  • Rubber compounds have a high viscoelastic property. One of the viscoelastic behaviors during profile extrusion is the swelling of extrudate, and the amount of swelling varies with operational conditions in extrusion. It is well recognized that the elastic portion in the viscoelastic property plays an important role in the extrudate swell. In this study computer simulation of the die swell at the capillary die for several rubber compounds has been performed using commercial CFD code, Polyflow. A non-linear differential viscoelastic model, Phan-Thien-Tanner (PTT) model, was used in the computer simulation. Non-isothermal behavior was considered in the calculation. Distribution of pressure, velocity and temperature in the reservoir and capillary die, and extrudate profiles were predicted through the simulation. The amount of the die swell fur the different rubber compounds was investigated for various flow rates and three types of length to diameter of the capillary die. It is concluded that the PTT model successfully represented viscoelastic behavior of rubber compounds.

  • Decision of available soil depth based on soil physical and hydraulic properties for the $3^{rd}$ Landscape Vegetation Project in the Incheon International Airport was attempted. The soil samples were collected from the 8 sites at different depths, 0-20 and 20-60cm, for the three project fields, A, B, and C area. Physical and chemical properties including particle size distribution, organic matter content and electrical conductivity were analyzed. Hydrological properties including bulk density and water holding capacity at different water potential, -6 kPa, -10 kPa, -33 kPa, and -1500 kPa were calculated by SPAW model of Saxton and Rawls (2006), and air entry value was calculated by Campbell model (1985). Based on physical and hydrological limitation, feasibility and design criteria of soil depth for vegetation and landfill were recommended. Since the soil salinity of the soil in area A area was $19.18dS\;m^{-1}$ in top soil and $22.27dS\;m^{-1}$ in deep soil, respectively, landscape vegetation without amendment would not be possible on this area. Available soil depth required for vegetation was 2.51 m that would secure root zone water holding capacity, capillary fringe, and porosity. Available soil depth required for landscape vegetation of the B area soil was 1.51 m including capillary fringe 0.14 m and available depth for 10% porosity 1.35 m. The soils in this area were feasible for landscape vegetation. The soil in area C was feasible for bottom fill purpose only due to low water holding capacity.

  • Soil structure plays an important role in ecological system, since it controls transport and storage of air, gas, nutrients and solutions. The study of soil structure requires an understanding of the interrelations and interactions between the diverse soil components at various levels of organization. Investigations of the spatial distribution of pore/particle arrangements and the geometry of soil pore space can provide important information regarding ecological or crop system. Because of conveniences in image analyses and accuracy, these investigations have been thrived for a long time. Image analyses from soil sections through impregnated blocks of undisturbed soil (2 dimensional image analyses) or from 3 dimensional scanned soils by computer tomography allow quantitative assessment of the pore space. Image analysis techniques can be used to classify pore types and quantify pore structure without inaccurate or hard labor in laboratory. In this paper, the last 50 years of the soil image analyses have been presented and measurements on various soil scales were introduced, as well. In addition to history of image analyses, a couple of examples for soil image analyses were displayed. The discussion was made on the applications of image analyses and techniques to quantify pore/soil structure.

  • The potential damage region of a WC-Co cemented carbide die is investigated for cold forging process of a wheel-nut by numerical simulation with its chemical composition considered. Numerical simulation is utilized to calculate internal stress, especially for the WC-Co die, during the forging process. Finite element model is established, in which the elasto-plastic properties are applied to the work-piece of bulk steel, and elastic properties are considered for the lower die insert of the WC-Co alloy. This stress analysis enables to distinguish the potential damage regions of the WC-Co die. The regions from calculation are comparatively analyzed along with the crack area observed in the die after repetitive manufacturing. Effect of chemical composition of the WC-Co is also evaluated on characteristics of potential damage region of the die with variance of mechanical properties considered. Derived from Mohr-Coulomb fracture model, furthermore, a new stress index is presented and used for die stress analysis. This index inherently considers hydrostatic pressure and is then capable of deducing wide range of its distribution for representing stress state by modification of its parameter implying pressure sensitivity.

Research design, data and methodology: As a result of searching for 'franchise' in ScienceON, abstracts were collected from papers published in domestic academic journals from 1994 to June 2021. Keywords were extracted from the abstracts of 1,110 valid papers, and after preprocessing, keyword analysis, TF-IDF analysis, and topic modeling using LDA algorithm, along with trend analysis of the top 20 words in TF-IDF by year group was carried out using the R-package. Results: As a result of keyword analysis, it was found that businesses and brands were the subjects of research related to franchises, and interest in service and satisfaction was considerable, and food and coffee were prominently studied as industries. As a result of TF-IDF calculation, it was found that brand, satisfaction, franchisor, and coffee were ranked at the top. As a result of LDA-based topic modeling, a total of 12 topics including "growth strategy" were derived and visualized with LDAvis. On the other hand, the areas of Topic 1 (growth strategy) and Topic 9 (organizational culture), Topic 4 (consumption experience) and Topic 6 (contribution and loyalty), Topic 7 (brand image) and Topic 10 (commercial area) overlap significantly. Finally, the trend analysis results for the top 20 keywords with high TF-IDF showed that 10 keywords such as quality, brand, food, and trust would be more utilized overall. Conclusions: Through the results of this study, the direction of interest in the franchise industry was confirmed, and it was found that it was necessary to find a clue for continuous growth through research in more diverse fields. And it was also considered an important finding to suggest a technique that can supplement the problems of topic trend analysis. Therefore, the results of this study show that researchers will gain significant insights from the perspectives related to the selection of research topics, and practitioners from the perspectives related to future franchise changes.

  • The characteristics of forced vibration by an external excitation force having a frequency were analyzed according to the amplitude and frequency of the excitation force. To obtain displacement, velocity, and acceleration, numerical analysis was performed to obtain the frequency response, and in particular, each FRF(Frequency Response Function) was analyzed to reveal the location of the system natural frequency and excitation frequency in the frequency domain. In the vibration model caused by external excitation, the natural frequency and distribution of the surrounding excitation mode in displacement, velocity and acceleration FRF. The FRF was also shown in the power spectrum and FRF of real and imaginary parts. The external excitation force was approximated with the excitation force of a sine wave by giving the amplitude and frequency, the mode generated by this excitation force could be distinguished. After numerical analysis by changing the equivalent mass, damping and stiffness, the forced vibration response characteristics by external excitation force were systematically analyzed.

  • In this study, basic data that can be referenced for ventilation modeling was presented by analyzing the characteristics of wind pressure coefficients(Cp) according to wind direction angles under conditions of different building layouts and aspect ratios through CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) analysis for flat-type apartment complexes. In the case of a wind direction angle of 0°, Cp distribution in the form of an inverted S-shape was shown on the front of the building located on the windward side. And Cp corresponding to the lowest floor, the uppermost floor, and the two inflection points showed relatively close values regardless of the height of the building. The inflection point of the low-rise part was formed at a height of about 11m, and the height of the high-rise part could be calculated through a trend formula proportional to the height of the building. It was confirmed that the averaged Cp value can be applied in most conditions except for the wind direction angle of 45 degrees.

  • Purpose: This study aims to examine the stress distribution effect of tightening torques of different abutment screws in a custom-abutment implant system on the abutment-fixture connection interface stability using finite element analysis. Methods: The custom-abutment implant system structures used in this study were designed using CATIA program. It was presumed that the abutment screws with a tightening torque of 10, 20, and 30 N·cm fixed the abutment and fixture. Furthermore, two external loadings, vertical loading and oblique loading, were applied. Results: When the screw tightening torque was 10 N·cm, the maximum stress value of the abutment screw was 287.2 MPa that is equivalent to 33% of Ti-6Al-4V yield strength. When the tightening torque was 20 N·cm, the maximum stress value of the abutment screw was 573.9 MPa that is equivalent to 65% of Ti-6Al-4V yield strength. When the tightening torque was 30 N·cm, the maximum stress value of the abutment screw was 859.6 MPa that is similar to the Ti-6Al-4V yield strength. Conclusion: As the screw preload rose when applying each tightening torque to the custom-abutment implant system, the equivalent stress increased. It was found that the tightening torque of the abutment influenced the abutment-fixture connection interface stability. The analysis results indicate that a custom-abutment implant system should closely consider the optimal tightening torque according to clinical functional loads.
