  • In this study, how international diversification of domestic companies increases corporate profits and increases the dividend income of paid-in capital investors, who provided the basis for corporate business activities in the process of distributing profits. I tried to find out if it had an effect. An empirical analysis was conducted using a fixed-effect model for companies with settlements at the end of December listed on the domestic securities market from 2011 to 2018. It was confirmed that the higher the level of international diversification of individual companies, the higher the company's dividend payout ratio and dividend yield. This means that companies can steadily expand corporate profits and dividend yield of shareholders by securing new overseas markets through international diversification, it can be seen that a company's international diversification strategy can contribute to the increase of corporate value by increasing the company's dividend payout ratio by increasing dividendable profit.

  • Globalization of economy brings both opportunities and threats especially for companies in developing countries such as Korea. Globalization is an opportunity because it may expand the size of market for the company where globalization brings a threat for developing global competitiveness. If the company has already built competitive advantage in its business domain, the company can easily transfer market growth to profit improvement. However, if the company has not developed competitive advantage, globalization of economy will give a serious threat for the survivor of the company. The company might lose its own domestic market share. For the less famous brand of product or company name, international expansion is a challenging strategy. The study evaluated organizational performance of companies that try international expansion by utilizing Miles and Snow's strategy typology. We clustered organizations based on their strategy typology (prospector, analyzer, defender, and reactor) in view of the level of product diversification, new product development instances, level of localization, and autonomy of foreign subsidiary. With the strategy typology, we evaluated international strategy in view of product competitiveness, marketing strategy, human resource strategy, and organizational strategy. The regression result demonstrates that the performance of the company is significantly higher when the company employs prospector strategy. We also found out that product quality and emphasis for developed countries in international expansion are the most important factors for success.

  • The rapid expansion of regionalism has resulted in the creation of blocs of the global economy, so that those countries not belonging to one or more blocs can be discriminated. The purpose of this paper is to examine the competition policy theoretically, international background with issues, and discussion trend of global enterprise. By doing them, this paper suggests the responsive plan, future prospects, and policy directions for the competition policy by distribution service. There is not a statistically significant relationship between international diversification strategy and firm performance. However, we observed some tendency that the larger the firm size, the higher the firm performance, assuming the degree of international diversification or multinationality to be constant. However, the export productivity increase after 1~2 years, and there exits a clear evidence that the innovation investment increases a firm's export competitiveness as time goes on.

  • Flounder was selected as one of the 10 strategic export aquaculture products for seafood export expansion in 2013. The flounder aquaculture industry has promoted export market diversification and product diversification from live to processed goods as a it's main strategy. The purpose of this study is to find an improvement plan for export expansion to the United States, as it emerged as a new target export market for the flounder. A summary of the key findings is as follows. First, the western region of the United States prefers to consume live and fresh flounder, whereas the eastern region prefers to consume fresh flounder. Second, because of it's high quality, Korean flounder is favored in the western region of the United States despite it's high price, whereas in the eastern region of the United States, where production volume is high, Korean flounder has to compete with US flounders because of it's high price. Third, according to the survey results, US consumers tend to enjoy seafood, as well as flounder cuisines. Fourth, the main consumption place of flounders by US consumers are restaurants, and they prefer to consume them in the form of sashimi and sushi. Fifth, 70% of US consumers expressed willingness to consume flounder when eating out. which shows great market potential. However, the high price of Korean flounder and limited size of the live fish market act as major obstacles to expanding export volume. To expand exporting Korean flounder, continuos efforts such as price reduction, exporting highly fresh fish, the co-development of processed food with the US are needed.

  • Many of logistics-related research in automobile industry has focused on inbound logistics and procurement. Research into outbound logistics is relatively few. As a starting research into outbound logistics in automobile industry, this paper examined its logistics network problems with three aspects - location strategy, inventory strategy and transportation strategy. We proposed alternatives of logistics network design resolution, and presented three practical scenarios based on those alternatives. Based on interview, on-site visit and internal data collection processes, we identified major domestic outbound logistics problems such as redundant logistics bases, inefficient delivery policy, insufficient inventory capacity, inventory stock quality deterioration, inefficient transportation system, and etc. In order to cope with those problems, we proposed such strategic alternatives as introduction of hub-and-spoke system, integration of logistics bases, introduction of (automatic) parking building, diversification of transportation mode, and etc. At the same time, we constructed three practically executable scenarios based on those ideas. The first is "Center Hub" scenario, the second is "Metropolitan Hub" scenario. The third and last scenario is "Regional Consolidation of Warehouses (distribution centers)".

The building technologies of the wooden construction have been actively developed in all over the world through the diversification of new materials and construction methods. On the other hand, the growth rate of wooden construction market is still slow in Korea. In an attempt to promote the Korean traditional wooden buildings, a comprehensive research project has been conducted. This R&D project is developing standard designs, new materials, and methods for modernized Hanok including houses, public buildings, long-span structures, and even high-rise buildings. To this end, the purpose of this study is to formulate a technological strategy for popularization of modernized Hanok. Influencing variables and issues are analyzed and defined first. • The researchers in strategic management have focused on identifying the effects of CEO's demographic characteristics and experience on the strategic choices and performance of firms. On the other hand, they have failed to identifying the effects of CEO's psychological characteristics on them because of the difficulties over data collection and measurement for variables. To overcome this limitation of prior researches, this study is designed to achieve two specific objectives. The first is to examine the effect of CEO narcissism on diversification strategy and performance of listed corporations on Korean securities market in an economic downturn. The other is to examine the moderating effects of various corporate governance systems that are related to board and/or ownership structures on those relationships. The empirical setting for this study was drawn from a multi-year(2011~2014) sample of large listed corporations in Korean securities market. To achieve the objectives, the hypotheses of research are analyzed by implementing multiple regression analyses in two separate models. The results of these analyses show that CEO narcissism is positively related to the diversification of listed large corporations in Korean securities market. Regrading the moderating effects, the stake of institutional investors weakens the positive relationship between CEO narcissism and firm's diversification. The findings of this research imply that CEO narcissism can intensify the tendency of Korean corporations to adopt high-risk and high return strategy in an economic downturn. Thus, firms might be able to use CEO narcissism to drastically restructure the business portfolio in an economic downturn. However, Korean corporations should be very cautions to maximize the positive effect of CEO narcissism. They might be use the institutional investors as their corporate governance system to monitor and control the opportunism of CEO in the decision for diversification in an economic downturn.
