  • Let's say that we are given a k number of random variables following Poisson distribution that are individually dependent and which forms multivariate Poisson distribution. We particularly dealt with a method of creating random numbers that satisfies the covariance matrix, where the elements of covariance matrix are parameters forming a multivariate Poisson distribution. To create such random numbers, we propose a new algorithm based on the method reducing the number of parameter set and deal with its relationship to the Park et al.(1996) algorithm used in creating multivariate Bernoulli random numbers.

  • The inverse Weibull distribution (IWD) is the complementary Weibull distribution and plays an important role in many application areas. In Bayesian analysis, Soland's method can be considered to avoid computational complexities. One limitation of this approach is that parameters of interest are restricted to a finite number of values. This paper introduce nonparametric Bayesian estimator in the context of record statistics values from the exponentiated inverse Weibull distribution (EIWD). In stead of Soland's conjugate piror, stick-breaking prior is considered and the corresponding Bayesian estimators under the squared error loss function (quadratic loss) and LINEX loss function are obtained and compared with other estimators. The results may be of interest especially when only record values are stored.

  • In this study, Chiu's velocity distribution equation recently developed from the probability and entropy concepts is used to establish a linkage between the mean velocity obtained from the Manning's equation and the corresponding velocity distribution in a channel cross section. The linkage to be established enables computing the velocity distribution along with the mean velocity, from simple hydraulic data such as Manning's n, hydraulic radius and channel slope irrespective of including sediment or not.

  • One of the important statistical quantities for optical waves through random media is the probability distribution of irradiance. From phenomenological models, several distribution functions have been proposed. In this paper, irradiance data are obtained by computer simulation, and by comparing the proposed distribution functions with simulation data by the moment method, the histogram method, and the $x^2$-test, the validity of each distribution function is investigated.

  • Recently, CV, CN-CV and CNCV-W cable are used for HVDC transmission and distribution cable. However, XLPE which is used as insulation layer of power cable has thermosetting properties. It is very difficult to recycling. In this paper, we prepared HDPE/EVA film, which the blending ratio are 80:20, 70:30, 60:40, 50;50 respectively for the purpose of recycling. Main factor such as electric field distribution and its resistivity in insulation system affected on insulation performance and reliability for HVDC applications. Therefore, electric field distribution formed by space charge and characteristics of volume resistivity was currently investigated. We suggest the possibility of utilization for HVDC insulation layer from the results.

  • This paper discusses a DC distribution system which has been supplied by external AC systems as well as local microturbine distributed generation system in order to demonstrate an overall solution to power quality issue. Based on the dynamic model of the converter, a design procedure has been presented. In this paper, the power flow control in DC distribution system has been achieved by network converters. A suitable control strategy for these converters has been proposed, too. They have DC voltage droop regulator and novel instantaneous power regulation scheme. Also, a novel control system has been proposed for MT converter. Several case studies have been studied and the simulation results show that DC distribution system including microturbine unit can provide the premium power quality using proposed methods.

  • This paper investigates the transient characteristics of grounding systems used in under-ground distribution power cables. Recently, two kinds of grounding system are used for underground distribution cables in Korea. The first one is conventional multi-point grounding system, the other is newly proposed non-bundled common grounding system. The non-bundled common grounding system has an advantage the decreasing the power loss due to decrease of the shield circulation current. In this paper, the lightning overvoltage induced in neutral wire (in case of non-bundled common grounding system, overvoltage between opened neural wires and grounding in each phase) of these two kinds of grounding systems are estimated and compared by field tests and EMTP simulations. The EMTP simulation methods are firstly verified by comparison of measurement and simulation. Finally, the insulation level against lightning is expected by EMTP simulation results using verified model.

  • Electric power distribution networks are prime examples of systems where a very high degree of reliability is expected. Reliability is the probability of a device or system performing its function adequately for the period of time intended and intented operating conditions intented. This paper shows that a better meshed distribution configuration over the case study of radial configuration distribution system was selected by comparing the indices obtained from EDSA\`s reliability worth assessment of distribution systems program.

  • Power supplying capacity of the distribution feeder should be maintained within thermal capacity of the wire. This paper presents the minimum spanning tree based load balancing technique to release multiple overloading of distribution feeders. In order to minimize number of involved backup feeders, Dijkstra and Prim algorithm are adopted to construct minimum spanning tree. Simulation testing result based on part of KEPCO's commercial distribution systems shows effectiveness of proposed scheme.

  • The main purpose of the distribution automation system (DAS) is to achieve efficient operation of primary distribution systems by monitoring and control of the feeder remote terminal unit(FRTU) deployed on the distribution feeders. DAS simulators are introduced to verify the functions of the application software installed in the central control unit(CCU) of the DAS. Because each DAS is developed on the basis of its own specific data model, the power system data cannot be easily transferred from the DAS to the simulator or vice versa. This paper presents a common information model(CIM)-based DAS simulator to achieve interoperability between the simulator and the DASs developed by different vendors. The CIM-based data model conversion between Smart DMS (SDMS) and Total DAS (TDAS) has been performed to establish feasibility of the proposed scheme.
