  • The purpose of this paper is to review the domestic research on mathematical modeling by using three dimensional mathematical modeling map composed of perspective axis, domain axis, level axis, and to give direction to mathematical modeling research. The findings of this study show that the domestic research on mathematical modeling focuses on application perspective, notions and classroom domain and secondary level, and that we need various studies with concept formation perspective, system domain, tertiary level, and teacher(education) level on the future work about mathematical modeling.

  • The ABS method which is modeling the shape-design helps designers concentrate upon the design intuitively, using the modeling method based on the geometrical characteristics, the property information (a point. a curve. slopes. etc.). For the multi-sided patches, the ABS Modeling attempts the modeling with the uniform domain like a right triangle and a regular square. The mentioned method can reduce the speed of modeling but it can cause the difference from a designer's intention in the process of interpolation between the attributes for object modeling. Therefore, in this paper. we propose ABS modeling based on the Chordlength domain method to minimize such differences. The Chordlength, one of the methods generating irregular domain. is the technique transforming the domain in accordance with the length and form of attributes which a shape consists of. The Chordlength domain method is performed using MEL.

  • In many literatures of model management, various schemes for representing model base schema have proposed. Ultimately, the goal is to arrive at a set of mutually supportive and synergistic methodologies and tools for the modeling problem domain and model base design. This paper focus on how best to structure and represent conceptual model of problem domain and schema of model base. Semantic concepts and modeling constructs are valuable conceptual tools for understanding the structural relationships and constraints involved in an model management environment. To this end, we reviewed the model management literature, and analyzed the constructs of modeling tools of data model management graph-based approach. Although they have good tools but most of them are not enough for the representation of structural relationships and constraints. So we wanted more powerful tools which can represent diverse constructs in a decision support modeling and model base schema design. For the design of a model base, we developed object modeling framework which uses Object Modeling Techniques (OMT). In Object Modeling Framework, model base schema are classified into conceptual schema, logical schema, and physical schema. The conceptual schema represents the user's view of problem domain, and the logical schema represents a model formatted by a particular modeling language. The schema design, this paper proposes an extension of Object Model to overcome some of the limitations exhibited by the OMT. The proposed tool, Extended Object Model(EOM) have diverse constructs for the representation of decision support problem domain and conceptual model base schema.

  • This paper describes IDMS, a graph-based modeling system that supports problem structuring. We employs influence diagram as a problem representation tool, that is, a modeling tool. In particular, IDMS is designed as domain-independent shell. Therefore, a modeler can change the contents of the knowledge base to suit his/her own interested domain. Since the knowledge base of IDMS contains both modeling knowledge and domain knowledge, IDMS provides not only the syntactic support for modeling tool, but also the semantic support for problem domain. To apply the method in the real world context, we tested IDMS on the process selection problem in business reengineering, which is typical semi-structured problem.

  • 3-D data modeling of a volumetric scattered data is highly demanded for geological structure inspection, environment visualization and supersonic testing. The data used in these area are generally irregularly scattered in a volume data space, which are much different from the structured points data (cuberille data) used in Marching cube algorithm. In this paper, first we explore a volume modeling method for the scattered data based on tetrahedral domain. Next we propose a method for solving the ambiguity of tetrahedral domain decision using asymptotic decider criterion. Last we implement a simple visualization system based on the proposed asymptotic decider criterion and compare it with a system based on sphere criterion. In deciding tetrahedral domain, sphere criterion considers only positional values but asymptotic decider criterion considers not only positional values but also functional values, so asymptotic decider criterion is more accurate on deciding tetrahedral domain than sphere criterion.

  • Recent interests in intelligent LP modeling aim to support MS/OR-naive users to be able to apply LP models to practical problems without the expert knowledges required. For more generalized LP modeling, a GPS(General Problem Solver)-based approach is suggested in this paper. It identifies modeling process as a means-ends analysis process. In view of this approach, a) we first divide the knowledges into domain specific assertive knowledges(state) and procedural knowledges about LP modeling(operator and macro) for model-domain independence, b) and then generate LP model according to the difference resolution techniques.

  • 3D seismic data processing methods such as full waveform inversion or reverse-time migration require 3D wave propagation modeling and heavy calculations. We compared efficiency and accuracy of a Xeon Phi coprocessor to those of a high-end server CPU using 3D frequency-domain wave propagation modeling. We adopted the OpenMP parallel programming to the time-domain finite difference algorithm by considering the characteristics of the Xeon Phi coprocessors. We applied the Fourier transform using a running-integration to obtain the frequency-domain wavefield. A numerical test on frequency-domain wavefield modeling was performed using the 3D SEG/EAGE salt velocity model. Consequently, we could obtain an accurate frequency-domain wavefield and attain a 1.44x speedup using the Xeon Phi coprocessor compared to the CPU.

  • The power line channel has time-variant characteristics caused by various kind of electrical devices. This characteristics are synchronized with the main voltage by their own characteristics. The main factors of disturbance are the variation of the channel impedance and noises. In other papers, the synchronous noise modeling has been achieved. But the modeling is not satisfied simultaneously with the time domain and the frequency domain and there are not any discussion about short-term variations of the channel impedance which cause to the signal fading. Therefore, this paper researched to solve problems about the signal fading by analyzing the short-term variation of the channel impedance, and proposed the synchronous noise modeling which is satisfied simultaneously in the time domain and the frequency domain.

  • This paper deals with the PSS modeling of Ulchin N/P #1 as well as the generator and excitation system modeling by utilizing the recorded data from AVR step test, which has been performed by entering small voltage signal into the AVR summing point. In addition to it. two recorded results obtained from the AVR step test with PSS sunning and without PSS running have not only been compared each other on the time domain, but also they heve been analyzed with FFT analysis on the frequency domain; thus, the desirable effects of running PSS in Ulchin N/P #1 on power system have been explicitly confirmed. Finally, the derived PSS model parameters lead to good matches between simulation results and recorded data.
