In recently site investigations, the need for the determination of dynamic soil properties such as dynamic modules of rigidity, elasticity, dynamic poison's ratio and damping ratio etc. is increasing for the astigmatic designs of the civil structures. To obtain some of the dynamic properties, measurement of elastic waves velocity, both P and S wave, is required. Among various methods to measure elastic wave velocity such and Down Hole, Cross Hole and Refraction etc., Suspension P.S. Logging has an advantage to use for the off-shore investigation where generation of the shock wave and traveling of the wave is difficult. In suspension P.S. logging, specially designed prove equipped with source of shock wave, two 3-channel receivers, departing 1m distance, and other auxiliary facilities is inserted down in a bore hole bottom and raised in predetermined interval, usually 1m or 2m, and measurement is conducted. P.S. logging have been conducted in a off-shore construction project near InChon in the west coast for the first in the country, and form the result, potential of the liquefaction of the subsoil was evaluated and compared with the conventional method.
In this paper, affection of jumping motion factors on visual effects are studied for game character's natural motion realization. First, 3 kinds of games that realize natural motions are selected and 4-types of characters jumping motions are captured from it. Then, the motions are measured using four fundamental principles of jumping as takeoff strength, landing impact, landing elasticity and flexibility, and measured in motion factors as time, distance, angle either. Finally, consistent characteristics of visual effects and motion factors on jumping motion are suggested. The study could be used to basic information for realization of character's natural jumping motion.
The plane contact problem for two infinite elastic layers whose elastic constants and heights are different is considered. The layers lying on a Winkler foundation are acted upon by symmetrical distributed loads whose lengths are 2a applied to the upper layer and uniform vertical body forces due to the effect of gravity in the layers. It is assumed that the contact between two elastic layers is frictionless and that only compressive normal tractions can be transmitted through the interface. The contact along the interface will be continuous if the value of the load factor, ${\lambda}$, is less than a critical value. However, interface separation takes place if it exceeds this critical value. First, the problem of continuous contact is solved and the value of the critical load factor, ${\lambda}_{cr}$, is determined. Then, the discontinuous contact problem is formulated in terms of a singular integral equation. Numerical solutions for contact stress distribution, the size of the separation areas, critical load factor and separation distance, and vertical displacement in the separation zone are given for various dimensionless quantities and distributed loads.

This study investigates the dynamic analysis of a transversely isotropic thin plate. The plate is made of hyperelastic John's material and its constitutive law is obtained by taken the Frechect derivative of the highlighted energy function with respect to the geometry of deformation. The three-dimensional equation governing the motion of the plate is expressed in terms of first Piola-Kirchhoff's stress tensor. In the reduction to an equivalent two-dimensional plate equation, the obtained model generalizes the classical plate equation of motion. It is obtained that the plate under consideration exhibits harmonic force within its planes whereas this force varnishes in the classical plate model. The presence of harmonic forces within the planes of the considered plate increases the natural and resonance frequencies of the plate in free and forced vibrations respectively. Further, the parameter characterizing the transversely isotropic structure of the plate is observed to increase the plate flexural rigidity which in turn increases both the natural and resonance frequencies. Finally, this study reinforces the view that non-classical models of problems in elasticity provide ample opportunity to reveal important phenomena which classical models often fail to apprehend.

Being a medium to help understand the status of the whole body including the Five Vital Organs and the Six Viscera such as the heart, the mac is considered to represent the elasticity of the blood vessel and the condition of the bloodstream in the Oriental medicine. A doctor makes a subjective judgment on a patient's conditions based on the information derived from the diagnosis and the medical examination of the mac wave. Thus he or she needs objective records and make a decision based on them in order to prevent misdiagnosis. This paper set out to suggest the ways to detect the particular parameters of the mac wave with the methods to visualize the mac wave interpretation to detect basic documents(causes) of health status judgment in three-dimension and with the simulation.

PURPOSES : This study tries to develop the accident models of 4-legged signalized intersections in Busan Metropolitan city with random parameter in count model to understanding the factors mainly influencing on accident frequencies. METHODS : To develop the traffic accidents modeling, this study uses RP(random parameter) negative binomial model which enables to take account of heterogeneity in data. By using RP model, each intersection's specific geometry characteristics were considered. RESULTS : By comparing the both FP(fixed parameter) and RP modeling, it was confirmed the RP model has a little higher explanation power than the FP model. Out of 17 statistically significant variables, 4 variables including traffic volumes on minor roads, pedestrian crossing on major roads, and distance of pedestrian crossing on major/minor roads are derived as having random parameters. In addition, the marginal effect and elasticity of variables are analyzed to understand the variables'impact on the likelihood of accident occurrences. CONCLUSIONS : This study shows that the uses of RP is better fitted to the accident data since each observations'specific characteristics could be considered. Thus, the methods which could consider the heterogeneity of data is recommended to analyze the relationship between accidents and affecting factors(for example, traffic safety facilities or geometrics in signalized 4-legged intersections).

Wire-suspensions in the conventional actuators mechanically support the moving part and guarantee the accuracy of the actuator without tangential tilt actuation. However, such a suspension configuration has considerable stiffness in the tangential tilt direction with two additional wire beams for the tangential tilt. Thus, we performed a design sensitivity analysis for the wire-suspension stiffness of 4-axis actuator and controlled the main parameters such as distance among wire-suspensions and wire-suspension length to allow tangential tilt flexibility. The elasticity of frame PCB that supports the moving part by wire-suspensions was also exploited to improve the flexibility of wire-suspension in the tangential tilt direction. A novel suspension structure was devised by establishing eight wire-suspensions at both sides of the moving part for electrical connection to coils. The magnetic circuit according to the proposed 4-axis actuator using multi-polar magnet and coils was also suggested for the generation of electromagnetic forces in the focusing, tracking, radial and tangential tilt directions.

A two-dimensional program for the analysis of bimaterial inclusion has been developed using the bound- ary element method. In order to study the effects of circular inclusion on the stress field of the crack tip, numerical analysis was performed for the straight crack of finite length around the symmetric circular inclusion whose modulus of elasticity was different from that of the matrix material. In the case of inclusion whose stiffness was smaller than that of the matrix material, the stress intensity factor was found to increase as the crack enamated. The stress intensity factor was uninfluenced from the radial change in inclusion and remained constant for the stiffness equivalent to the matrix materials, where as it decreased for the inclusion with larger stiffness. For the vareation in the distance of the inclusion, a small increase in the stress intensity factor was observed for the case with small or equal stiffness compared with the matrix materials. The inclusion with larger stiffness showed a gradual decrease in the strss intensity factor as the crack emanated.

Local probe techniques such as scanning probe microscopy (SPM) or atomic force microscopy (AFM) extended our perception into ultra small world. Specially, the sense of touching was extended by AFM into the micro- and nanoworld and has provided complementary new insights of the microscopic world. In addition, touching objects is an essential step before trying to manipulate things. SPM as a touch sensor not only measure the mechanical properties but also detect different properties such as magnetic, electrical, ionic, thermal, chemical and biophysical properties in nanoscale and even less. Obtaining biophysical measurements, monitoring dynamics and processes together with high-resolution imaging of the biomolecules and cells with rather simpler sample preparation than any other techniques give great attractions to the scientists experimenting with biological samples. Among the many AFM capabilities we will specifically introduce the force plot which is used to measure tip-sample interactions and its application this time.
In this study, continuous contact problem in the functionally graded (FG) layer loaded with a FG flat punch resting on the elastic semi-infinite plane was analyzed by the finite element method (FEM). It was assumed that the shear modulus and density of the layer and punch varied according to exponentially throughout their depth. FG layer's weight was included to the problem and additionally all surfaces were considered as frictionless. Analysis of FG materials was performed with a special macro which was added to the ANSYS program. Firstly, the shear modulus of the punch was considered to be very rigid and the results of initial separation load (λcr) and distance (xcr) were compared with the analytical solution. Afterwards, results obtained from the contact analysis made according to the inhomogeneity parameters (β, γ) between FG punch-FG layer which had been unprecedented in the literature were discussed. As a result, FG punch's stress values at the punch edges where stress accumulations occurred were found to be smaller than the rigid punch. The security of the structure, longer life of the material and ease of production are directly related to the reduction of the stress values. The results obtained in this study are important in this respect. Also this work is the first study that investigates the effect of FG punch on the FG layer.
