The aim of this study to distinguish Yin-Deficiency and Blood-Deficiency in Donguibogam To Investigate the Donguibogam Hu-Ro Sector "Yin-Deficiency Medication" and other parts and associating Herb(Bencao) In Donguibogam Hu-Ro Sector "Yin-Deficiency Medication", Yin-Deficiency is divided Blood-Deficiency and Em Hu Hwa Dong. But Si Wu Tang treating Blood-Deficiency be used at Em Hu Hwa Dong and Da Bu Yin Wan treating Em Hu Hwa Dong be used at Blood-Deficiency. But in the use of each Herb(Bencao), Yin-Deficiency Medicine and Blood-Deficiency Medicine are distinguised. One can understand that Donguibogam's use of prescription might not distinguish Yin-Deficiency and Blood-Deficiency, But each Herb(Bencao) distinguish those conceptions. Because each view is both meaningful, choosing of view in accordance with the purpose of treatment is necessary for successful clinical trial.

Objectives : The aim of this study was to show the rationale of point-selection on the methods of acupuncture and moxibustion in the Shin section(in the Naegyeong chapter) of the Donguibogam. Methods : First, We summarized the cause of each disease in the Shin section(in the Naegyeong chapter) of the Donguibogam. Then, We explained the rationale of acupuncture point-selection referring to the cause of disease, physiology of the Oriental medicine, exposition of acupuncture point name, character of each acupuncture points, flow of meridian pathways and specific acupuncture points etc. Results and Conclusions : Total 44 acupuncture points were used in the Shin section(in the Naegyeong chapter) of the Donguibogam. Most of acupuncture points were specific acupuncture points. but, some rationale of acupuncture point-selection were explained by the cause of disease, physiology of the Oriental medicine, exposition of acupuncture point name, flow of meridian pathways etc.

Objectives : The characteristics of the Liver diagram in the Donguibogam were analyzed. Methods : The Liver diagram in the Donguibogam was compared with diagrams originating from the Mingtangzangfutu(明堂臟腑圖), diagram from before the Northern Song period, Liver diagrams from Daoist texts, etc., after which its characteristics were examined in relation to quoted texts within the Donguibogam. Results : The Liver diagram of the Donguibogam is very different from that of the Mingtangzangfutu(明堂臟腑圖) or Daoist texts in that the leaf veins and leafstalk have not been depicted. The diagram in the Donguibogam depicts the liver as having seven lobes and one body instead of eight lobes. The Donguibogam diagram does not originate from the Mingtangzangfutu(明堂臟腑圖) nor is it an imitation of Daoist texts. It seems to be a visual realization based on descriptions from quoted texts such as the Nanjing, Yixuerumen, and Suwen annotations by Wangbing. Conclusions : The Liver with seven lobes and one body as depicted in the Donguibogamis likely a transformed version based on textual descriptions rather than an imitation of the Mingtangzangfutu(明堂臟腑圖) of images in Daoist texts.

Objectives : In modern meditation, psychologic therapy and happy life have been in the main status. The aim of this study is to search about the value of modern meditation systematically and to summarize the contents on the meditation in "Donguibogam(東醫寶鑑)". Methods : We investigated the meditation-related materials in "Donguibogam(東醫寶鑑)", and discussed them in comparison with the other contents found in "Huangdi's Internal Classic(黃帝內經)" and some scriptures on meditation and self-discipline. Results : The mind-body concept in Korean Medicine takes meditation and self-discipline into main consideration. Meditation and self-discipline mean the endless pursuing the nature of mind and body, thus leading to self-practice about the true meaning of life. "Donguibogam(東醫寶鑑)" includes the views on the meditation and self-discipline from the various angles based on Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism. Conclusions : Meditation and self-discipline rooted in East Asian tradition are good ways to reach the true nature of mind-body system of universe and to help people seek happiness in their lives.

Objective : In Donguibogam(東醫寶鑑), like a slow pulse with irregular intervals(結脈), an abrupt pulse(促脈) and a slow and weak pulse with regular intervals(代脈), an uneven pulse is written as a kind of arrhythmia. Such a recognition differs from the present one. In this study, I try to seize the meaning and deliberate whether those expressions are appropriate. Method : 1. Collect and compare the materials of the above four pulses among documentary records of feeling the pulse for diagnosis. 2. Grasp the aspect and trend of changes. 3. Reason whether records in Donguibogam(東醫寶鑑) are proper or not. Result & Conclusions : Donguibogam(東醫寶鑑) written "like a slow pulse with irregular intervals(結脈), an abrupt pulse(促脈) and a slow and weak pulse with regular intervals(代脈), an uneven pulse is written as a kind of arrhythmia". It is not 'an uneven pulse' is written about irregularity of pulse, but 'an uneven pulse' is written about irregularity of the sense able to be felt on the fingertip.

동의보감의 소갈 처방에서 사용하고 있는 한약재 중에서 인슐린성 물질을 탐색하기 위해 3T3-L1 지방세포 모델을 이용하여 3T3-L1 섬유아세포의 증식 및 3T3-L1 지방세포의 분화에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 3T3-L1 섬유아세포의 증식율은 반하, 후박, 대황, 오가피, 창출과 보두의 열수추출물을 첨가하였을 때 세포의 분화작용에는 영향을 미치지 않았다. 마황, 과루인, 현삼과 고삼의 추출물은 3T3-L1 섬유아세포의 분화를 촉진시켰으며, 이는 인슐린성 물질이 함유되어 있을 가능성이 높음을 시사하고 있다.

Objectives : The purpose of this literature review was to clarify the procedure of historical changes centered on medications of 10 kinds of headache in "Donguibogam"(東醫寶鑑). Methods : We searched the database-China Academic Journals(CAJ). For papers published since 2007-2011, which are classified in categories. Results : 1. By searching medications of 10 kinds of headache in "Donguibogam"(東醫寶鑑), 32 prescriptions were selected. 2. We reviewed the books, which is clarified as the reference of the aforementioned 32 prescriptions in "Donguibogam"(東醫寶鑑). 3. 31 books mentioned in head part of "Uibujeonrok"(醫部全錄) were also selected as the reference, and we searched the aforementioned 32 prescriptions in the former 31 books. Conclusions : 1. The herb medications of 10 kinds of headache in "Donguibogam"(東醫寶鑑) were mostly affected by "Seuideukhyobang"(世醫得效方). 2. 21 prescriptions among 32 prescriptions in "Donguibogam" were directly quoted from the books that the prescriptions were firstly appeared and 11 prescriptions among the 32 prescriptions were re-quoted from other books that succeeded the source books. 3. We suspect that the components, dosages of the herb medications of headache in chapter Du(頭) of "Donguibogam" were revised, according to the author's clinical experience and circumstances. 4. Cheon-gungdajo-san(川芎茶調散) was the most cited prescription in medical books. A total of 12 books were recorded from "Hwajegukbang(和劑局方)" to "Donguibogam(東醫寶鑑)".

There are total 33 prescriptions containing Polygala tenuifolia as a principal medicine in Donguibogam. This report describes the studies on therapeutic range, symptom, pathology and composition of 33 Polygala tenuifolia-main blended Prescriptions from Donguibogam. The percentage of Polygala tenuifolia-main blended prescriptions for the therapeutic range are as follows: psychopathy is the most frequent(54.4%) and eczema, purulent inflammation is second(21%) and feebleness is third(15%). The main pathologies of Polygala tenuifolia-main blended prescriptions are associated with heart, kidney and stomach. The main combinations of Polygala tenuifolia-main blended prescriptions in psychopathy are Jeongji-hwan and Chongmyung-tang.

This research is an analysis of medical essay article 62 by Jang Jong-jung that is quotated in "Donguibogam". The opinion through out the essay is that the way of healing on the whole is eliminating the origin of illness above all. Three methods of sweating, vomiting, and purging that Jang applied are profoundly connected to this opinion. Non-medicinal treatment of emotion disorders that is quoted in "Donguibogam" is also closely related. The consideration of Unqi(circulating qi) as the best way of searching etiological factor, pathology, and treatment, in "Donguibogam" is close to the view of medical essay by Jang Jong-jung.

Objectives: This study is aimed to recognize the therapy principles of TMJ balancing in Korean medicine. Methods: TMJ diseases in Donguibogam were discussed in the view of Korean medicine basic theory. Results: Manual therapy and fixed therapy using toolswere used for treatment in dislocating jaw by yawn or TMJ diseases in Korean medicine. Conclusions: In Donguibogam, manual therapy and fixed therapy were used for TMJ dislocating, and acupuncture therapy and herbal therapy were used in toothache by dependent on the cause and the symtoms.
