This paper presents the displacement behavior safety of hollow shafts with an equivalent volume for various cross sectional area using a finite element method. The FEM results indicate that the hollow shafts with X-type or Y-type columns between outer tube, middle tube and inner tube may reduce a maximum displacement at the middle length of hollow shafts. Especially, the load-bearing column of X-type or Y-type hollow shaft is directly connected between outer tube and inner tube without a shift for reducing the vertical displacement. And increased thickness of a load-bearing column is recommended for reducing the vertical displacement and increasing the displacement behavior safety for an equivalent volume of a hollow shaft.

The pressure ripple in the delivery port is caused by flow ripple, which is induced by variation of pumping chamber volume. The other reason is the reverse flow from the outlet volume produced by pressure difference between pumping chamber and outlet volume, when the pumping chamber is connected with the outlet volume. In this study, a mathematical model is presented for analyzing discharge pressure ripple, which includes vane detachment, cam ring movement , and fluid inertia effects in V-groove in the side plate. From the analysis and experiment, it was found that V-groove on the side plate, coefficient of spring supporting the cam ring, and average discharge pressure are the main factors of discharge pressure ripple in variable displacement vane pump. The theoretical results, provided in this study, were well agreed with experimental results. The analytical model to estimate the magnitude of pressure ripple in this study is expected to be used f3r the optimal design of the variable displacement vane pump.

Background Accurate breast volume assessment is a prerequisite to preoperative planning, as well as intraoperative decision making in breast reconstruction surgery. The use of three-dimensional surface imaging (3D scanning) to assess breast volume has many advantages. However, before employing 3D scanning in the field, the tool's validity should be demonstrated. The purpose of this study was to confirm the validity of 3D-scanning technology for evaluating breast volume. Methods We reviewed the charts of 25 patients who underwent breast reconstruction surgery immediately after total mastectomy. Breast volumes using the Axis Three 3D scanner, water-displacement technique, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) were obtained bilaterally in the preoperative period. During the operation, the tissue removed during total mastectomy was weighed and the specimen volume was calculated from the weight. Then, we compared the volume obtained from 3D scanning with those obtained using the water-displacement technique, MRI, and the calculated volume of the tissue removed. Results The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) of breast volumes obtained from 3D scanning, as compared to the volumes obtained using the water-displacement technique and specimen weight, demonstrated excellent reliability. The ICC of breast volumes obtained using 3D scanning, as compared to those obtained by MRI, demonstrated substantial reliability. Passing-Bablok regression showed agreement between 3D scanning and the water-displacement technique, and showed a linear association of 3D scanning with MRI and specimen volume, respectively. Conclusions When compared with the classical water-displacement technique and MRI-based volumetry, 3D scanning showed significant reliability and a linear association with the other two methods.

In this study a traffic volume dependent displacement estimation model for Gwangan Bridge was developed using bridge monitoring big data. Traffic volume data for four different vehicle types and the vertical displacement data in the central position of the Gwangan Bridge were used to develop and validate the estimation model. Two statistical estimation models were developed using multiple regression analysis (MRA) and principal component analysis (PCA). Estimation performance of those two models were compared with actual values. The results show that both the MRA and the PCA based models are successfully estimating the vertical displacement of Gwangan Bridge. Based on the results, it is concluded that the developed model can effectively be used to predict the traffic volume dependent displacement behavior of Gwangan Bridge.

In this study, based on the correlation between traffic volume data and vertical displacement data developed in previous research using the bridge maintenance big data of 2006, the vertical displacement estimation model using the traffic volume data of Gwangan Bridge for 10 years A comparison of the performance of the developed model with the current applicability is presented. The present applicability of the developed model is analyzed that the estimated displacement is similar to the actual displacement and that the displacement estimation performance of the model based on the structured regression analysis and the principal component analysis is not significantly different from each other. In conclusion, the vertical displacement estimation model using the traffic volume data developed by this study can be effectively used for the analysis of the behavior according to the traffic load of Gwangan Bridge.
Purpose: To evaluate the radial displacement of clinical target volume in the patients with node negative head and neck (H&N) cancer and to quantify the relative positional changes compared to that of normal healthy volunteers. Materials and Methods: Three node-negative H&N cancer patients and five healthy volunteers were enrolled in this study. For setup accuracy, neck thermoplastic masks and laser alignment were used in each of the acquired computed tomography (CT) images. Both groups had total three sequential CT images in every two weeks. The lymph node (LN) level of the neck was delineated based on the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) consensus guideline by one physician. We use the second cervical vertebra body as a reference point to match each CT image set. Each of the sequential CT images and delineated neck LN levels were fused with the primary image, then maximal radial displacement was measured at 1.5 cm intervals from skull base (SB) to caudal margin of LN level V, and the volume differences at each node level were quantified. Results: The mean radial displacements were 2.26 (${\pm}1.03$) mm in the control group and 3.05 (${\pm}1.97$) in the H&N cancer patients. There was a statistically significant difference between the groups in terms of the mean radial displacement (p = 0.03). In addition, the mean radial displacement increased with the distance from SB. As for the mean volume differences, there was no statistical significance between the two groups. Conclusion: This study suggests that a more generous radial margin should be applied to the lower part of the neck LN for better clinical target coverage and dose delivery.
Purpose: Disc displacement can cause resorption of the head of the condyle and affect its volume. This study analysed the volume of normal condyles and those with disc displacement with reduction (DDR) in cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans from the Indonesian population. Materials and Methods: This study analysed 56 condyles (26 normal and 30 with DDR) from patients who visited the Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology Unit after being referred from the Prosthodontics Unit at Dental Hospital Universitas Padjadjaran from December 2020 to February 2021. Samples were divided into 2 groups (normal and DDR left and right-side condyles) based on the DC/TMD Axis 1 form through the clinical examination results. Both sample groups were exposed to CBCT radiation. The CBCT imaging results in the Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine format were exported to the open-source ITK-SNAP format to determine condyle volume. Volumetric data from the cortical and trabecular areas of the right or left side condyles were arranged by sex. The independent t-test was used to determine the significance of differences with IBM SPSS version 21.0. Intra- and inter-observer reliability and validity were tested before determining the volume of the condyles. Results: Normal condyles and DDR condyles showed significant differences in volume (P<0.05). Significant differences were also seen in cortical (P=0.0007) and trabecular (P=0.0045) volumes. There was a significant difference in condylar volume based on sex. Conclusion: The normal condyle volume was significantly different from the DDR condyle volume in both sexes.
Dynamic response of a laminated porous concrete beam reinforced by nanoparticles subjected to harmonic transverse dynamic load is investigated considering structural damping. The effective nanocomposite properties are evaluated on the basis of Mori-Tanaka model. The concrete beam is modeled by the sinusoidal shear deformation theory (SSDT). Utilizing nonlinear strains-deflection, energy relations and Hamilton's principal, the governing final equations of the concrete laminated beam are calculated. Utilizing differential quadrature method (DQM) as well as Newmark method, the dynamic displacement of the concrete laminated beam is discussed. The influences of porosity parameter, nanoparticles volume percent, agglomeration of nanoparticles, boundary condition, geometrical parameters of the concrete beam and harmonic transverse dynamic load are studied on the dynamic displacement of the laminated structure. Results indicated that enhancing the nanoparticles volume percent leads to decrease in the dynamic displacement about 63%. In addition, with considering porosity of the concrete, the dynamic displacement enhances about 2.8 time.
