  • As the management and preservation of the environment become an important social issue, information required to support environmental task is required. So, there is an increasing demand for environmental information and appropriate systems to manage it. The vast volume of environmental data is distributed in different knowledge domains and systems. Environmental data objects have the complex structure containing environmental quality data and attribute data. Environmental information systems must be able to address these properties. This research has aimed at constructing well-defined schema design of environmental data, and making system architecture that environmental data kept by authorities should be made available to the public user. There are 3 major components in environmental information systems architecture ; User interface, Catalog libraries, Communication Provider. Web browsers provide consistent and intuitive user interfaces on Internet. The communication provider is a collection of diverse CGI functions. The main roles of the CGIs are to build interfaces between the Web, databases. Catalog libraries is libraries of various matadata including administration matadata. Administration matadata support the environmental administration and the managerial aspects of environmental data rather than explain a database itself or its properties.

  • The purpose of data mining is to extract multi-dimensional information from a large database. The only information that we can extract from a large database is the column name, data type or simple comments included in the columns of database tables. With such unstructured and scarce information, it is very difficult and time taking to collect and to cleanse data by analyzing the purpose, characteristic and schema of the column during the data preparation step. In order to solve this problem, we propose solutions for reducing the time spent data preparation step in a relational database environment in this paper. That is, we propose useful elements to be considered during the data preparation step and then these elements are organized to constitute MDR(Metadata Registry) which is becoming the international standard of ISO/IEC : ll179. Finally, we propose a XML-based distributed MDR retrieval system that is convertible among heterogeneous systems and heterogeneous DBMSS.

  • In these day, some of IT venders already were going to cloud computing market, as well they are going to expand their territory for the cloud computing market through that based on their hardware and software technology, making collaboration between hardware and software vender. Distributed file system is very mainly technology for the cloud computing that must be protect performance and safety for high levels service requests as well data store. This paper introduced distributed file system for cloud computing and how to use this theory such as memory database, Hadoop file system, high availability database system. now In the market, this paper define a very large distributed processing architect as a reference by kind of distributed file systems through using technology in cloud computing market.

  • We propose dynamic file allocation method in distributed database management system with changing access patterns. There are a lot of studies on file allocation problem in D-DBMS, and those studies deal with off-line analysis and optimization. Those works are well for systems with static database access patterns, but are inadequate for systems that have changing access patterns. In these systems, dynamic file allocation along with access pattern is more proper. In advance, Brunstrom et al. studied on this area, but they dealt a extremely simplified model. So, we make more practical models to simulate real system. In these models, many factors that were disregard in the advance study are considered. These models are composed with the non-replication system and the replication system. In addition to, we deal with CPU workload balancing in such system in order to improve performance of systems. Our methodology is very simple and realistic, therefore we think that it will give a lot of improvement in D-DBMS with changing access pattern.

  • This paper suggests a contingent perspective for analyzing information systems issues of the Korean firms. The contingent perspective includes such corporate characteristics as industry, organizational size, strategy, and value-added application function. This research surveyed 119 corporations in manufacturing, banking, distribution, and construction industries. Among those samples 104 data of corporate IS managers turned out to be statistically valid. As a result, those issues are ranked as the most urgent and important IS issues: strategic IS planning, system integration, application of database, process standardization, and network planning and implementation. Furthermore, factor analysis says that thirty issues to be surveyed are to be grouped into seven factors such as IS planning, user/education, database, applications of IT, system management, distributed computing technology, and network applications. It also found through Pearson correlation and ANOVA that organizational characteristics highly influences the IS issues the corporations face.

  • A DAS(Distribution Automation System) enhances the efficiency and productivity of a utility. It also provides intangible benefits such as improved public image and market adventages. This paper discusses an approach to the integration of NDIS(New Distribution Information System) and DAS that will allow benefits from both technologies to support a common database and distributed computing architecture, thereby improving the ability of many functions to justify implementation of integrated systems based on transferring' data comparisons.

  • The information systems in the most enterprise environments are distributed locally and are comprised with various heterogeneous data sources, so that it is difficult to obtain necessary and integrated information for supporting user decision. For solving 'this problems efficiently, it provides uniform interface to users and constructed database systems between heterogeneous systems make a consistence each independence and need to provide transparency like one interface. This paper presents XMDR that consists of category, standard ontology, location ontology and knowledge base. Standard ontology solves heterogeneous problem about naming, attributes, relations in data expression. Location ontology is a mediator that connects each legacy systems. Knowledge base defines the relation for sharing glossary. Adaptive retrieve proposes integrated retrieve system through reflecting site weight by location ontology, information sharing of various forms of knowledge base and integration and propose conceptual domain model about how to share unstructured knowledge.

  • Geographically dispersed computing system is made of computers interconnected by a telecommunications network. To make the system operated efficiently, system designer must determine the allocation of data files to each node. In designing such distributed computing system, the most important issue is the determination of the numbers and the locations where database files are allocated. This is commonly referred to as the file allocation problem (FAP)[3]. The proposed model is a 0/l integer programming problem minimizing the sum of file storage costs and communication(query and update) costs. File allocation problem belongs to the class of NP-Complete problems. Because of the complexity, it is hard to solve. So, this paper presents an efficient heuristic algorithm to solve the file allocation problem using Tabu Search Technique. By comparing the optimal solutions with the heuristic solutions, it is believed that the proposed heuristic algorithm gives good solutions. Through the experimentation of various starting points and tabu restrictions, this paper presents fast and efficient method to solve the file allocation problem in the distributed computing system.

  • This paper presents the configuration methodology of Distributed Control System(DCS)s for process plant and their performance evaluation. Performance evaluation is specified both in terms of operational and installation aspects of system. In order to evaluate performance criteria of operational aspect, a simulation method is proposed. Modeling of system components including process computer, database, process controllers and LANs, etc, is implemented for simulation. Based on these characteristics, different system configurations are evaluated and compared through results about evaluation criteria in order to select the best DCS for particular process. The results, in abbreviated form, of the performance evaluation of DCS controlling a CAL(Continuous Annealing Line) plant of iron process are presented.

  • In this paper, we present database model of directory systems that perform a task for distributed information repositories in communication network environments. A new model is developed through four phase: (1) A diretory database information is classified that would be stored in directory database as user, administrative, and supplementary information. (2) The modeling criteria are captured that would be used to model information classified. (3) Object-Oriented concepts are used in modeling classified information according to modeling criteria captured. (4) Methods applied to developed model are grouped, and active-based mechanisms such as trigger and constraints are developed. These selected methods and attributes are encapsulated into objects. Consequently they compose an Active Object-Oriented Directory Database Model.
