정신질환에서 뇌자극술의 적용 (The Application of Brain Stimulation in Psychiatric Disorders : An Overview)

  • Based on advances in biotechnology and neuroscience, neuromodulation is poised to gain clinical importance as a treatment modality for psychiatric disorders. In addition to old-established electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), clinicians are expected to understand newer forms of neurostimulation, such as deep brain stimulation (DBS), vagus nerve stimulation (VNS), repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS). Given the growing interest in non-invasive neuromodulation technologies, clinicians may seek sufficient information about neuromodulation to inform their clinical practice. A growing literature suggests that applications of non-invasive neuromodulation have evidence particularly for indications where treatments are currently insufficient, such as drug-resistant depression. However, positive neuromodulation studies require replication, and the precise interactions among stimulation, antidepressant medication, and psychotherapy are unknown. Further studies of long-term safety and the impact on the developing brain are needed. Non-invasive neuromodulatory devices could enable more individualized treatment. However, do-it-yourself (DIY) stimulation kits require a better understanding of the effects of more frequent patterns of stimulation and raise concerns about clinical supervision, regulation, and reimbursement. Wide spread enthusiasm for therapeutic potential of neuromodulation in clinical practice settings should be mitigated by the fact that there are still research gaps and challenges associated with non-invasive neuromodulatory devices.

Design of a Smart Safety Vest Incorporated With Metal Detector Kits for Enhanced Personal Protection

  • Background: Personal protective equipment (PPE) has been designed in such a way to reduce accident rates. Unfortunately, existing PPE is rather ineffective as it is not able to provide warning signals when hazard is around. The integration of intelligent systems is envisaged to increase the efficiency of existing PPE. Methods: This project designed a safety vest incorporated with metal detectors which can provide immediate warning to the field workers when there is metal hazard around. This product has greater freedom of design via smart manufacturing as it involves the assembly of few commercially available parts into a single entity. Briefly, the metal detector is a do it yourself (DIY) kit, and the safety vest is purchasable from any local market. The DIY kit was connected to a copper coil and being sewed into the safety vest. Results: The metal detector induces beeping sound when there is metal hazard around. A total of 121 engineering students were introduced to the prototype before being requested to answer a survey associated with the design. Respondents have rated >3.00/5.00 for the design simplicity, ease of usage, and light weight. Meanwhile, respondents suggested that the design should be further improved by increasing the metal detection range. Conclusion: It is envisaged that the introduction of this smart safety vest will allow the workers to carry out their duties securely by reducing the accident rates. Particularly, such design is expected to reduce workplace accident especially during night time at construction sites where the visibility is low.

텍스트마이닝을 활용한 패브릭 관련 DIY 의류 상품 현황 연구 (A study on the current status of DIY clothing products related to fabric using text mining)

  • This study aims to collect Big Data related to DIY clothing, analyze the results on a year-by-year basis, understand consumers' perceptions, the status, and reality of DIY clothing. The reference period for the evaluation of DIY clothing trends was set from 2012 to 2022. The data in this study was collected and analyzed using Textom, a Big Data solution program certified as a Good Software by the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA). For the analysis of fabric-related DIY products, the keyword was set to "DIY clothing", and for data cleansing following collection, the "Espresso K" module was employed. Also, via data collection on a year-by-year basis, a total of 11 lists were generated and the collected data was analyzed by period. The following are the findings of this study's data collection on DIY clothing. The total number of keywords collected over a period of ten years on search engines "Naver" and "Google" between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2022 was 16,315, and data trends by period indicate a continuous upward trend. In addition, a keyword analysis was conducted to analyze TF-IDF (Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency), a statistical measure that reflects the importance of a word within data, and the relationship with N-gram, an analysis of the correlation concerning the relationship between words. Using these results, it was possible to evaluate the popularity and growing tendency of DIY clothing products in conjunction with the evolving social environment, as well as the desire to explore DIY trends among consumers. Therefore, this study is valuable in that it provides preliminary data for DIY clothing research by analyzing the status and reality of DIY products, and furthermore, contributes to the development and production of DIY clothing.

다채널 저가 GNSS 측위 모듈기반 RTK 측량의 효용성 평가 (Evaluating of the Effectiveness of RTK Surveying Performance Based on Low-cost Multi-Channel GNSS Positioning Modules)

  • GNSS 위성측위시스템의 고도화에 따라 다채널 GNSS 수신기, 다 주파 외장안테나 및 모바일 앱(App)기반 공개형 측위해석 소프트웨어 등 사용자 부문에서도 정확성과 경제성을 반영한 하드웨어 및 운용 소프웨어의 모듈(Module)화가 구현되어 사용자의 목적에 따라 능동적 구성방식(DIY, Do it yourself)의 다채널 GNSS RTK 측위가 가능하다. 특히, Multi-GNSS 위성의 활용 인프라가 확대되고 다양한 모듈의 조합에 따른 활용·확대의 잠재성이 부각되면서 다채널 저가 GNSS 수신기 모듈의 활용에 대한 관심이 점차 높아지고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 다양한 형태로 대중시장에 등장하고 있는 다채널 저가 GNSS 수신기를 검토하고 다채널 저가 GNSS 측위 모듈 기반 RTK 측량 시스템(이하, "다채널 GNSS RTK 모듈 측위 시스템")을 구성하여 행정안전부의 "주소정보시설 조사사업"의 활용 방안을 분석하고 활용 가능성을 평가하였다. 이를 위해 U-blox사의 F9P 칩셋, 안테나, GNSS 관측자료의 Ntrip 전송 및 RTK 측위용 해석 앱(App) 등 관련 모듈을 스마트폰을 매개로 조합, 저가형 "다채널 GNSS RTK 모듈 측위 시스템"을 구성하고 원형 궤적에 대한 동적측위 실시 및 주소정보시설을 대상으로 정적측위를 수행하였다. 실험대상지 내 고정점 5점을 대상으로 측지용 수신기 정적측량성과와 비교분석한 결과 평균 ± 1.2cm의 표준편차로 양호한 정적측량성과를 획득할 수 있었다. 또한, 드론영상 해석으로 구성한 정사영상 내 원형구조물의 외곽선에 대한 검사점과 저비용 RTK GNSS 수신기의 동적측량 궤적과 비교한 결과, 평균 ± 2.5cm의 표준편차로 매우 근접한 궤적 성과를 확인할 수 있었다. 특히, 주소정보시설에 적용한 결과, 고가의 상업용 측지형 수신기 대비 저렴한 비용으로 공간정보구축의 효용성을 검증할 수 있었으므로 지적분야에서 본 연구에서 구성한 "다채널 GNSS RTK 모듈 측위 시스템"의 다양한 활용성이 기대된다.

인형의상의 문화적 고찰과 디자인 개발 연구 (A Study on the Contemplation and Design Development of Doll's Costume)

  • Dolls which were recognized as children's toys are recently also recognized as one of the cultural products of adult's hobby. Thus this research is about dolls' fashion and the possibility of their industrial expansion. Moreover, the object of the research is to develop and manufacture high quality fashion doll products in Korea which are mostly imported from foreign countries. The research studied the origin and the path of the development of fashion dolls with the history of clothing and special books for dolls. By organizing the character and the fashion of dolls' costumes, the research has a meaning for not only to make an academic approach of dolls' costumes which was insufficient in Korea but also to provide useful information to toy enterprises. The conclusion of this research is as followed. First, dolls have a lot of possibilities to be developed as a high value added cultural product industry by emerging from their children's toy image. Second, since costumes of dolls also have a trend, it is necessary to develop products with the trend to satisfy customer's willing. Third, organization of both the books about the dolls' costumes and the information for their DIY is urgently needed for the domestic fashion doll manias. Forth, the necessity to scheme the expansion of fancy industry has been raise by using dolls' characterization and fashion. Fifth, the researcher who has researched the above necessities has manufactured 8 pieces of dolls' costumes and provided the actual solutions to the each point of the discussions. In sum, I suggest expanding the scope of both research subject and product manufacturing of the research results and also recommend for further researches to develop the products which consumers want.

oneM2M 표준 프로토콜 기반의 개방형 IoT 플랫폼 설계 (The design of Open IoT Platform based on oneM2M Standard Protocol)

  • 최근 메이커 문화는 스스로 '만들다'라는 개념을 하이테크놀로지 최신 기술을 통해 실현시키고 있다. 개인의 제작 방법 및 정보를 인터넷을 통해 서로 공유함으로서 메이커 운동으로 빠르게 확산되고 있다. 메이커 운동을 선도하는 국가들은 메이커 운동을 사물인터넷 관점에서 새로운 가치 창조 및 경제 성장의 동력이 될 것이라고 전망하고 있다. DIY (Do It Yourself)를 통해 제작하고 개발된 다양한 사물인터넷 디바이스와 서비스를 등록하고, 상호 연동하여 서비스를 실현할 수 있는 다양한 형태의 개방형 IoT (Internet of Things) 플랫폼을 개발하고 있다. 일반적인 개방형 IoT 플랫폼들은 전문적인 API (Application Programming Interface) 분석 능력이 필요하며, 까다로운 플랫폼 등록조건과 절차로 인해 일반 사용자들의 접근이 어려운 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 일반 메이커 사용자의 관점에서 보다 간편한 구조의 사물인터넷 디바이스와 서비스 애플리케이션을 제작하고, 실제 서비스로 구동 할 수 있는 개방형 IoT 플랫폼을 구성하고자 한다.

Design, Development and Testing of the Modular Unmanned Surface Vehicle Platform for Marine Waste Detection

  • Mobile robots are used for years as a valuable research and educational tool in form of available open-platform designs and Do-It-Yourself kits. Rapid development and costs reduction of Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAV) and ground based mobile robots in recent years allowed researchers to utilize them as an affordable research platform. Despite of recent developments in the area of ground and airborne robotics, only few examples of Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) platforms targeted for research purposes can be found. Aim of this paper is to present the development of open-design USV drone with integrated multi-level control hardware architecture. Proposed catamaran - type water surface drone enables direct control over wireless radio link, separate development of algorithms for optimal propulsion control, navigation and communication with the ground-based control station. Whole design is highly modular, where each component can be replaced or modified according to desired task, payload or environmental conditions. Developed USV is planned to be utilized as a part of the system for detection and identification of marine and lake waste. Cameras mounted to the USV would record sea or lake surfaces, and recorded video sequences and images would be processed by state-of-the-art computer vision and machine learning algorithms in order to identify and classify marine and lake waste.

Accuracy of Self-Checked Fecal Occult Blood Testing for Colorectal Cancer in Thai Patients

  • Purpose: Colorectal cancer (CRC) screening with fecal occult blood testing (FOBT) has been associated with a reduction in CRC incidence and CRC-related mortality. However, a conventional FOBT requires stool collection and handling, which may be inconvenient for participants. The EZ-Detect$^{TM}$ (Siam Pharmaceutical Thailand) is a FDA-approved chromogen-substrate based FOBT which is basically a self-checked FOBT (no stool handling required). This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy of EZ-Detect for CRC detection. Methods: This prospective study was conducted in the Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital, Bangkok, Thailand between November 2013 and May 2014. Some 96 patients with histologically-proven CRC and 101 patients with normal colonoscopic findings were invited to perform self-checked FOBT according to the manufacturer's instructions. Results were compared with endoscopic and pathologic findings. Sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV) for CRC detection were calculated. Results: The present study revealed the sensitivity, specificity, PPV and NPV of this self-checked FOBT for CRC detection to be 41% (95% CI: 31-51), 97% (95% CI: 92-99), 93% (95% CI: 81-98) and 63% (95% CI: 55-70), respectively. The overall accuracy of the self-checked FOBT for identifying CRC was 70%. The sensitivity for CRC detection based on 7th AJCC staging was 29% for stage I, 32% for stage II and 50% for stage III/IV (P=0.19). The sensitivity was 33% for proximal colon and 42% for distal colon and rectal cancer (P=0.76). Notably, none of nine infiltrative lesions gave a positive FOBT. Conclusions: The self-checked FOBT had an acceptable accuracy of CRC detection except for infiltrative tumors. This home-administrated or 'DIY' do-it-yourself FOBT could be considered as one non-invasive and convenient tool for CRC screening.

하이브리드 앱 기반의 개인 트레이닝 추천 시스템 (Personal Training Suggestion System based on Hybrid App)

  • Fitness 센터 이용자들은 자신에게 맞지 않은 기구를 선택함으로써 부상의 위험이 존재했고 효율적인 운동 방법을 익히기 위해서는 오랜 시간이 필요했다. 이를 해결하기 위해 사람들은 퍼스널 트레이닝을 이용하지만 값비싼 비용의 문제가 발생하고 혼자 운동하는 습관을 기르는데 어려움을 갖게 했다. 본 논문에서는 다양한 스마트 폰 플랫폼과 호환성을 가진 하이브리드 앱 기반으로 개인화된 트레이닝 마켓 시스템을 구축하였다. 사용자들은 Fitness 센터에서 자신의 운동 기록을 스마트 폰의 하이브리드 앱을 활용해 가속도 센서를 활용하여 입력하거나 직접 입력하는 방식으로 웹에 전송한다. 이를 기반으로 사용자들에게 맞는 운동 프로그램을 웹에 있는 트레이닝 마켓을 통해 제공하게 된다. 퍼스널 트레이닝 마켓에는 다양한 사용자들이 운동 기록을 확인하여 그에 대한 운동 프로그램을 추천할 수 있고 스스로 선택하여 적용할 수 있다. 이를 통해 사용자는 자신에게 맞는 운동 프로그램으로 장기간 운동할 수 있는 습관을 기를 수 있고 능동적인 목표 설정이 가능하다.

유아용 시선 추적 장치의 개발 연구 (Development of Eye Tracker System for Early Childhood)

  • 본 연구는 유아 시선 추적 연구의 특성을 분석하고, 이를 바탕으로 유아를 대상으로 하는 시선 추적 장치를 개발하여, 자료수집 기능을 실험하는데 목적을 두었다. 시선 추적은 눈의 위치와 움직임을 측정하고 분석하는 과정을 통하여, 인간의 인지 및 사고에 대한 과학적인 자료를 제공한다. 본 연구에서 제작한 시선 추적 장치 카메라 모듈은 국내에서 쉽게 구할 수 있는 일반 부품을 활용하여 구성하였고, 분석 소프트웨어는 Arrington Research의 Viewpoint를 사용하였다. 본 연구에서 개발된 시선 추적 장치의 정확도를 검증하기 위하여 시선 추적 전문 기업 Tobii의 시선 추적 장치에서 수집된 시선 추적 자료와 비교하였다. 시선 추적 자료 수집은 만 5세 유아 52명을 대상으로 이루어졌으며, 테스트 결과 유효도를 t 검증으로 분석한 결과 두 시스템 간에 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 이러한 결과는 본 연구에서 개발한 시선 추적 장치가 일정한 실험 환경 내에서 유아의 시선 추적 자료를 수집하는데 적절한 수준의 정확도를 보여준다는 것을 나타낸다.
