  • Recent power quality measurement projects report that voltage sags are the most frequent disturbances in the sites [1]-[4]. DVRs were emerged as the best effective and economic solution for this problem [11]. This paper analyzed the power flow of a DVR in distribution grids. This paper showed various operation modes and boundaries such as inductive operation, capacitive operation, and minimal power operation beside the in-phase compensation.

A Simple Nonparametric Test of Complete Independence

  • A simple nonparametric test of complete or total independence is suggested for continuous multivariate distributions. This procedure first discretizes the original variables based on their order statistics, and then tests the hypothesis of complete independence for the resulting contingency table. Under the hypothesis of independence, the chi-squared test statistic has an asymptotic chi-squared distribution. We present a simulation study to illustrate the accuracy in finite samples of the limiting distribution of the test statistic. We compare our method to another nonparametric test of complete independence via a simulation study. Finally, we apply our method to the residuals from a real data set.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop the implant which has superior stress distribution and primary stability to others by using Instron test and finite element method. The model used in the experiment were cylinder type implant, tapered screw type implant, screw type implants. Recognizing that the number of samples were small and the lack of applying press-fit conditions to the cylinder type, we can make the following conclusions.

  • We analyze an M/G/1 queueing system under $P_{\lambda,\tau}^M$ service policy. By using the level crossing theory and solving the corresponding integral equations, we obtain the stationary distribution of the workload in the system explicitly.

  • This paper is proposed the parametric empirical Bayes(EB) confidence intervals which corrects the deficiencies in the naive EB confidence intervals of the scale parameter in the Weibull distribution under item-censoring scheme. In this case, the bootstrap EB confidence intervals are obtained by the parametric bootstrap introduced by Laird and Louis(1987). The comparisons among the bootstrap and the naive EB confidence intervals through Monte Carlo study are also presented.

  • A dynamic discount approach is proposed for the estimation of the Poisson parameter and the forecasting of the Poisson random variable, where the parameter of the Poisson distribution varies over time intervals. The recursive estimation procedure of the Poisson parameter is provided. Also the forecasted distribution of the Poisson random variable in the next time interval based on the information gathered until the current time interval is provided.

On The Generation of Multivariate Multinomial Random Numbers

  • Softwares including random number generation are abundant in modern informative society. But it's hard to get directly multivariate multinomial random numbers from existing softwares. Multivariate multinomial random numbers are greatly used in social and medical sciences. In this paper, we show that desired multivariate multinomial random numbers can be easily generated by the aids of existing random number generating software. Some characteristics of multivariate multinomial distribution are surveyd. Measures of association for the generated random numbers were computed and compared with population ones via simulation study.

  • In this paper, it is investigated the properties of the transformed geometric Poisson process when the intensity function of the process is a distribution of the continuous random variable. If the intensity function of the transformed geometric Poisson process is a Pareto distribution then the transformed geometric Poisson process is a strongly P-process.

  • This paper considers a linear regression model with censored data where each error term follows a multivariate normal distribution. In this paper we consider the diffuse prior distribution for parameters of the linear regression model. With censored data we derive the full conditional densities for parameters of a multiple regression model in order to obtain the marginal posterior densities of the relevant parameters through the Gibbs Sampler, which was proposed by Geman and Geman(1984) and utilized by Gelfand and Smith(1990) with statistical viewpoint.
