N(2D) Product Velocity Mapped Imaging in the VUV Photolysis of Nitrous Oxide at 118.2 nm

  • Resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization with time-of-flight product imaging of the $N(^2D)$ atoms has been used to study the $N_2O$ photodissociation at 118.2 nm and the two-photon dissociation at 268.9 nm. These imaging experiments allowed the determination of the total kinetic energy distribution of the $NO(X^2{\prod})$ and $N(^2D_{5/2})$ products. The $NO(X^2{\prod})$ fragments resulting from the photodissociation processes are produced in highly vibrationally excited states. The two-photon photodissociation process yields a broad $NO(X^2{\prod})$ vibrational energy distribution, while the 118.2 nm dissociation appears to produce a vibrational distribution sharply peaked at $NO(X^2{\prod},\;{\nu}=14)$.

  • These studies had performed a plans for preservation and distribution of Ilex cormuta community Mt. Keumsung($35^{\circ}05'\;N,\;126^{\circ}04'\;E$) in Naju, Chonnam from Arpil, 1997 to October by Braun-Blanquet' method(1964). According to the vegetation table of community, the plant communities of the investigated sites were classified Ilex corunta-Trachelospermum asiaticum var. intermedium commnity. Now there still remains the natural environment to be developed in coast district around the riverside distributing Ilex cornuta Lindl., so it has scientifically high value to predict change of the ecosystem and preserve the community distribution.   • Heating channel layout design and evaluation technology for SMC molding system was investigated in this work. Traditional rules of cooling channel design in injection molding were applied to the present work. Finite element thermal analysis with $ANSYS^{TM}$ was performed to evaluate the temperature distribution of SHC mold surface. SMC mold was manufactured to evaluate the effect of a proposed heating channel layout system on the temperature distribution of SMC mold surface and infrared camera was applied to a measurement of temperature distribution. It was shown that infrared camera application was possible in a measurement of temperature distribution on SHC mold surface.

  • Exponentiated distribution has been used in reliability and survival analysis especially when the data is censored. In this paper, we derive Bayesian estimation of the shape parameter, reliability function and failure rate function in the exponentiated distribution family based on Type-II right censored data. We here consider conjugate prior and noninformative prior and corresponding posterior distributions are obtained. As an illustration, the mean square errors of the estimates are computed. Comparisons are made between these estimators using Monte Carlo simulation study.

  • The flexible AC transmission system (FACTS) provides a new advanced technology solution to improve the flexibility, controllability, and stability of a power system. The unified power flow controller (UPFC) is outstanding for regulating power flow in the FACTS; it can control the real power, reactive power, and node voltage of distribution networks. This paper investigates the performance of the UPFC for power flow control with a series of step changes in rapid succession in a power system steady state and the response of the UPFC to distribution network faults and islanding mode. Simulation was carried out using the MATLAB's simulink sim power systems toolbox. The results, which were carried out on a 5-bus test system and a 4-bus multi-machine electric power system, show clearly the effectiveness and viability of UPFC in rapid response and independent control of the real and reactive power flows and oscillation damping [6].

  • In this paper, the electric field distribution induced inside the brain during Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation(TMS) has been thoroughly investigated in terms of tissue heterogeneity and anisotropy as well as different head models. To achieve this, first, an elaborate head model consisting of seven major parts of the head has been built based on the Magnetic Resonance(MR) image data. Then the Finite Element Method(FEM) has been used to evaluate the electric field distribution under different head models or three different conductivity conditions when the head model has been exposed to a time varying magnetic field achieved by utilizing the Figure-Of-Eight(FOE) stimulation coil. The results show that the magnitude as well as the distribution of the induced field is significantly affected by the degree of geometrical asymmetry of head models and conductivity conditions with respect to the center of the FOE coil.

  • This paper describes the method for proper location of protective equipment in underground distribution cable through field test and analysis at testing lines. To prove the reliability for analysis simulated by EMTP/ATPDraw, the testing results obtained by the real test and the analysis for the same test lines were compared each other. The accuracy of analysis was proved by the comparison. Over voltages were measured and analyzed at each point of cable and switches in case of which lightning surge current was applied. The analysing method was applied to real distribution systems to select the proper location of protective equipment. It is evaluated that the location of protective equipment was properly selected.

  • In order to assess the reliability of the electronics control unit for vehicles, accelerated life test model and procedure are developed. By using this method, failure mechanism and life distribution are analyzed. The main results are as follows : i) the main failure mechanism is degradation failure that is, junction destruction of a semiconductor resin by high temperature. ii) the life distribution of the electronics control unit for vehicles is fitted well to Weibull life distribution and the accelerated life model of that is fitted well to Arrhenius model. iii) at the result of the life distribution, accelerated life test method is developed, and test time for life assessment will be shortened by 5,000 hours by this test method.

  • This paper proposes the planning method for placement of capacitors in a distribution system. The main objectives in the planning for capacitor allocation are the reduction of installation costs and electric power loss. In the proposed method, the life time of each device is considered in calculating installation costs, and the optimal operation status of devices is found by genetic algorithm. Then, the optimal numbers and locations are determined based on the optimal operation status. Simulation results in the 69-bus distribution system show that the proposed method performs better than conventional methods.

  • In order to evaluate the nominal rating of breakers in distribution system due to the increased capacity and operating conditions of power transformers in 154 kV substation, the fault currents in distribution system were calculated by the conventional method and simulations of PSCAD/EMTDC program. Consequently, under the condition of the parallel operation of transformers, the fault currents exceed the nominal current of the breakers in some areas. Without NGR at the secondary neutral of the transformer, the current of single line-to-ground fault was bigger than that of 3-phase fault. Therefore, the results clearly show that the measures to limit the fault currents in distribution system are needed when the increased capacity of power transformers is introduced into 154 kV substation.
