Designing of real-time distributed simulator and controller architecture (실시간 분산처리 시뮬레이터 및 제어기 구조 설계)

  • High performance digital computer technology enables the digital computer-based controllers to replace traditional analog controllers used for factory automations. This replacement, however, brings up the side effects caused by discrete quantization and non-real-time execution of control softwares. This paper describes the structure of real-time simulator and controller that can be used for design and verification of real-time digital controllers. The virtual machine concept adopted by real-time simulator make the proposed simulator be independent from the specific hardware platforms. The proposed system can also be used in the loosely coupled distributed environments connected through local area network using real-time message passing algorithm and virtual data table based on the shared memory mechanism.

A Flexible Conveying System using Hybrid Control under Distributed Network

  • In this research, we propose a flexible conveying system (FCS) which consists of multiple arrays of cells. Each cell is a wheel driven by a two degree-of-freedom mechanism. The direction and velocity of cell are controlled based on the concept of hybrid control under a distributed network. Each cell has its own controller under a subsumption architecture for low-level control. A cell communicates with its four neighboring cells to manipulate n targeted object towards its desired position. The high-level control assigns a desired position and direction of the object to each cell. The path of each object is generated by many supporting cells. Moreover, the FCS can handle multiple objects simultaneously. To study the flexible conveying system, a GUI-based simulator of flexible conveying system is constructed. The simulated results show that the system can handle multiple objects independently and simultaneously under the proposed hybrid control architecture.

  • 지금까지의 선형 최적화에 대한 연구는 고전적인 최적화 기법인 비선형계획법과 유동해석법을 중심으로 생물의 진화 알고리즘을 바탕으로 한 유전자 알고리즘과 인공지능에 기초를 둔 신경망이론 등이 이용되어 왔다. 또한 최근 컴퓨터의 성능이 급속도로 향상됨에 따라 전산유체역학에 기초한 시뮬레이션 평가기법도 사용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 유전자 알고리즘을 이용한 선형 최적화 방법을 제시하였다. 그리고 광역 최적해의 효과적인 검색과 빠른 접근을 위한 방법으로 네트워크 시스템을 기반으로 한 병렬분산 유전자 알고리즘 시스템(PDGAS)을 개발하였으며 그 성능을 기존의 진화 알고리즘과 비교${\cdot}$분석함으로써 선형 최적화의 가능성을 확인하였다.

  • An Integrated Data Environment (IDE) is the end state of the CALS vision. It refers to an environment where all the data generated from the entire lifecycle activities of a product can be shared by anyone that participates in the management. engineering, manufacturing, or support of the product, although the data are geographically distributed and are maintained in heterogeneous platforms. The primary purpose of this paper is to introduce the fundamental concept, architecture, and core implementation technology of an IDE. The secondary purpose is to suggest some strategic directions to the planning staffs in both government and industry. and to suggest some research issues to the researchers in academia. The reference architecture of an IDE being developed by the US DoD and that of NIIIP (National Industrial Information Infrastructure Protocol) being developed by a consortium are discussed. Two principal issues of implementing an integrated database, i.e., distributed object computing including CORBA and multi-database system (MDBS) are reviewed. As a conclusion. the author suggests that daring investment in prototyping an IDE by a nationwide consortium is essential to keep up with the advanced countries in CALS implementation.

  • HLA is a general-purpose software architecture for distributed simulation designed to support a wide range of simulation approaches and application. The US DoD's HLA for modeling and simulation can certainly be regarded as the state of the art in distributed simulation. It is a mandatory standard for military simulation. The purpose of this paper is to describe applications of HLA/RTI in multiple domains across the manufacturing systems society. In many and large scale industrial systems, enormous data is generated, and is to be managed in an effective way. It needs a high performance common network library. Furthermore, it must satisfy the real function of system facilities as much as possible. The RTI is an implementation of the interface specification, provided as a set of services. Some applications focusing on the area of a small manufacturing system were demonstrated. The integration could be achieved using the HLA, together with interface modules for each of the subsystems. We have found that HLA/RTI are cable of meeting the functional requirements for a given system environment.

  • In today's engineering world, any product development activity requires the expertise and the interaction of many different engineering. Therefore the various activities in a product development architecture are highly distributed and interdependent. The interdependence may be due to sharing of databases and transfer of information between various activities. This will require an integrated product model. That can support distributed design such that participants from different backgrounds collaborate towards one common goal. This paper presents the architecture of the product modeling system for the integration of CAD and CAE. It then reports on the study of STEP 10303 and UG open API focused on the integration of different technical environments.

A Study on the Multidisciplinary Design Optimization Using Collaborative Optimization Approach (협동 최적화 접근 방법에 의한 타분야 최적 설계에 관한 연구)

  • Multidisciplinary design optimization(MDO) can yield optimal design considering all the disciplinary requirements concurrently. A method to implement the collaborative optimization(CO) approach, one of the MDO methodologies, is developed using a pre-compiler “EzpreCompiler”, a design optimization library “EzOptimizer”, and a common object request broker architecture(CORBA) in distributed computing environment. The CO approach is applied to a mathematical example to show its applicability and equivalence to standard optimization(SO) formulation. In a realistic engineering problem such as optimal design of a two-member hub frame, optimal design of a speed reducer and initial design of a bulk carrier, the CO yields better results than the SO. Furthermore, the CO allows the distributed processing using the CORBA, which leads to reduction of overall computation time.

  • Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) have a number of interesting applications to preserve road safety, notify users about changed road/traffic condition, handling post accident hazards and moreover service oriented applications to make the travel convenient to the drivers. Use of common information format for diverse applications enables the application developers to easily design flexible information dissemination system for new applications or add new features to existing application. This paper introduces a common information format for various applications in VANETs. The main goal of the paper is to design generalized distributed architectures for vehicular networks, which considers diverse application development scenarios and uses common information format. The proposed architectures enable the application developers to flexibly disseminate information to affected or interested user. In this paper, we have given a detail description of each component of the architectures and how they communicate with each other. In future, we will implement the proposed architecture using suitable simulator.

  • Recently, due to the advance of computer, network and Internet technology, control/monitoring systems are required to process the massive data, At the same time, the software development environment uses more and more component-based methodology. This paper proposes the services for the control /monitoring domain. Especially we define domain-specific interfaces and categories to acquire compatibility between products, and implement architecture for lightweight event service. As it is very important to support compatibility between heterogeneous systems, the proposed system provides modules for the web service and communication protocols based on the XML. And as proposed architecture consists of cluster of servers and Windows 2000's NLB service, it can guarantee more stable operation,

  • In this paper, a masterarm for teleoperation of humanoid robot is presented. This masterarm is based human kinematics, which not only mimics human posture/motion completely, but also has wider work range. In addition, by using the distributed controller architecture and electric brake for force reflection, small size and lightweight of the device can be achieved. Some size and lightweight of the device can be achieved. Some important experiments integrated with the humanoid robot, CENTAUR developed by KIST(Korea Institute of Science and Technology), are conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed masterarm.
