  • The paper proposes a simple method to calculate the portion of real power losses allocated to individual loads. The method is implemented by loss distribution factors, and analyses the share of loads in transmission line losses. Effectiveness of the algorithm is verified by a computer simulation. The results can be used to compute the cost of ancillary services under deregulated environment in electric power industries.

  • We shall derive the moment of the ratio Y/(X + Y) and the reliability P(X < Y ), and then observe the skewness of the ratio in a bivariate Pareto density function of (X, Y). And we shall consider an approximate MLE of parameters in the bivariate Pareto density function.

  • We consider estimation of the right-tail probability in a log-Laplace random variable, As we derive the density of ratio of two independent log-Laplace random variables, the k-th moment of the ratio is represented by a special mathematical function. and hence variance of the ratio can be represented by a psi-function.

  • The bivariate data in clinical research fields often has two types of failure times, which are mark variable for the first failure time and the final failure time. This paper showed how to generate bootstrap data to get Bayesian estimation for the joint distribution of bivariate survival times. The observed data was generated by Frank's family and the fake date is simulated with the Gamma prior of survival time. The bootstrap data was obtained by combining the mimic data with the observed data and the simulated fake data from the observed data.

  • This paper considers overload control in telecommunication networks. Markov-modulated Bernoulli process ( MMBP ) has been extensively used to model bursty traffics with time-correlation. Thus, we investigate the transient behavior of the queueing system MMBP/D/l/K queue with two thresholds. The model is analyzed recursively by using the generating function method. We obtain the transient queue length distribution and waiting time distribution at an arbitrary time. The transient behavior of the queueing system helps observing the temporary system behavior.

  • The concept of sub-independence is based on the convolution of the distributions of the random variables. It is much weaker than that of independence, but is shown to be sufficient to yield the conclusions of important theorems and results in probability and statistics. It also provides a measure of dissociation between two random variables which is much stronger than uncorrelatedness. Inspired by the excellent work of Jin and Lee (2014), we present certain characterizations of gamma distribution based on the concept of sub-independence.

  • In this paper, we extend the concept of the pseudo differential operators in the usual Schwartz's distribution spaces to the one of the generalized pseudo differential operators in the Beurling's generalized distribution spaces. And we shall investigate some properties of the generalized pseudo differential operators including the generalized pseudo local property. Finally, we will study the smoothness and properly supported property of these operators.

  • Two new types of positive biasedness, which are closely related to Type III positive biasedness (Yanagimoto and Sibuya, 1972), are proposed. We call these near Type III positive biasedness. Though no implication between Type II and near Type III biasedness exists, near Type III seems to be less restrictive than Type II biasedness. Constrained maximum likelihood estimates of distribution functions under near Type III positive bisedness are obtained. The likelihood ratio tests of symmetry against new positive biasedness restrictions are proposed. A small simulation study is conducted to compare the performance of the tests.

  • In this study, we propose definitions for the one-sided variance for asymmetric distribution. We consider to apply the one-sided variance to the construction to define modified $C_{pk}$, which is a definition for the process capability index for the asymmetric process distribution. Then we consider to obtain the consistent estimation for the one-sided variance and to apply to the various industrial fields.
