We present a new technique for multilevel editing of hierarchical B-spline curves. At each level, control points of a displacement function are expressed in the rotation minimizing frames (RMFs) [1] which are computed on nodal points of the curve at previous level. When the curve is edited at previous level, the corresponding RMFs are updated and the control points of the displacement function at current level are applied to the new RMFs, which maintains the relative details of the curve at current level to those of previous level. We demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed technique using several experimental results.
Natural vibration of truss cable structures is analyzed based upon the general structural analysis software ANSYS, energy variational method and Rayleigh method, the calculated results of three methods are compared, from which the characteristics of free-vibration are obtained. Moreover, vertical seismic response analysis of truss cable structures is carried out via time-history method. Introducing three natural earthquake waves calculated the results including time-history curve of vertical maximal displacement, time-history curve of maximal internal force. Variation curve of maximal displacement of node along span, and variation curve of maximal internal force of member along span are presented. The results show the formulas of frequencies for truss cable structures obtained by energy variational method are of high accuracy. Furthermore, the maximal displacement and the maximal internal force occur near the 1/5 span point. These provide convenient and simple design method for practical engineering.

In this study, it was developed that the software could be used to estimate consolidation settlement by curve fitting method according to Terzaghi's consolidation theory on the condition of gradual incremental loading, and the method of estimating settlement caused by lateral displacement was suggested, in which the settlement was calculated from the difference between the settlement calculated with the developed software using the early part of measured data and the settlement measured for the short duration from the beginning of embankment in the field. The verification of the suggested method of estimating settlement caused by lateral displacement showed good results.

By the reason of increased demand of high productivity and quality, the manufacturer have an effort in many directions of a machine tool industries. Among there, we proposed method of decreasing displacement in MC(machining center). In other words, Quality related with vibration of a tool cutting products. For decreasing it, improved by optimizing a shape of the column-part and acceleration curves of motors. In this paper we could find design factors has much influence on decreasing the displacement using the DOE(Design of Experiments) and optimized the level of the factors using $ADAMS^{(R)}$ and $MINITAB.^{(R)}$ And we suggest optimized a acceleration curve using $Matlab^{(R)}$.

The settlement of embankment on soft clay includes shear settlement due to shear deformation. Even though the consolidation settlement is not related to lateral displacement, but shear settlement makes the embankment unstable because it deforms ground and decreases the ground strength. In order to determine the shear deformation behaviour during embankment construction, 3 cases (1B, 2B, and 3B) of rapid undrained loading tests on soft clays were performed. Shear settlement is consist of elastic settlement, plastic settlement and viscous settlement. Elastic settlement isn't considered because the range is small, therefore the first is the range of plastic displacement, and the second is that of viscous displacement in the displacement-time curve for each loading stage. After determining that the change in the inclination of the viscous displacement range is larger than in the plastic displacement range after the ground failure occurs for the loading stage, the stability management methods were suggested considering that it is hard to divide the plastic displacement range and the viscous displacement range. The stability management method was based on the ratio of the plastic displacement range's inclination and the viscous displacement range's inclination. A stability management method based on the ratio of the total inclination for each loading stage compared to the whole inclination in the initial loading stage was also recommended.
This paper reports a new analytical method to calculate the planar displacement of structures. The cross-sections were assumed to remain in plane and the deflection curve was evaluated using the curvature values geometrically, despite being solved with differential equations. The deflection curve was parameterized with the arc-length of the curvature values, and was taken as an assembly of chains of circular arcs. Fast and accurate solutions of complex deflections can be obtained easily. This paper includes a comparison of the nonlinear displacements of an elastic tapered cantilever beam with a uniform moment distribution among the proposed analytical method, numerical method of the theory and large deflection FEM solutions.

A simple finite element approach to predicting deformed shape and load-deflection curve of elastomers is presented in this paper. The method is based on several simplifications in deformation pattern and material behavior. The conventional updated Lagrangian approach is employed together with material data obtained by a simple tension test. The presented approach is verified through comparison of predicted results with experimental ones and applied successfully to shape design of various elastomers for shock, vibration and noise control. The advantage of the presented approach lies in easiness, simplicity and accuracy enough for engineering application.
Given a noncompact semisimple Lie group G and its maximal compact Lie subgroup K such that the right multiplication of each element in K gives an isometry on G, consider a principal bundle G → G/K, which is a Riemannian submersion. We study the infinitesimal holonomy isometries. Given a closed curve at eK in the base space G/K, consider the holonomy displacement of e by the horizontal lifting of the curve. We prove that the correspondence is continuous.
SP test has been confirmed the availability, however the application of SP test is hampered because the relation of stress-strain and load-displacement is not determined definitely. This study suggested an evaluation technique of plastic flow characteristic for X20CrMoV121 steel weldment through inverse analysis using SP test and finite element analysis(FEA). From the result, good agreement was found in load-displacement curves obtained from SP test and FEA. Also, The behavior of load-displacement curve from FEA show a rule that load is increase with increasing K(strength coefficient) and displacement is increase with increasing n(work hardening index). From the inverse analysis, true stress-strain curve could be obtained for each local structure of weldment. And the CGHAZ and WM, which showed lower load- displacement behavior, have smaller work hardening index, while FGHAZ have the largest index.

Detail development and performance tests were conducted for the purpose of developing a damper system capable of lateral displacement control of existing frame structures. The development details are 1) ALD designed to prevent deformation of beams between columns and 2) AWD designed to control inter-story displacement. The non-reinforced BF specimen was used as a comparative study. The evaluation variables are failure mode, load-displacement curve, envelope curve, maximum strength, stiffness degradation and energy dissipation capacity. As a result, the seismic strengthening effect of ALD and AWD was confirmed. Also, it was confirmed that the method of restraining the column with the aramid sheet is superior to the improvement of the seismic performance.
