brightness and velocity increased. As a set of the element disconnected moved, it appeared Doppler velocity starting to decrease and then was followed by brightness. The strength is not consistent with the velocity in the number and location of the defected elements. The defects in the probe elements influence Doppler velocity when the defected elements got out of the elements activated at Doppler mode.

  • Vasoconstriction of intracerebral arteries is the leading cause of delayed cerebral infarction and mortality following aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage. Transcranial Doppler studies show and increase in the flow velocities of basal cerebral arteries, which usually start around day 4 following a subarachnoid hemorrhage, and peaking by days 7 to 14. Angiographic studies confirm the presence of at least some degree of MCA vasospasm when the flow velocities are higher than 100 cm/sec. Mean velocities in the 120 to 200 cm/sec range correspond to 25 to 50% luminal narrowing. MCA and ACA vsospasm is detected with around 90% specificity. Sensitivity is 80% and 50% respectively. A 200cm/sec threshold and rapid flow velocity increase exceeding 50 cm/sec on consecutive days, has been associated with subsequent infarction. Transcranial Doppler is also used to monitor the effects of endovascular treatment of vasospasm. Flow velocities decrease following successful angioplasty or papaverine infusion. Overall, transcranial Doppler studies are considered to have acceptable accuracy for the evaluation of vasospasm in aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, with limitations that have to be taken into consideration in the clinical setting.

  • Doppler spread can occur due to the relative movement of transmitter and receiver. The Doppler frequency shift varies as the relative location and the velocity of transceivers change. This Doppler spread may seriously degrade the performance of OFDM system which is considered to be very efficient for multimedia wireless communication. Therefore, applying the method of receiver diversity, we analyze the degree of BER improvement in Doppler spread environments to investigate the effectiveness of the chosen methods according to various wireless channels.

  • The popularity of OFDM systems is being increased because of high speed data transmission capability md the spectral efficiency characteristics. However, since OFDM systems are very sensitive to the Doppler spread, The interference among subcarriers and the total system noise can be increased seriously due to the degree of Doppler effects which can cause the orthogonality problems. Therefore, these Doppler effects were analyzed using the Doppler spectrum models by varying its parameters. Especially in this paper, The degree of system performance degradation was investigated for the OFDM systems applying the relatively simple transmit and receiver diversity. The degree of the system performance degradation depends on the specific diversity structures of transceiver systems. Here, the performances of OFDM systems with two antennas transceiver diversity were analyzed and compared with that of systems with only transmission diversity and without diversity as the Doppler characteristics varied.

  • The methodology to visualize the shape of blood vessel and its blood flow have been attracting as a very interesting problem to forecast and examinate a disease in thrombus precursor protein. May previous visualization researches have been appeared for designing the blood vessel and also modeling the blood flow using a doppler imaging technique which is one of nondestructive testing techniques. General visualization methods are to depict the blood flow obtained from doppler effects with fragmentary stream lines and also visualize the blood flow model using volume rendering. However, these visualizeation techniques have the disadvantage which a set of small line segments does not give the overall observation of blood flows. Therefore, we propose a visualization system which reconstruct the continuity of the blood flow obtained from doppler effects and also visualize the blood flow with the vector field of blood particles. This system will use doppler phase difference from medical equipments such as OCT with low penetration and reconstruct the blood flow by the curvature estimation from vector field of each blood particle.

  • The effects of noise and doppler for low orbit satellite range measurement using tone method are represented in this paper. Also the optimal noise bandwidth of range signal detection circuit which is used for range measurement system of KOMPSAT is proposed. Based on the effects of satellite orbit parameters via the deduction of dynamic motion characteristics of low orbit satellite and signal to noise spectral density of range measurement signal, the effects of noise and doppler for range measurement system are analyzed. The effect of satellite link noise is decreased, but the effect for doppler is increased as the PLL noise bandwidth of range signal detection circuit is increased. The validation of analyzed effect is verified via comparison of measurement results of KOMPSAT's range measurement system and simulation results in environments of low orbit satellite.
