According to recent frequent local flash flood due to climate change, the very short-term rainfall forecast using remotely sensed rainfall like radar is necessary to establish. This research is to evaluate the feasibility of GIS-based distributed model coupled with radar rainfall, which can express temporal and spatial distribution, for multipurpose dam operation during flood season. $Vflo^{TM}$ model was used as physically based distributed hydrologic model. The study area was Yongdam dam basin ($930\;km^2$) and the 3 storm events of local convective rainfall in August 2005, and the typhoon.Ewiniar.and.Bilis.collected from Jindo radar was adopted for runoff simulation. Distributed rainfall consistent with hydrologic model grid resolution was generated by using K-RainVieux, pre-processor program for radar rainfall. The local bias correction for original radar rainfall shows reasonable results of which the percent error from the gauge observation is less than 2% and the bias value is $0.886{\sim}0.908$. The parameters for the $Vflo^{TM}$ were estimated from basic GIS data such as DEM, land cover and soil map. As a result of the 3 events of multiple peak hydrographs, the bias of total accumulated runoff and peak flow is less than 20%, which can provide a reasonable base for building operational real-time short-term rainfall-runoff forecast system.
It is usually not easy to simulate the hydrologic cycle or water quality for ungaged watersheds, especially for long-term simulation. In this paper we evaluated the applicability of GSSHA, a process-based distributed hydrologic model, for the long-term discharge and water quality simulation for the ungaged Peace dam watershed. From the comparative analysis of the simulated discharge and water quality series with measured ones, we concluded that with its overall fair performance on simulating hydrograph patterns of the peak discharges and base flows for major storms the GSSHA model showed some possibility to be used as a watershed model even with its overestimation of peak discharges for small storms and different trends of simulated water quality from measured ones for some periods.
A grid-based KIneMatic wave soil-water EROsion and deposition Model(KIMEROM) that predicts temporal variation and spatial distribution of sediment transport in a watershed was developed. This model uses ASCII-formatted map data supported from the regular gridded map of GRASS (U.S. Army CERL, 1993)-GIS(Geographic Information Systems), and generates the distributed results by ASCII-formatted map data. For hydrologic process, the kinematic wave equation and Darcy equation were used to simulated surface and subsurface flow, respectively (Kim, 1998; Kim et al., 1998). For soil erosion process, the physically-based soil erosion concept by Rose and Hairsine (1988) was used to simulate soil-water erosion and deposition. The model adopts single overland flowpath algorithm and simulates surface and subsurface water depth, and sediment concentration at each grid element for a given time increment. The model was tested to a 162.3 $\textrm{km}^2$ watershed located in the tideland reclaimed ares of South Korea. After the hydrologic calibration for two storm events in 1999, the results of sediment transport were presented for the same storm events. The results of temporal variation and spatial distribution of overland flow and sediment areas are shown using GRASS.

A grid-based KIneMatic wave soil-water EROsion and deposition Model (KIMEROM) that predicts temporal variation and spatial distribution of sediment transport in a watershed was developed. This model uses ASCII-formatted map data supported from the regular gridded map of GRASS (U.S. Army CERL, 1993)-GIS (Geographic Information Systems), and generates the distributed results by ASCIIl-formatted map data. For hydrologic process, the kinematic wave equation and Darcy equation were used to simulate surface and subsurface flow, respectively (Kim, 1798; Kim et al., 1993). For soil erosion process, the physically-based soil erosion concept by Rose and Hairsine (1988) was used to simulate soil-water erosion and deposition. The model adopts sing1e overland flowpath algorithm and simulates surface and subsurface water depth, and sediment concentration at each grid element (or a given time increment. The model was tested to a 162.3 km$^2$ watershed located in the tideland reclaimed area of South Korea. After the hydrologic calibration for two storm events in 1999, the results of sediment transport were presented for the same storm events. The results of temporal variation and spatial distribution of overland flow and sediment areas are shown using GRASS.
Hydrologic component analysis was conducted to investigate water budget characteristics the Oedocheon watershed, Jeju Island. For this purpose, integrated SWAT-MODFLOW model was applied to this watershed for continuous surface water-groundwater modeling. Pasture and forest-deciduous are the major land use types and these affect general hydrologic component ratio. The spatio-temporal groundwater recharge can be obtained from SWAT and then distributed groundwater recharge can be reproduced by MODFLOW. The groundwater level variation was simulated with distributed groundwater pumping data. The water budget in this watershed was compared with the previous estimated result by Jeju-Do(2013). As this result considered discharge to the coastal side, the discrepancy was found. However, it was found that the overall tendency of both analyses were similar.

The main purpose of this study is to suggest and evaluate an operational method for assessing the potential impact of climate change on hydrologic components and water resources of regional scale river basins. The method, which uses large scale climate change information provided by a state of the art general circulation model(GCM) comprises a statistical downscaling approach and a spatially distributed hydrological model applied to a river basin located in Korea. First, we construct global climate change scenarios using the YONU GCM control run and transient experiments, then transform the YONU GCM grid-box predictions with coarse resolution of climate change into the site-specific values by statistical downscaling techniques. The values are used to modify the parameters of the stochastic weather generator model for the simulation of the site-specific daily weather time series. The weather series fed into a semi-distributed hydrological model called SLURP to simulate the streamflows associated with other water resources for the condition of $2CO_2$. This approach is applied to the Yongdam dam basin in southern part of Korea. The results show that under the condition of $2CO_2$, about $7.6\% of annual mean streamflow is reduced when it is compared with the observed one. And while Seasonal streamflows in the winter and autumn are increased, a streamflow in the summer is decreased. However, the seasonality of the simulated series is similar to the observed pattern and the analysis of the duration cure shows the mean of averaged low flow is increased while the averaged wet and normal flow are decreased for the climate change.
In this study, a distributed rainfall-runoff model is developed using a multi-directional flow allocation algorithm and the real-time runoff updating algorithm. The developed model consists of relatively simple governing equations of hydrologic processes in order to apply developed algorithms and to enhance the efficiency of computational time which is drawback of distributed model application. The variability of topographic characteristics and flow direction according to various spatial resolution were analyzed using DEM(Digital Elevation Model) data. As a preliminary process using fine resolution DEM data, a multi-directional flow allocation algorithm was developed to maintain detail flow information in distributed rainfall-runoff simulation which has strong advantage in computation efficiency and accuracy. Also, a real-time updating algorithm was developed to update current watershed condition. The developed model is able to hold the information of actual behavior of runoff process in low resolution simulation. Therefore it is expected the improvement of forecasting accuracy and computational efficiency.

In this study, a fully distributed physical-based rainfall-runoff model called Vflo$^{TM}$ is applied to Junglang-cheon basin for simulating runoff. Geo-spatial data are used to parameterize the model to account for the characteristics of soils, landuse/cover, and topograph. 300m resolution DEM is used to compute slope and drainage network connectivity. Spatially distributed rainfall data is interpolated by ordinary kriging method. In this study, hydrograph from HEC-HMS and Vflo$^{TM}$ without/with calibration of parameters was compared to evaluate the accuracy of rainfall-runoff model From the results, a fully distributed physical-based rainfall-runoff model reproduce the peak time and shape of hydrograph much better than HEC-HMS.

To investigate the hydrologic impacts of climate changes on dam inflow for Soyanggangdam watershed $(2694.4km^2)$ of northeastern South Korea, SLURP (Semi-distributed Land Use-based Runoff Process) model and the climate change results of CCCma CGCM2 based on SRES A2 and B2 were adopted. By the CA-Markov technique, future land use changes were estimated using the three land cover maps (1985, 1990, 2000) classified by Landsat TM satellite images. NDVI values for 2050 and 2100 land uses were estimated from the relationship of NDVI-Temperature linear regression derived from the observed data (1998-2002). Before the assessment, the SLURP model was calibrated and verified using 4 years (1998-2001) dam inflow data with the Nash-Sutcliffe efficiencies of 0.61 to 0.77. In case of A2 scenario, the dam inflows of 2050 and 2100 decreased 49.7 % and 25.0 % comparing with the dam inflow of 2000, and in case of B2 scenario, the dam inflows of 2050 and 2100 decreased 45.3 % and 53.0 %, respectively. The results showed that the impact of land use change covered 2.3 % to 4.9 % for the dam inflow change.

The analysis of the spatial extent of flood inundation is important for flood mitigation. Geographic Information System (GIS) has advantage of analyzing spatial distributed data. Hydrologic Engineering Center's River Analsysis System(HEC-RAS) with HEC-GeoRAS was used to analyze flood inundation. HEC-GeoRAS, which is an ArcView GIS extension designed to process geospatial data for HEC-RAS, is a useful tool for storing, managing, analyzing, and displaying spatially distributed data. Rational formula and 24-hr duration probability precipitation data of Suwon meteorological station were used to estimate the flood runoff. And water profiles were calculated using the HEC-RAS model with HEC-GeoRAS. The flooded region is 8.24ha when 50-yr probability precipitation was applied and 8.8ha when 100-yr was applied to Bahlan study watershed which is located in Whasung county, Kyunggi province, having an area of $29.79km^{2}$.
