The article discusses the evolution of the development of distance learning in world practice; investigated the essence and modern content of the concepts of "distance learning" and "distance education"; studied the principles of distance learning in the educational process; analyze the use of distance learning in higher educational institutions of Ukraine; substantiated the effectiveness of introducing distance learning into the higher education system; formed new management approaches in the distance learning system; proposals for the organization and improvement of distance learning at the university were developed on the basis of the analysis.

We propose a version of Cook's distance (called local distance) in the multivariate linear model. The proposed version is a matrix, while the existing version of Cook's distance (called global distance) is a scalar. The existing Cook's distance is the trace of the proposed Cook's distance. In addition, we argue that the proposed Cook's distance has a more natural extension of the Cook's distance in the univariate linear model than the existing Cook's distance. An illustrative example based on a real data set is given.

The measuring tests on the maximum opening distance and the maximum capacity opening distance were conducted on the one hundred normal dental college students and staffs o Seoul National University in order to study the relationships between the maximum opening distance and maximum capacity opening distance. The results were as follows: 1. The maximum opening distance and maximum capacity opening distance were not coincided. 2. The distance of the maximum opening was higher than that of the maximum capacity opening. 3. Physiologic reflex was caused by the water injected into the mouth. 4. The correlation between the maximum opening distance, and maximum capacity opening distance was hardly recognized. 5. Each correlation of the weight height and cheek thickness to maximum opening distance and maximum capacity opening distance was not recognized.

The article clarifies and divorces the concepts of distance learning systems "distance learning", "distance education", "distance technologies", "open education". The central concept of the DO system is "distance learning"; - an assessment of the use of distance technologies in the system of higher professional education in Ukraine was carried out, which showed that the dominant teaching technology at the moment is the technology of teaching using cases (case technology on paper and electronic media). It is determined that distance technologies based on the active use of technical teaching aids (network technologies, telecommunication technologies) find little use in the system of higher professional education in Ukraine.

Purpose - This study examines the role of e-commerce resulting from technological innovation as a new approach toward internationalization. We study the relationship between e-commerce export and country distance, measured in CAGE distance, which has hindered traditional internationalization. As a control variable, entrepreneurship was introduced to check the moderating effect on the relationship between country distance and e-commerce export. Design/methodology - Based on empirical analysis, e-commerce exports from the Republic of Korea to 96 countries were used as dependent variables. First, hierarchical regression analysis was conducted to test the hypothesis about each country's distance, measured by CAGE distance, and each dimension of CAGE, on e-commerce exports. Next, the hypothesis was tested through the interaction term to examine the moderating effect of entrepreneurship. Findings - The analysis showed that the hypothesis, which postulated e-commerce exports as affected negatively by the country's distance, was supported but not that all CAGE dimensions affected it. Specifically, geographical distance and economic distance have negative effects, but cultural distance and administrative distance did not affect e-commerce exports. Thus, in contrast to the expectation that distance restrictions in e-commerce would not exist, this study confirmed that distance still matters to internationalization and that entrepreneurship can mitigate the adverse effects. Originality/value - Through these results, when export firms try to enter new markets and start internationalization through e-commerce, the entrepreneurship of the importing country should be considered.

Purpose - This study empirically investigated whether national distances (Cultural, Administrative, Geographic and Economic distance) have different effects on industries in different ways. Design/methodology - The empirical model utilized industry level export trade data to examine the differentiated effects of each national distance. By using direct measurement and covering 75 countries, this paper analyzes the effect of distances in different industries. More specifically, this study classified the industries into a more-sensitive/less-sensitive scale. Findings - The empirical results showed the complicated impacts of national distances on trade. Trade in industries that are more sensitive to cultural and administrative distances was not decreased as greatly as trade in industries that are less sensitive to cultural and administrative distances. Also, industries that are more sensitive to geographic distance showed a stronger negative impact on trade than less sensitive industries. Lastly, economic distance decreased trade for industries that are more sensitive to economic distance, while economic distance did not significantly increase trade for industries that are less sensitive to economic distance. Originality/value - As the first study to empirically find out whether national distance has different effects on industries, this study updated the measurements of national distance.

The article considers the state and trends of distance learning in the world and Ukraine, identifies the main species differences between distance education and other forms of education, analyzes the state of the global market for educational services provided via the Internet. Important features and characteristics of distance learning, examples of its organization in higher education, as well as statistics on the development of distance learning in our country. The main problematic points on the way to the implementation of the distance education system in Ukraine and the factors that hinder the development of this promising form of education are outlined.

Camera rigs for shooting 3D video are classified as manual, motorized, or fully automatic. Even in an automatic camera rig, the process of Stereoscopic 3D (S3D) video capture is very complex and time-consuming. One of the key time-consuming operations is capturing the distance parameters, which are near distance, far distance, and convergence distance. Traditionally these distances are measured by tape measure or triangular indirect measurement methods. These two methods consume a long time for every scene in shot. In our study, a compact laser distance sensing system with long range distance sensitivity is developed. The system is small enough to be installed on top of a camera and the measuring accuracy is within 2% even at a range of 50 m. The shooting time of an automatic camera rig equipped with the laser distance sensing system can be reduced significantly to less than a minute.

The taxicab distance and Chinese-checker distance in the plane are practical distance notions with a wide range of applications compared to the Euclidean distance. The ${\alpha}$-distance was introduced as a generalization of these two distance functions. In this paper, we study alpha circle, trigonometry, and the area of a triangle in the plane with ${\alpha}$-distance.
