The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of ethanol on the emulsion prepared by poly(oxyethylene) hydrogenated castor oils (HCOs)/oil/ethanol/water system. Emulsions were prepared using homogenizer as high-energy method. To evaluate effect of ethanol on the emulsion, physical properties such as droplet size and size distribution were determined and other components were almost fixed to analyze the effect of ethanol on the surfactant. In case of HCO-20, the droplet diameter was in micrometers and the droplet size was gradually deceased as the ethanol concentration was increased. The droplet diameter of nano-emulsion containing 4.00 % of HCO-30 was shown in nanometers and its mean droplet size was $128.15{\pm}1.06nm$ and the most stable at the 4.25 % of ethanol contents by the Form. 1 and $136.10{\pm}0.99nm$ at the 3.50 % of ethanol contents by the Form. 2. Similarly, the droplet diameter of nano-emulsion containing 4.00 % of HCO-40 and 4.50 % ethanol by the Form. 1 was $115.85{\pm}0.78nm$ and $121.15{\pm}0.35nm$ at the 3.25 % of ethanol by the Form. 2 and both size distributions were also narrow. Finally, the droplet size of nano-emulsion containing 4.00 % of HCO-60 and 2.25 % ethanol was $262.35{\pm}0.64nm$ and the most stable. The higher ethanol concentrations became the smaller size of emulsion became in the microscale emulsion but we determined nano-emulsion had a minimum size at a certain ethanol concentration. The results showed that the breakdown process of this nano-emulsion could be attributed to Ostwald ripening. This study about effect of ethanol on the emulsion showed that ethanol contents to prepare a stable emulsion could be determined as studying the effect of ethanol on the emulsion with the type of surfactants.

The quantitative knowledge of N $O_{\gamma}$ (=N $O_{x}$ +HN $O_3$+/PAN+N $O_3$ +$N_2$$O_{5}$ +HN $O_2$+N $O_3$$^{-10}$ +organic nitrates+......)distribution is essential in tropospheric chemistry, especially, especially that related to understanding the processes leading to ozone production. Ambient concentrations of NO, N $O_2$, HN $O_3$ and PAN as well as total N $O_{\gamma}$ were measured during June and early July 1992 at a rural site(Candor, NC), in the central Piedmont region of NC. The measurements of N $O_{\gamma}$ species were made in an effort to provide a comprehensive understanding of nitrogen chemistry and to investigate the total nitrogen budget at the site. N $O_{\gamma}$, N $O_2$, and NO showed diurnal variations with maxima in the morning. The maximum N $O_{\gamma}$ concentration reached was 14.5 ppbv, and the maximum concentrations of NO and N $O_2$ were 5.4 and 7.8 PPbv, respectively. The mean N $O_{\gamma}$ concentration as found to be 2.88$\pm$1.58 ppbv(n=743). The mean concentrations of NO and N $O_2$, were found to be 0.15 $\pm$ 0.29 ppbv(n=785) and 1.31 $\pm$ 0.99 ppbv(n=769). Products of photochemical oxidants, (N <$O_{\gamma}$-N $O_{x}$ ), such as HN $O_3$ and PAN, as well as ozone showed diurnal variation with maxima in the afternoon and minima at night The fractions of individual reactive nitrogen species to total N $O_{\gamma}$ were investigated and contrasted to the results from remote marine site and rural continental sites. N $O_{x}$ was the major species to total N $O_{\gamma}$(45%). NO concentrations appeared to be nearly constant whether the Prevailing winds were from continental areas or from oceanic areas. Linear regression of $O_3$ with (N $O_{\gamma}$- N $O_{x}$ )/N $O_{\gamma}$ (i.e. percent N $O_{x}$ converted to the photochemical products of N $O_{\gamma}$) yielded ( $O_3$) =25.8 〔 N $O_{\gamma}$-N $O_{x}$ 〕/(N $O_{\gamma}$) +27, ( $r^{2}$=0.58). The regression intercept is interpreted as the ozone back ground (intercept=27ppbv) and the slope suggests that 8.6 molecules of ozone are formed per molecule of N $O_{x}$ oxidized products (when the average N $O_{\gamma}$ concentration, about 3 ppbv at the site, is used). The N $O_{x}$ N $O_{\gamma}$ ratio was used as an indicator of the chemical age of airmasses and the ratio showed strong positive correlations with HN $O_3$( $r^{2}$=0.58), PAN ( $r^{2}$=0.46) and $O_3$( $r^{2}$=0.62). Larger N $O_{\gamma}$ and N $O_{x}$ N $O_{\gamma}$ ratio were found when winds came from continental sides. It may suggest that synoptic meteorological conditions and transport of N $O_{x}$ are important in the distribution of N $O_{\gamma}$ and its relationship with photochemical oxidants at the site.

Flow distribution of water and sedimentation rate were investigated to understand the hydrodynamics and settling characteristics of particulate materials in a constructed wetland for treatment of non-point sources pollutants, the Sihwa constructed wetland, Korea. The Sihwa constructed wetland is divided into three sub-wetlands(the Banwol, the Donghwa and the Samhwa wetlands) to treat the polluted water from three streams, the Banwol stream, the Donghwa stream and the Samhwa stream. From the results of water flow experiment using dye(Rhodamine 50WT Red), it was found that the water flow in the wetland was prevailing at the waterway and open water. Dye was spread slowly in the closed water area planted by plants. The mean hydraulic retention time(HRT) at the upper area of high wetland and lower wetland of Banwol, was found to be 34.1 hr at the upper area and 74.6 hr at the lower area respectively, totaling approximately 108.7 hr(4.5 days). The sedimentation rate was higher at lower area(sites of B, C and D) of the wetland than upper area(site of A which is settling zone). Based on the forecast for 20 years as to the amount of sediment that can be deposited in the open water in the future, the sediment depth of each area would be like this: A: 6.3 cm, B: 8.3 cm, C: 7.0 cm, D: 9.5 cm. The contents of organic materials in the sediment deposited within the sediment trap were found to be higher overly in the first investigation period which had much rainfall, and B, C and D areas were found to have an increased COD accumulation than A area. Also, nitrogen and phosphorus were found to increase in the down-stream of the wetland. The results of this study suggest that a sustainable research and management for the characteristics of water flow pattern and sedimentation changeable as time passes is needs to maintain or improve the efficiency of water treatment in the constructed wetland.
Purpose : Multileaf collimator(MLC) is very suitable tool for conformal radio-therapy and commissioning measurements for a multileaf collimator installed on a dual energy accelerator with 6 and 10MV photons are required, For modeling the collimator with treament planning software, detailed dosimetric characterization of the multileaf collimator including the penumbra width, leaf transmission between leaf leakage and localization of the leaf ends and sides is an essential requirement. materials and Methods : Measurement of characteristic data of the MLC with 26 pair block leaves installed on CLINAC 2100C linear accelerator was performed. Low sensitive radiographic film(X-omatV) was used for the penumbra measurement and separate experiments using radiographic film and thermoluminescent dosimeters were performed to verify the dose distribution, Measured films were analized with a photodensitometer of WP700i scanner. Results : For 6 & 10 MV x-ray energies, approximately $2.0\%$ of photons incident on the multileaf collimator were transmitted and an additional $0.5\%$ leakage occurs between the leaves. Localizing the physical end of the leaves showed less than 1mm deviation from the $50\%$ decrement line and this difference is attributed to the curved shaped end on the leaves One side of a sin히e leaf corresponded to the $50\%$ decrement line, but the opposite face was aligned with a lower value. This difference is due to the tongue and groove used to decrease between leaf leakage. Alignment of the leaves to form a straight edge resulted larger penumbra at far position from isocenter as compare with divergent alloy blocks. When the MLC edge is stepped by sloping field, the isodose lines follow the leaf pattern and Produce scalloping isodose curves in tissue. The effective penumbra by 45 degree stepped MLC is about 10mm at 10cm depth for 6MV x-ray. The difference of effective penumbra in deep tissue between MLC and divergent alloy blocks is small (5mm). Conclusion : Using the characteristic data of MLC, the MLC has the clinlical acceptability and suitability for 3-D conformal radiotherapy except small field size.

The seasonal variation in species composition and abundance distribution of zooplankton was studied in the Seomjin river estuary along the salinity gradients. In this estuary, marine taxa predominated in all seasons and very limited number of freshwater species appeared. The total abundances showed a seasonal fluctuation. The highest total abundance appeared in spring with over 3,000 individuals/m$^3$. In summer, the high abundance was sustained although it decreased a little. The abundance was minimal in fall with about 500 individuals/m$^3$. When the study area was divided into three salinity regimes, oligohaline (salinity less than 5 psu), mesohaline (5${\sim}$18 psu), and polyhaline zone (over 18 psu), the zone of high abundance as well as the composition of zooplankton community in each salinity regime changed seasonally. In fall, marine copepods predominated in oligohaline zone while marine species other than crustaceans dominated in polyhaline zone. However, in winter copepods predominated in all area. In spring and summer, holozoic dinoflagellate Noctiluca scintillans dominated in higher salinity regimes. We listed major copepod species of each salinity regime for each season with the ranges of water temperatures (T) and salinities (S) of their occurrence. T, S's of maximum abundances of those major copepod species were also reported. The observed very wide tolerance ranges of major copepod species for salinity suggested that the concept of 'indicator species' should be used in quantitative context rather than qualitative.
This study investigated the influence of starch extraction (ST-EX) solutions on the extraction yield and characteristics of Chinese yam (CY) starches from domestic Dioscorea batatas. Ascorbic acid (VitC), $Na_2S_2O_3$, $NaHCO_3$, and $Na_2CO_3$ were used as ST-EX solutions (0.4%, w/v). The extracted CY starches were examined for ST-EX yield, chemical composition, size distribution, X-ray diffraction, solubility, swelling power, gelatinization, and pasting viscosity. The highest ST-EX yield was obtained from $NaHCO_3$, followed by VitC. Lower protein content, relative crystallinity, and gelatinization enthalpy were found in CY starches from alkaline ST-EX solutions ($NaHCO_3$ and $Na_2CO_3$). Size distribution and gelatinization temperature did not generally differ for CY starches from the different ST-EX solutions. Pasting viscosities increased in the order from $Na_2CO_3$ > $Na_2S_2O_3$ > $NaHCO_3$ > VitC ST-EX solutions. Thus, VitC may be most appropriate to extract CY starch from Dioscorea rhizomes, considering its ST-EX yield, total starch content, and variation in pasting viscosity.
The concentrations of quinolones (oxolinic acid; OXA, norlloxacin: NRF & ciprofloxacin: CPF) after oral administration of single doses (20 mg/kg B.W.) were investigated in carp (Cyprinus carpio) kept in freshwater at 20-23$^{\circ}C$. The distribution of the drug was studied after treatment. At points timed, from 1 h to 96 hrs after administration, blood (B), liver (L), kidney (K) and muscle (M) from 5 individuals in each group were collected for analyse with microbiological bioassay method. The peak concentrations were measured at 8 h (L), 12 h (B and K) and 24 h (M) after administration regardless of treated drugs. Considerably high concentrations of CPF (13.8-19.6${\mu}g/m{\ell}$) NRF (11.8-16.9${\mu}g/m{\ell}$) and OXA (10.8-13.9 ${\mu}g/m{\ell}$) were revealed during the 24 h. At the last time point of the experiment (96 h), concentrations of all three quinolones were: OXA, 2.3-6.3 ${\mu}g/m{\ell}$ ; NRF, 3.1-4.5 ${\mu}g/m{\ell}$ ; CPF, 3.0-5.5${\mu}g/m{\ell}$ in samples. The concentrations decreased subsequently, indicating a first rapid redistribution, followed by a slow phase of elimination. The steady state was observed in blood (12-36 h), liver (12-96 h) and muscle (36-96 h) after the initiation of treatment with OXA. Concerning the compartmental concentrations, (L, K. and M/B concentration ratio), the fluctuation of the ratio was founded at different time points, among drugs. For CPF, highest tissue ratios were prolonged in the order of L>K>M (0.65-1.2/0.82-0.93/1.0-1.7) during the experiments. On the other hand, NRF presented L>K>M (0.65-1.3/0.86-1.0) till 24 h, but L>M>K (0.89-1.26) at 36-96 h. OXA showed L>K>M (0.95-2.1) at 1-8 h, M>K>L (0.51-1.0) at 12-36 hand M>L>K (1.0-2.3) at 48-96 h, respectively.
Laboratory column tests using $Cl^-$ tracer were conducted to study the correlation of soil particle distribution and hydrodynamic dispersion mechanism with three kinds of ununiformed soil samples, in which the ratio of gravel and sand versus silt and clay is 24.5 for S-1 soil, 4.48 for S-2 soil, and 0.4 for S-3 soil. Chloride breakthrough curves with time were fitted with gaussian functions. The relative concentrations of chloride were converged to 1.0 after 0.7 hours for S-1, 6.3 hours for S-2, and 389 hours for S-3. Average linear velocity, longitudinal dispersion coefficient, and longitudinal dispersivity were calculated by chloride breakthrough curves. Longitudinal dispersion coefficients were $1.20{\times}10^{-4}\;m^2/sec$ for S-1, $8.87{\times}10^{-7}\;m^2/sec$ for S-2, and $1.94{\times}10^{-9}\;m^2/sec$ for S-3. Peclet numbers calculated by the molecular diffusion coefficient of chloride and the mean grain diameters of soils were $2.59{\times}10^2$ for S-1, $6.27{\times}10^0$ for S-2, and $1.35{\times}10^{-4}$ for S-3. Mechanical dispersion was dominant for the hydrodynamic dispersion mechanism of S-1. Both mechanical dispersion and molecular diffusion were dominant for the hydrodynamic dispersion mechanism of S-2, but mechanical dispersion was ascendant over molecular diffusion. Hydrodynamic dispersion in S-3 was occurred mainly by molecular diffusion. When plotting three soils on the graph of $D_L/D_m$ versus Peclet number produced by Bijeljic and Blunt (2006), the values of $D_L/D_m$ for S-1 and S-2 were more than 2.0 order compared to their graph. S-3 was not plotted on their graph because the Peclet number was as small as $1.35{\times}10^{-4}$.
Purpose : Authors tried to enhance the safety and accuracy of radiosurgery by verifying stereotacitc target point in actual treatment position prior to irradiation. Materials and Methods : Before the actual treatment, several sections of anthropomorphic head phantom were used to create a condition of unknown coordinates of the target point. A film was sandwitched between the phantom sections and punctured by sharp needle tip. The tip of the needle represented the target point. The head phantom was fixed to the stereotactic ring and CT scan was done with CT localizer attached to the ring. After the CT scanning, the stereotactic coordinates of the target point were determined. The head phantom was secured to accelerator's treatment couch and the movement of laser isocenter to the stereotactic coordinates determined by CT scanning was performed using target positioner. Accelerator's anteroposterior and lateral portal films were taken using angiographic localizers. The stereotactic coordinates determined by analysis of portal films were compared with the stereotactic coordinates previously determined by CT scanning. Following the correction of discrepancy the head phantom was irradiated using a stereotactic technique of several arcs. After the irradiation, the film which was sandwitched between the phantom sections was developed and the degree of coincidence between the center of the radiation distribution with the target point represented by the hole in the film was measured. In the treatment of the actual patients, the way of determining the stereotactic coordinates with CT localizers and angiograuhic localizers was the same as the phantom study. After the correction of the discrepancy between two sets of coordinates, we proceeded to the irradiation of the actual patient. Results : In the phantom study, the agreement between the center of the radiation distribution and the localized target point was very good. By measuring optical density profiles of the sandwitched film along axes that intersected the target point, authors could confirm the discrepancy was 0.3 mm. In the treatment of an actual patient, the discrepancy between the stereotactic coordinates with CT localizers and angiographic localizers was 0.6 mm. Conclusion : By verifying stereotactic target point in actual treatment position prior to irradiation, the accuracy and safety of streotactic radiosurgery procedure were established.

This study aims to understand environmental factors that determine spatial distribution of macrozoobenthic community in the southern area (ca 100-500 m depth) of East Sea, Korea, known as a candidate site for carbon storage under the seabed. From sixteen locations sampled in the summer of 2012, a total of 158 species were identified, showing density of $843indiv/m^2$ and biomass of $26.2g\;WW/m^2$, with increasing faunal density towards biologically higher diverse locations. Principal component analysis showed that a total of 33 environmental parameters were reduced to three principal components (PC), indicating sediment, bottom water, and depth, respectively. As sand content was increasing, number of species increased but biomass decreased. Six dominant species including two bivalve species favored high concentrations of ${\Omega}$ aragonite and ${\Omega}$ calcite, indicating that the corresponding species can be severely damaged by ocean acidification or $CO_2$ effluent. Cluaster analysis based on more than 1% density dominant species classified the entire study area into four faunal assemblage (location groups), which were delineated by characteristic species, including (A) Ampelisca miharaensis, (B) Edwardsioides japonica, (C) Maldane cristata, (D) Spiophanes kroeyeri, and clearly separated in terms of geography, bottom water and sediment environment. Overall, a discriminant function model was developed to predict four faunal assemblages from five simply-measured environmental variables (depth, sand content in sediment, temperature, salinity and pH in bottom water) with 100% accuracy, implying that benthic faunal assemablages are closed linked to certain combinations of abiotic factors.
