Fabrication of UV-C Emitting YPO4:Pr3+ Powder and Properties of YPO4:Pr3+-PVDF Electroluminescence Device (자외선-C 발광 YPO4:Pr3+ 분말제조 및 YPO4:Pr3+-PVDF 전계 발광소자 특성 연구)

  • The ultraviolet-C emitting praseodymium doped yttrium phosphate (YPO4:Pr3+) powder was synthesized by conventional solid-state reaction. The electroluminescence device was fabricated by simple screen-printing method using the synthesized YPO4:Pr3+ powder, especially, polyvinylidene fluoride as an insulating layer was applied on the printed YPO4:Pr3+ powder for stable performance of the electroluminescence. The electroluminescence properties were investigated under alternating current power system of 400 Hz. The device starts to emit at 350 V, which showed the ultraviolet-C emission peaking at the 233, 245, 264, 273 nm attributed to electronic transition of the Pr3+ ions. The electroluminescence intensity was increased as increasing the operating voltage and the device revealed stable performance up to 600 V due to the polyvinylidene fluoride serve as a protective layer.

A Study on Development of Non-Powered Horse Riding Device for Enhancement of Core Muscle (코어근육군 강화를 위한 무동력 승마운동기구개발에 관한 연구)

  • Objective : The aim of this study was to develop the non-powered horse riding device and was to evaluate the elaborate its applicability throughout static structural and transient structural analysis of the outdoor core strength exercise equipment. Method : Fifteen college students (mass: $69.55{\pm}13.38kg$, height: $1.69{\pm}5.61m$, age: $21.42{\pm}1.83yrs$) rode the powered horse riding device and 14 college students (mass: $71.12{\pm}9.74kg$, height: $1.73{\pm}3.31m$, age: $22.50{\pm}1.47yrs$) rode the non-powered horse riding device for the comparison. All motion capture data was collected at 100 Hz using six infrared cameras and the muscular activities were collected using a Delsys Trigno wireless system. The peak forward/backward lean angle, range of motion anter/posterior and vertical COM(Center of mass) movement of trunk and pelvis segment, and muscle activities of six muscles were compared between the two devices by using independent t-test (p<.05). Results : Several kinematic variables (peak forward-backward lean angle and vertical COM movement of trunk and pelvis segment, range of motion of trunk) significantly different between non-powered and powered horse riding device. The muscle activities of Rectus abdominis and External oblique of abdomen on the non-powered horse riding device were significantly greater than those of the powered device. Conclusion : It was concluded that non-power horse riding device could give the effect of core strength exercise as well as the body motion which can simulate the powered horse riding device.

  • General industrial robots are difficult to use for precision assembly because they are operated based on position control. Their position accuracy is also usually higher than the assembly clearance (several tens of ${\mu}m$). In previous researches, force control was suggested as a robotic assembly solution. However, this method is difficult to apply in reality because of speed and cost problems. The RCC provides high speed, but applications are limited because the compliance is fixed, and it cannot detect an assembly condition during a task. A variable passive compliance device (VPCD) was developed herein. The VPCD can detect the assembly condition during tasks. This device can provide proper compliance for successful assembly tasks. The pneumatic system and the Stewart platform with an LVDT sensor were applied for measuring the displacement and variable compliance, respectively. The concept design and analysis were conducted to prove the effectiveness of the developed VPCD.

  • The activities per volume of $^{188}Re$ and $^{99m}Tc$ from their generators are dependent on the specific activity of their mother nuclides $^{188}W$ and $^{99}Mo$ respectively. After a particular lapse of time, the eluted RI activity is exponentially reduced and thus cannot satisfy the needs of clinical application. The purpose of this study is to develop a $^{188}Re$ and $^{99m}Tc$ concentration device with a compact size that can extend the period of use as well as conveniently concentrate the RI. We designed the concentration module by including two-different check valves that do not required any manual on-off operations. In these concentration process, cation exchange resin embedded with Ag and anion exchange resins were used. After completing the concentrating step, the recovering yield was identified to be more than 93% for $^{188}Re$ generators and 88% for $^{99m}Tc$ generators. Moreover, all these procedures were done within 5 min.

  • It is currently associated with the increase in smart home devices. So they are getting a lot IoT platform for managing and integrating these devices. However, existing platforms lack the firmware management for each device. In this paper, We will make easier the management of firmware, using a technique called POTA. This technology is a technology that allows you to update the firmware using a wireless internet without a computer and Utilizing the TR-069 protocol, we propose a system for controlling each device in CPE.

  • We developed a new device structure using anisotropic phase separation from liquid crystal (LC) and polymer composite materials using UV intensity variation and polymer wetting properties. In the device, the LC molecules are isolated in pixels where LCs are surrounded by the inter-pixel vertical polymer walls and the horizontal polymer films on the upper substrate. These devices show very good mechanical stability against external pressure. The electro-optic characteristics and the mechanical stability of the devices are discussed in view of the flexible display applications.
