Various diagnostic techniques have been proposed according to the development of the engineering. and the machine elements. Specially. since the bearing is an essential component in rotating Machine. Many researchers have been done an earler detection and a exact diagnosis of defects on bearing. In this study, the technique which differ from past diagnosises techniques in frequency domain such as Spectral analysis is proposed. Parametric ARMA model was utilized to define the system using tire series directly. Based on the resulted ARMA parameters, more precies and faster diagnosis system through Neural network was presented.
It is important to estimate exactly wave forces acting on various types of offshore structures under the severe environmental conditions in the ocean site. This paper presents an easy experimental method which deals with transient waves. The proposed scheme made it possible to generate breaking waves at any position in the wave tank by changing the maximum slope of the component waves. The theoretical and experimental methods were investigated by generating concentrated waves which acted on a single and multiple cylinders. The waves forces increased rapidly when the models encountered breaking waves. The theoretical results underestimates the forces due to breaking waves. Therefore, the effects due to breaking waves should be considered carefully in the design process of a structure under the influence of breaking waves.
Periostin, a component of extracellular matrix (ECM) protein, is produced and secreted by the fibroblasts that are involved in chronic allergic inflammation diseases and various types of human cancers. Periostin protein is composed of multiple domains including four FAS1 domains which play important roles in cell adhesion and tumor metastasis by interacting with integrins. In spite of their important biological role, the structural information of periosin FAS1 domains was not revealed yet. Recently we systemically prepared various constructs of the FAS1 domains and tried to express them in E. coli. Of them, only single FAS1-II and -IV domains were highly soluble. Circular dichroism (CD) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) studies revealed that the FAS1-IV domain might be suitable for three-dimensional structure determination using NMR spectroscopy.
We have investigated the mixing behavior of a tubular heat exchanger reactor using CFD and compared its mixing performance with different type of reactors such as jet mixer and continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR). The mixedness in each reactor was quantified introducing a statistical average value, the coefficient of variation (CoV), which is a normalized standard deviation of concentration of a component over the whole fluid domain. Through the analysis of the flow pattern and turbulent energy distribution, we suggested a simple but effective way to improve the mixing performance of the tubular heat-exchanger reactor, which include the addition of the internals and/or the increase of the recycle flow rate. It was found that the CoV value of the tubular reactor could be nearly equivalent to that of CSTR by applying those two alternatives suggested here.

Pogo is the instability resulting from the interaction between rocket structure and propulsion system of liquid propellant rocket. The coupling of structure and propulsion system can lead to severe problem in rocket. For the analysis of pogo, a time-invariant linearized mathematical model is developed for a selected flight time. Propulsion system is modeled using element representations for each components. The constitutive equation of propulsion system is a homogeneous second-order equation form in the Laplace domain. Rocket structure is modeled using FEM. From the results of modal analysis of structure, the behavior of structure can be represented. System equations for coupling structure and propulsion system are composed of all propulsion system equations and vehicle motion equations reacting on the vehicle by each component of propulsion system. The stability is obtained by the eigen solution of system matrix. The optimization of the design variables such as size, place of accumulator for suppressing pogo instability is carried out. This article of study can be used to determine the degree of stability, and guide the design of pogo suppression system.
This study presents a comprehensive investigation of the aerostatic and buffeting response characteristics of a suspension bridge catwalk. The three-dimensional aerostatic response analysis was carried out taking into account the geometric nonlinearity and nonlinear dependence of wind loads on the angle of attack. The buffeting response analysis was performed in the time domain. The aerostatic and buffeting responses of the catwalk show strong coupling of vertical and lateral vibrations. The lateral displacement is the main component of the wind-induced static and buffeting response of the catwalk.

This paper introduces a variable step-size adaptive algorithm for blind source separation. From the frequency characteristics of mixed input signals, we need to adjust the convergence speed regularly in each frequency bin. This algorithm varies a step-size according to the magnitude of input at each frequency bin. This guarantee of the regular convergence in each frequency bin would become more efficient in separation performances than conventional fixed step-size FDICA. Computer simulation results show the improvement of about 5 dB in signal to interference ratio (SIR) and the better separation quality.
The analysis of heart sounds is a noninvasive diagnostic method useful to diagnose heart valve function. In this paper we compared the ability of spectral analysis method for prosthetic heart valve sounds. Phonocardiograms of prosthetic heart valve were analyzed in order to derive frequency domain feature suitable for the classification of the valve state. The FFT-based methods did not provide sufficient frequency resolution to completely characterize the spectrum of prosthetic heart valve sounds. A high resolution parametric methods were shown to give superior frequency resolution. In parametric methods, all methods provide a 1st & 2nd & 3rd frequency component. But Shank method provided a most dominant frequency peak.

This paper presents the automatically extracting method of data item from name-cards using knowledge-base. In our approach, we utilize a structural information and a relational information between data items and elements with knowledge in the name-cards. To describe a hierarchical knowledge, we uses a flame structure and we propose an algorithim of domain classification to extract item and group candidate domains from the name-cards. From the experimental results, we obtain the extraction rate, 95%, for 100 samples.

The classical Fourier analysis, which is the typical frequency domain approach, is used to detect periodic trends that are of the sinusoidal shape in time series data. In this article, using a sequence of periodic step functions, describes an adaptive Fourier series where the patterns may take general periodic shapes that include sinusoidal as a special case. The results, which extend both Fourier analysis and Walsh-Fourier analysis, are applies to investigate the shape of the periodic component. Through the real data, compare the goodness-of-fit of the model using two methods, the adaptive Fourier method which is proposed method in this paper and classical Fourier method.
