  • The concrete purpose of this study is to examine the possibility of applying S.Minuchin's structural family therapy theory to each clinical families so that it can solve efficiently the clinical problems Korean family. The test results are as follows: 1)The Results of Question I : Types of Korean family problems can be divide into six. Then the most frequent type of problem was marital problem. 2) The Results of Question II: Korean normal family showed rater difussed boundary and higher rate of wife dominant type than that of husband dominant type in aspect of boundary and power, and had low tendency toward alignment and neutral adjustment. 3)The Results of Quesion III; Amidst the clinical families, family structural traits of the families which have marital problems showed a clear boundary, the tendency toward alignment, and higher tate of husband dominant type than that of wife dominant type. And family structural traits of children problem family had the tendency of alignment and showed little wife-dominanted families in power. Finally, mother-in -law and daughter-in-law problemed family had several characters such as diffused boundary, the tendency of alignment and high adjustment. 4)The Results of Question IV : As a result of camparing problemed families with normal families in family structure, there was high adaptability of S.Minuchin's structural theory to the two family groups; the groups of marital problems and those of children problem.

  • This study examined patterns and determinants of families’supplementary educational investment on children. By supplementary educational investment, it meant the amounts of money spent on children’s education other than regular formal schooling expenses. The data used were from the 「1996 Household Expenditure Survey」conducted by the National Statistical Office. The statistical methods employed were descriptive statistics, cluster analysis and logistic multiple regression analysis. Results of cluster analysis revealed five different patterns of family supplementary education expense with relatively even proportion of families allocated to each pattern. The five education expenditure patterns were arts education dominant; other education dominant; gymnastics·clerical·computer education dominant; college entrance exam preparation dominant; and private tutoring dominant. Results of logistic regression analysis showed that the possibility of being in a pattern affected by various family socioeconomic variables. Important factors affecting there patterns were children’s schooling stage, residence, and mother’s education.

  • The occurrence of thyroid disorders is connected with iodine deficiency, defective synthesis or releasing of thyroid hormone and endemicity. Genetic factors are known as a single gene defects, interaction of multiple genes with environmental factors, as well as chromosomal aberrations. Diofnosis thyroid disorders is enforced by I-131 uptake test, thyroid scanning with I-131 or Tc-99 m and serum radioimmunoassays of T3, T4, free T4 and TSH. They were largely classified as hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, simple goiter and normal. The pedigree of 58 families was drawn by propositus, and then the correlation between thyroid disorders and TSH levels was analyzed. The results are as follows: 1) The offsprings and their mothers of 15 families were hypothyroidism, THS level was 5 folds for offsprings and 4 folds for mothers in comparison with control group. 2) 13 families were hyperthyyroidism in siblings but their mothers were normal in thyroid function, TSH level of the siblings was lower than control group. 3) Though the offsprings and their mothers of 10 families were similar to TSH level of control group, they are all simple goiter, familial thyroid disorders, in other thyroid function test. The familial thyroid disorders suggested that these transmitted from mothers to offsprings with X-linked dominant or autosomal dominant inheritance.

  • The study aims at analyzing a species composition of the fish live in bottom of the coastal waters off Geomun island, Korea. To reach the goal of the study, a species composition and it's monthly fluctuation, a monthly fluctuation of the dominant species and it's appearance type was analyzed the fishes caught by the bottom trawl. The result obtained can be summerrized as follows; Fish caught in this area composes 14 orders, 34 families, and 47 species. The largest number of fish species was Perciformes (15 families and 19 species). The most dominant species in an number of fish was jhon dory, Zeus faber which was occupied at 22.5% from the whole number, the second most dominant species was horse mackerel, Trachurus japonicus which was occupied at 21.2%. Four groups were categorized based on appearance time period.

  • Purpose: Bacterial degeneration of sweat and increased secretion of over developed apocrine sweat gland are known causes of osmidrosis. In addition, genetic inheritance must be another important cause, because there are high incidence rates of osmidrosis in familial members. But the research about genetic inheritance has been overlooked. For this reason we studied genetic inheritance in osmidrosis patients based on pedigree analysis. Methods: We have evaluated pedigree of 52 patients who have diagnosed and treated in our hospital from January 2003 to August 2007. For making pedigrees, we have evaluated 3 generations of affected lineage from osmidrosis patients. Family members having uncertain information or those who are before puberty are excluded. In pedigree analysis, inheritance rate and inheritance pattern from parents, prevalence rate in generations and sexual prevalence are evaluated. Results: In this study, we divided pedigrees into 3 different groups according to inheritance pattern. Group A is genetically unrelated pattern with no prevalence between familial members in 7 families. Group B is weakly expressed pattern with 17 families there are genetically related but no genetic patterns are founded. In group B inheritance rate is 34% and incidence rate is 21% in 2nd generation and 22% in 3rd generation. Group C is autosomal dominant pattern with 31 families. In group C, there are no differences in sexual prevalence. Incidence rate is 43% in 2nd generation and 49% in 3rd generation. Conclusion: In this study, we have studied pedigrees of 52 families of osmidrosis patients. 60% of the pedigrees shows autosomal dominant pattern, 33% shows genetically related but no definite autosomal dominant pattern and 7% shows genetically unrelated pattern. In Conclusion, This study can be basic data for future gene analysis study of osmidrosis.

  • Two distinct spider communities were studied in the crowns and ground surfaces of pine plantations at Mt. Ungilsan, Kyonggi-do using pitfall traps and knock-down by spraying of an insecticide (D.D.V.P.) to sample spiders. There were 34 species of 11 families in the ground community and 41 species of 15 families in the crown community, with only 9 species being collected in both. Wandering spiders comprised 78.5% of the crown community and 90.8% of the ground community. Guild abundance and the most abundant families were distinctly different in the two habitats: agile hunters (Salticidae:32.4%) and nocturnal hunters (Clubionidae:19%) in the crown, runners (Lycocidae:32.8%) and nocturnal hunters (Gnaphosidae:31.2%) in the ground. Dominant species were Clubiona jucunda (Karsch) and Mymarachne japonica (Karsch) in the crown, while in the ground they were Pardosa laura Karsch and Gnaphosa silvicola. Species diversity(H ) had peaks in May, July and November in the ground community, while in the crown community peaks were in June and September. The seasonal trends of species diversity (H ) were due mainly to differences in the number of species and the numbers of individuals collected at each sample date rather than to differences in equitability among species. Spier guilds and dominant species have different seasonal patterns based on the temporal differences in prey availability in the two communities and the reduction of temporal overlap.
