  • In fuzzy expert systems or database systems that have huge volumes of fuzzy data or large fuzzy rules, the inference time is much increased. Therefore, a high performance parallel fuzzy computing environment is needed. In this paper, we propose a parallel fuzzy inference mechanism in parallel computing environment. In this, fuzzy rules are distributed and executed simultaneously. The ONE_TO_ALL algorithm is used to broadcast the fuzzy input vector to the all nodes. The results of the MIN/MAX operations are transferred to the output processor by the ALL_TO_ONE algorithm. By parallel processing of fuzzy rules or data, the parallel fuzzy inference algorithm extracts effective parallel ism and achieves a good speed factor.

  • A Grid Database is a database management system to process effectively and use the distributed data in a grid computing environment. Spatial data is more important than other general data according to the local characteristics and requires a large storage. The grid database can be used as the optimal system for the management of the spatial data. However, contrary to the conventional distributed database systems, the Grid Database which guarantees the local autonomy has a possibility not to provide an effective system, or it is impossible to use a centralized management environment. In order to allow flexible responses to a dynamically changing environment, it is required to use effectively reorganized method. In this paper, hierarchical reorganization method is presented for dynamic reorganization in a grid database. When the reorganization is conducted, an organizer is created to collect the information of databases. In addition, the organizer which is constructed by the hierarchical structure supports information communication and reorganization, and then it allows the support of regional reorganization operation and effective balance control. The performance assessment of the proposed method shows that the processing capacity is increased after the reorganization.

  • With the increasing interest of a demand side management using a Smart Grid infrastructure, the demand resources and energy usage data management becomes an important factor in energy industry. In addition, with the help of Advanced Measuring Infrastructure(AMI), energy usage data becomes a Big Data System. Therefore, it becomes difficult to store and manage the demand resources big data using a traditional relational database management system. Furthermore, not many researches have been done to analyze the big energy data collected using AMI. In this paper, we are proposing a Hadoop based Big Data system to manage the demand resources energy data and we will also show how the demand side management systems can be used to improve energy efficiency.

  • The importance of microbial activity in the alteration and deterioration of stone and concrete walls has been frequently neglected. Organisms present on stone monuments can include photolithoautotrophs, such as algae, cyanobacteria, mosses, and higher plants. Because of their ability to survive repeated drying and rehydration cycles and high UV levels, the cyanobacteria are particularly important on exposed surfaces. The cyanobactria distributed on the surface of the stone cultural heritages in Gwanschoksa, Nonsan city were investigated. Chlorococcus sp. Aanabaena sp. Gloeocapsa sp Lyngbya sp. Stigomena sp. Synechocystis sp were identified. Haplaosiphon fontinalis and Stigonema turfaceum, which were not recoded is Korea, were also identified. Cells often have thick pigmented sheath in dry, sun-exposed environment and shorter filament, which can be different than that in aquatic systems. Special attention should be paid to production of an adequate DNA database in order to accelerate the rate at which information on the species present in biofilms become available.

  • The accurate finite element (FE) simulation of reinforced concrete (RC) slabs, having different boundary conditions and subjected to uniformly distributed loading, has led to the use of the developed FE models for generating results of ultimate loads from predictions of 'computer-model' RC slabs having different material and geometric properties. Equations derived from these results constitute the primary database of an intelligent computer-aided-design (CAD) system developed for accurate and fast information retrieval on arbitrary slabs. The system is capable of generating a secondary database through systems of interpolation and can be used for design assistance purposes.

  • Traditional syntax-oriented serializability notions are considered to be not enough to handle in particular various types of transaction in terms of duration of execution. To deal with this situation, altruistic locking has attempted to reduce delay effect associated with lock release moment by use of the idea of donation. An improved form of altruism has also been deployed in extended altruistic locking in a way that scope of data to be early released is enlarged to include even data initially not intended to be donated. In this paper, we first of all investigated limitations inherent in both altruistic schemes from the perspective of alleviating starvation occasions for transactions in particular of short-lived nature. The idea of two-way donation locking(2DL) has then been experimented to see the effect of more than single donation in distributed database systems. Simulation experiments shows that 2DL outperforms the conventional two-phase locking in terms of the degree of oncurrency and average transaction waiting time.

  • In this paper, we propose a locating strategy using a cache based on the distributed call processing stucture. In our stategy, each originating call server, withc is responsible for call setup, has a cache to memorize the service ratio of call server which serves the called terminal. We present performance comparison of the proposed strategy with the existing strategy via simulation. We can reduce the cost for call setup because the originating call server can simpley establish a call without tracing the location of the called terminal. The proposed strategy also reduceds network loads caused by signaling at call setup time and lessens the frequency of queries for the database systems which can be a bottleneck when it serves many subscriber.

  • SQL/MDR is a metadata registry query language used to consistently exchange and share the data between distributed metadata registries. It is an extension of the international SQL and is familiar to most database builders and administrators. It provides many advantages such as simplicity of query language, ease of use, an independent description for distributed querying, low cost for adding new systems, simplicity of exchanging mechanism, and so on. The goal of this paper is to evaluate and show its merits quantitatively. To achieve this goal, we define simulation models to compare with an existing approach and then describe the evaluation results. In the quantitative evaluation results, the good points of SQL/MDR can be identified and known.
