Regional evaluations of slope stability by the failure criterion and by environmental geological factors were conducted. The failure criterion is the general conditions for plane failure which consider the geometrical conditions between geological discontinuities and topographical slope planes. The factor focused in this condiction is dip and dip direction. Geostatics, named semivariogram was used for establishing structural domains in slope stability evaluation by the failure criterion. The influential range was calculated to 6 km in the case of dip direction of dominant joint set and 7 km in the case of dip of the same dominant joint set. Then applying this failure criterion to the study area produced a slope stability map using the established domains and slopes generated by TIN module of ARC/INFO GIS. This study considered another regional slope stability analysis. 5 failure-driven factors 9the unstable slope map, geology, engineering soil, groundwater, and lineament density) were selected and used as data coverages for regional slope stability evaluation by geoenvironmental factors. These factors were weighted and overlayed in GIS. From the graph of cumulatave area (%) and instability index, finding critical points classified the instability indices. The most unstable slopes are located in the southern area of Mt. Eorae, Dabul-ri, and the eastern area of Junkok-ri in the first area is plane failure. Also, the expected orientations of failure are 59/338 and 86/090 (dip/dip direction).
This study aimed to design the accelerated life testing (ALT) of concrete, which stimulating the special natural environment maximumly. Its evaluation indexes, such as dynamic elastic modulus, mass and ultrasonic velocity were measured, and the variation of relative mass and relative dynamic elastic modulus of concrete were studied. Meanwhile, the microanalysis method was used. Moreover, an exploratory application of the stochastic approach, the Weibull distribution and the lognormal distribution, were made to assess the durability of concrete structures. The results show that the ALT for simulating natural environment is more close to the service process of concrete structure under actual conditions; The relative dynamic elastic modulus can be used as the dominant durability evaluation parameters, because it is more sensitive to the environmental factors compared with the relative quality evaluation parameters; In the course of the concrete deterioration, the destruction of the salt freezing cycle is the dominant factor, supplemented by other factors; Both of those two stochastic approaches can be used to evaluate the reliability of concrete specimens under the condition of ALT; By comparison, The lognormal distribution method is better to describe the reliability process.
In this paper, we model the downward collision of a falling object to the base. We aim to provide maximum diversity of response to physical. collision. To this end, the primary design concern of the model is to unfold the collision phenomenon in a logical and natural manner, detailed enough to construct an immersive virtual environment. To achieve these requirements, first we determine domains for the characteristic of the material of the falling objects, and select the dominant force of the collision. We formulate the collision phenomena with combination of primitive attributes and their relationships. The formulated function evaluates the results of the collision in qualitative aspects as well as in quantitative aspects. Between the collision issues, 'Collision Detection' and 'Collision Response', this paper focuses on Collision Response issue.
Many studies have suggested the positive effects of grazing by large herbivorous mammals on seed dispersal, but little is known about how herbivores could affect the fate of ingested seeds. This study examined the effects of seed ingestion by sika deer (Cervus nippon) on seed fate in a temperate grassland established in an urban park long resided by high densities of sika deer. I compared species composition and seasonal traits of seed abundance and maturity in the grassland community with those in deer fecal pellets. In total, 27 herbaceous species were observed, including the predominant Zoysia japonica. Seed phenology and production differed among the three dominant species (Z. japonica, Digitaria violascens, and Hydrocotyle maritima). Pellets contained at least 26 species of herbaceous seeds, and their abundance differed among species. Of the 26 species, 15 were observed in the vegetation at the study site. The peak of seed abundance in pellets for the dominant species appeared 1 month after the peak of inflorescence production (but most of the inflorescences were immature and susceptible to digestion) and consequently corresponded to the peak of mature inflorescence. Because sika deer are likely to ingest seeds at any maturity stage in the grassland and immature seeds are less hardened, ingested immature seeds can suffer great losses. The results suggested that the survival of germable seeds with great losses of immature seeds may be a factor determining which plant species can be successfully dispersed by herbivores.

Nowadays, high speed train has settled down as a fast and convenient environment-friendly transportation and it's need is gradually increasing. However increased train speed leads to increased aerodynamic noise, which causes critically affects comfortability of passengers. Especially, the pantograph of high speed train is protruded out of train body, which is the main factor for increased aerodynamic noise. Since aerodynamic noise caused pantograph should be measured in high speed, it is difficult to measure it and to analysis aerodynamic noise characteristics due to the various types of pantograph. In this research, aerodynamic noise of pantograph is predicted by CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamic) and FW-H (Ffowcs Williams-Hawkings) equation. Also, Wind tunnel test results and numerical simulation results were compared. As a result, Simulation results predicting sound pressure level is very similar with wind tunnel test result. To analyze contribution of the pantograph to the noise of high-speed train, simulation results compared with measurement results of exterior noise. The simulation reuslts found that pantograph is a dominant noise source of high-speed trains's exterior noise in low frequency section. This dominant noise was come out from vortex shedding of the panhead in the pantograph. This research will be utilized for reduce sound pressure level of pantograph.

PURPOSE: This study was aimed to investigate the effects of pelvic movements-based training on trunk stability and balance during sitting in children with spastic cerebral palsy. METHODS: Ten children with spastic cerebral palsy were matched to an intervention (n=5) or control group (n=5). The intervention consisted of two weeks of pelvic movements-based training, five times a week. All participants were evaluated before, during, and after pelvic movements-based training using a trunk impairment scale (TIS) for trunk stability and a modified functional reaching test for balance during sitting. The collected data were analyzed using Repeated Measures ANOVA and the Mann-Whitney U test. RESULTS: The results of this study were as follows: 1) Significant increases in the TIS score (only dynamic balance) and forward reaching were observed in the experimental group, compared with the control group, after training (P<.05). 2) There were statistically significant time-factor increases within and between the subject' effects, in the TIS score (dynamic balance and total), dominant side, non-dominant side, and forward reaching (P<.05). CONCLUSION: In conclusion, this study showed that for children with spastic cerebral palsy, pelvic movements-based training improves trunk stability and balance during sitting. Further studies will be required to determine the long-term effects of pelvic movements-based training.
Turnip crinkle vims (TCV) inoculation onto resistant Arabidopsis ecotype Dijon(Di-17) leads to a hypersensitive response (HR) on the inoculated leaves. A dominant gene, HRT, which confers an HR to TCV, has been cloned from Di-17 plants by map-based cloning. HRT is a LZ-NBS-LRR class resistance gene and it belongs to a small gene family that includes RPP8, which confers resistance to Peronospora parasitica Emco5. Outside of the LRR region, HRT and RPP8 proteins share 98% amino acid identity while their LRR regions are less conserved (87% identity). HRT-transformed Arabidopsis plants developed an HR but generally remained susceptible to TCV due to a dominant RRT allele, which is not compatible with resistance. However, several transgenic plants that over-expressed HRT much higher than Di-l7 showed micro-HR or no HR when inoculated with TCV and were resistant to infection. Both the HR and resistance are dependent on salicylic acid but independent of NPRI, ethylene, or jasmonic acid. Arabidopsis plants containing both TCV coat protein gene and HRT developed massive necrosis and death in seedlings, indicating that the TCV coat protein is an avirulence factor detected by the HRT.

This study examines how the health of the banks in ASEAN-3 countries namely Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand respond to the change in exchange rates and foreign interest rates in four large economies. The transmissions of the two external factors through domestic factors in each ASEAN-3 countries eventually affects Non-Performing Loan (NPL) of commercial banks. This study uses the monthly time series data and the renowned Structural Vector Autoregressive (VAR) model comprising five variables, namely exchange rate, foreign interest rate, domestic interest rate, money supply, and non-performing loan (NPL). The results indicate that there are different effects between ASEAN-3 countries, which can be classified as short-run effect and long-run effect. In the long run effect, external factors have a dominant role in determining NPL in ASEAN-3 countries. Yuan has the biggest effect on Malaysia's NPL, while Indonesia is more affected by European interest rates rather than the fluctuation of the US currency and China's interest rates. Among ASEAN-3 countries, Malaysia is the one that is the most vulnerable to external factors. While Thailand's NPL is affected dominantly by domestic factors. This study shows that the Fed Funds Rate (US official interest rate) is not always the dominant factor affecting the health of domestic banks in ASEAN-3.

In the present study, dominant factors for temperature increase and effects of mass entering the resonance tube of the gas-dynamic igniter are investigated. Using RhoCentralFoam solver in OpenFOAM program, numerical simulation is performed for three different cases. In the results, the heating of the working fluid is found to be a result from aero-thermodynamic phenomena. Appropriate mass entering to the resonance tube is found to be an important dominant factor as well.
