  • Purpose - This study reviews changes in the steel export-import structure between Korea and Japan using a trade related index; it focuses on analyzing comparative advantage based on time-series analysis statistics data using the trade intensity index (TII), revealed comparative advantage index (RCA), and trade specialization index (TSI). Research design, data, and methodology - In terms of their economic phase, Korea and Japan have a mutually complementary character. Therefore, this study aims to understand each country's trade structure to strengthen Korea-Japan economic cooperation, examine trade drawbacks, analyze factors that affect trade, and identify ways to improve and expand trade. Results - The results indicate immense potential for mutual cooperation and complementariness, which will yield guaranteed adequate profits comparable to those of any regional economic integrated community. Conclusion - From our viewpoint, Northeast economic cooperation can facilitate industry technological cooperation with Japanese partners in the prevailing environment that is characterized by increasing competition among industries and the need to secure stable resource supplies as well as the expansion of the export market and diversification, which can have significant positive implications.

  • Purpose - This study aimed to explore and examine the government policies and supporting systems of the traditional market in Korea. Research design / data / methodology - Recognizing these problems, the Korean government enacted three special legislations and adopted six support policies in support of the traditional markets. Results - Those markets with modernized stores, parking lots, and arcades have certainly increased sales and the number of customers. However, this uniform modernization support policy was short of supporting strategies that could have developed characteristics and advantages of each market, so many markets and merchants lost self-sustainable ability and ended up with relying on government support. Conclusions - The study indicates that Small & Medium Business Administration's role in implementing government policies including selection of the markets that needed to be modernized, developing commercial areas in connection with traditional market and neighboring shopping streets, customizing and improving distribution system, developing specialty stores, merchant college, merchants' self-sustainable ability, and creating convenient and safe shopping environment is vital to traditional markets' future success.

  • We propose a generative probabilistic model with Dirichlet prior distribution for topic modeling and text similarity analysis. It assigns a topic and calculates text correlation between documents within a corpus. It also provides posterior probabilities that are assigned to each topic of a document based on the prior distribution in the corpus. We then present a Gibbs sampling algorithm for inference about the posterior distribution and compute text correlation among 50 abstracts from the papers published by IEEE. We also conduct a supervised learning to set a benchmark that justifies the performance of the LDA (Latent Dirichlet Allocation). The experiments show that the accuracy for topic assignment to a certain document is 76% for LDA. The results for supervised learning show the accuracy of 61%, the precision of 93% and the f1-score of 96%. A discussion for experimental results indicates a thorough justification based on probabilities, distributions, evaluation metrics and correlation coefficients with respect to topic assignment.

  • A method of calculation of temperature distribution during welding was studied and compared with the existing formulas and experimental results. In contrast to the existing formulas which are founded on the suppositions that the heat source is a point and that the dimensions of welded pieces are infinite, we tried to make the distribution of calorific density of heat source approach reality more closely, so we considered it as a normal distribution of Gauss, and we presented the formulas for calculation of temperature during welding. We also used the principle of superposition for the temperature calculations of finite welded pieces. We compared the formulas presented in this paper with the existing formulas by calculations for the welding of various materials, and considerable differences around the heat source were convinced. The thermal cycles of various points were traced through the welding experiments for the mild steel, and they were compared with the results of calculations.

  • In brake systems, a proportioning valve(P. V), which reduces the brake line pressure on each wheel cylinder for the anti-locking of rear wheels, is closely related to the safety of vehicles. However, it is impossible for current P. V. s to completely control brake line pressure because, mechanically, it is an open loop control system. In this paper we describe an electronic brake force distribution system using a direct adaptive fuzzy controller in order to completely control brake line pressure using a closed loop control system. The objective of the electronic brake force distribution system is to change the cut-in-pressure and the valve slop of the P. V in order to obtain better performance of the brake system than with mechanical systems.

  • Many vehicle routing methods have been suggested, which minimize the routing distances of vehicles to reduce the total transportation cost. But the more considerations the method takes, the higher complexites are involved in a large number of practical situations. The purpose of this paper is to develop a vehicle distribution planning system using heuristic algorithms and simulation techniques for home electronics companies. The vehicle distribution planning system developed by this study involve so complicated and stochastic conditions such as one depot, multiple nodes(demand points), multiple vehicle types, multiple order items, and other many restrictions for operating vehicles. The proposed system is compared with the nearest neighbor method and the savings method in terms of total logistics cost and driving time. This heuristic algorithm and simulation based distribution planning system is efficient in computational complexity, and give improved solutions with respect to the cost as well as the time. This method constructs a route with a minimum number of vehicles for a given demand.

  • This study aims to discuss the location characteristics and present distribution of facilities in the rural community. The purpose of this study is to suggest the basic data of the planning of facilities corresponding to the living sphere in community. The circumstances, location and distribution of the rural area facilities was analyzed through field investigation and interview. lt is necessary for ameliorating the income of inhabitants and the status of living environment to make a general local plan in developing rural area. That will be a solution to tackle the decreasement of population in the rural area. The survey's result is observed different by the feature of rural area, adjacence with near rural center, scale of rural center. So a standard of the various facility's arrangement plan must be established, and it must be enlarged in rural area.

  • Purpose - This study examines a bundling effect on production and distribution in a patent-protected industry. Despite the heavy use of bundling strategies in the information and technology industry, literature has paid scant attention to bundling of intellectual property rights. This study examines a theoretical exploration of the bundling effect on licensing behavior. Research design, data, and methodology - To address this behavior, we build a simplified model consisting of three stages: 1) bundling decision, 2) licensing agreement, and 3) competition. The subgame perfect Nash equilibrium is applied to the model. Results - A single-patent holder with superior technology grants its own license to the multiple-patent firm, thereby leaving the market. Anticipating the single right holder's licensing strategy, the multiple-patent firm offers a bundle, making the single-right holder's bargaining position weaker. Conclusions - Bundling is an effective business strategy, resulting in multiple products for a firm as it faces other firms with single-product lines in each market. Taking advantage of the multi-patent or multi-product lines, the firm utilizes the bundling strategy obtaining better technology from the standalone single-patent firms.

  • Purpose - This paper reviews the change of steel export-import structure between Japan and China by the courtesy of international business reference index and stress to analyze comparative advantage under the circumstance of time-series evaluating database by 3 indexes. Research design, data, methodology - Per economic phase, both China-Japan have mutually a complementary base. Under this kind of view point, the reason why to conduct this study is to realize how this 2 country's trade competitiveness should be improved and strengthened. Results - Under this research data and analysis outcomes, bilateral intra-economy's potential supplementation is enormous. Additionally, expected benefits from here are so sufficiently assured as we compare them with any other regional economic integrated society. Conclusions - When we review our economic point of view, Northeast economic cooperations between China and Japan can provide a chance for industrial technological cooperations not only in steel business but also in other business areas. Come to think of the circumstance to accelerate competitions between 2 country's industries past time and acknowledge concrete resource supplier including expanding export market and diversification.

  • The purpose of this study was to describe the difference of weight distribution between healthy persons and low back pain patients during normal standing posture and to help the evaluation of weight bearing. 30 healthy persons and 30 low back pain patients being treated as hospitals in Taegu area participated in this study. The results were 2.63kg id the difference of weight distribution of healthy group and 3.04kg in low back pain group. This study was not significantly different between healthy and low back pain group.
