The government [3] specifies steel pipe scaffolding as conventional scaffolding and is promoting the installation of system scaffolding, an integrated work platform, and avoidance of the use of steel pipe scaffolding as much as possible. However, in places where equipment cannot enter, such as power plants and plant sites, places the structure is complex, and places where scaffolding cannot be stacked on the ground, there is no choice but to install steel pipe scaffolding. When installing steel pipe scaffolding on an H-beam structure at a high place, the performance of the steel frame clamp is very important in order to form a work space which workers can work safely. In this study, the displacement magnitude and tensile load of members in each installation direction of the clamp for steel frame were verified through performance tests and structural analysis modeling. As a result, it was confirmed that the performance for each installation direction satisfies the safety certification standard tensile load of 10,000N. Although the performance value is satisfactory, deformation of the attachment pressing bolt was verified and was confirmed to have minimal deformation. Thus, to ensure the load is properly to the attachment body, the clamp for a steel frame must be installed in the direction in which the load is transmitted.
This study verified the stability of a high-strength combined buried pile retaining wall and its applicability in the field. A cast-in-place (C.I.P) retaining wall and the high-strength combined embedded pile retaining wall were compared and analyzed numerically. The numerical analysis assessed the ground behavior and stability (and thus field applicability) of a high-strength combined buried pile retaining wall using data measured in the field. The experimental results showed that the cross-sectional force and displacement of the high-strength bonded pile retaining wall were reduced by 13.6~19.7%, the shear force increased by 0.7~4.7%, and the bending moment increased by 4.5~8.8% relative to the values for the C.I.P retaining wall. Examination of the amount of subsidence in the ground around the excavation showed that the maximum settlement of the C.I.P retaining wall was 46.89 mm and that at the high-strength combined buried pile retaining wall was 39.37 mm. Overall, designing a high-strength combined embedded pile retaining wall by applying the maximum bending moment and shear force calculated using the elastic beam method to the site ground was shown to achieve the safety of all members, as member forces were generated within the elastic region.
We interpreted the evolutionary history of the southwestern part of the Pohang Basin, the largest Miocene basin in the southeastern part of the Korean Peninsula, based on the detailed geological mapping and analysis of the geological structures. The southwestern part of the Pohang Basin can be divided into the Bomun Domain in the west and Ocheon Domain in the east by an NNE-trending horst-in-graben. These two domains have different geometries and deformation histories. The Bomun Domain was rarely deformed after the incipient extension of the basin, whereas the Ocheon Domain is an area where continued and overlapped deformations occurred after the basin fill deposition. Therefore, the Bomun Domain provides critical information on the initial extension mode of the Pohang Basin. The subsidence of the Bomun Domain was led by the zigzag-shaped western border fault that consists of NNE-striking normal and NNW-striking dextral strike-slip fault segments. This border fault is connected to the Yeonil Tectonic Line (YTL), a regional dextral principal displacement zone and the westernmost limit of Miocene crustal deformation in SE Korea. Therefore, it is interpreted that the Pohang Basin was initially extended in WNW-ESE direction as a transtensional fault-termination basin resulting from the movement of NNE-striking normal and/or oblique-slip faults formed as right-stepover in the northern termination of the YTL activated since approximately 17-16.5 Ma. As a result, an NNE-trending asymmetric graben or half-graben exhibiting an westward deepening of basin depth was formed in the Bomun Domain. Afterward, crustal extension and deformation were migrated to the east, including the Ocheon Domain.
Recent advances in new media for sensory experiences keep expanding visual expression methods in installation art such as projection mapping and virtual reality. Artists can create and develop visual expression techniques based on such new media. Projection mapping is a new medium that continues to add various possibilities to visual expression in media art. Under the projection mapping environment, artists can recompose the object or space with the digital content by projecting video onto three-dimensional surfaces in the space. This paper focuses on the process where visual expression with the projection mapping technology leads to viewers' sensory experience. To this end, "reproducibility," "dissemination," "virtuality," and "interactivity" of media were analyzed to describe the meaning and *definition of visual expression. Artworks are considered as an example to study visual expression techniques such as "repetition and overlap," "simulacrum and metaphor," and "displacement and conversion." I applied the analysis and created Domino, a projection mapping artwork, which helps the research on visual expression techniques that can lead to sensory experience the extensibility of visual expression.

This study presents basic data on how to secure stability by analyzing the change in tensile force of steel rod and the inclination characteristics of PSC BOX in the "Temporary fixation system using internal prestressing tendon", which is mainly applied to construction of superstructures by FCM. To date, it has been difficult to confirm the changes in tension force of the steel rod and the inclination of the PSC BOX because the steel rod was installed vertically inside the pier and the PSC BOX. Therefore, measurement of the change in length of the steel rod and the displacement of PSC BOX were performed using a micro-measured FBG sensor. Comparisons of the calculated tensile force and the residual tensile force of the steel rod revealed that the safety factor decreased in all bridges. The cause was mainly identified to be the loss of tensile force in fixation~1segment, and countermeasures are suggested. The analysis of the inclination characteristics showed that the inclination increased with the segment progresses even in bridges with sufficient safety factor, and the difference before and after the segment was confirmed. In addition, the increase in inclination was related to the loss of tension force in the steel rod, and the stress on the opposite sides of the inclination was further reduced. It is believed that upward tensile force is generated in the steel rod on the opposite side of the inclined side due to the unbalanced moment, causing the difference in stress of the steel rod between the two sides.

This paper proposes the application of harmonic constraints to address the problems caused by abnormal voltage increases when electric railway vehicles are running. The AC line that supplies the train with power during operation is used to provide electricity of 25kV/60 Hz, but gradually the size and frequency of harmonics involved in the line are varied with the technological evolution of the railroad vehicle electrical equipment. An increase in heat losses due to the failure of the instrument transformer (PT), the main circuit device, which is a serious problem with the recent train safety operation, or to the main displacement voltage. When high frequency components are introduced through low frequency Transformers of the main circuit device, the high intensity of the components is caused by the high intensity of the core and the current flow of the parasitic core is increased, thus generating heat. To solve this problem, the recent adjustment of the sequence has applied artificial NOTCH OFF of the power converter. However, the method of receiving and controlling the OFF signal operates by interaction between the ground and the vehicle's devices, thus it is invalid in the event of failure, and an actual accident is occurring. Therefore, the harmonic currents were required to prevent possible flow of harmonics, and conducted a study to prevent accidental occurrence of train accidents and to verify feasibility of the device through the simulations of the train's experimental analysis and the simulations of the train for safe operation.

In the present study, the thermoshearing experiment on a rough rock fracture were modeled using a three-dimensional grain-based distinct element model (GBDEM). The experiment was conducted by the Korea Institute of Construction Technology to investigate the progressive shear failure of fracture under the influence of thermal stress in a critical stress state. The numerical model employs an assembly of multiple polyhedral grains and their interfaces to represent the rock sample, and calculates the coupled thermo-mechanical behavior of the grains (blocks) and the interfaces (contacts) using 3DEC, a DEM code. The primary focus was on simulating the temperature evolution, generation of thermal stress, and shear and normal displacements of the fracture. Two fracture models, namely the mated fracture model and the unmated fracture model, were constructed based on the degree of surface matedness, and their respective behaviors were compared and analyzed. By leveraging the advantage of the DEM, the contact area between the fracture surfaces was continuously monitored during the simulation, enabling an examination of its influence on shear behavior. The numerical results demonstrated distinct differences depending on the degree of the surface matedness at the initial stage. In the mated fracture model, where the surfaces were in almost full contact, the characteristic stages of peak stress and residual stress commonly observed in shear behavior of natural rock joints were reasonably replicated, despite exhibiting discrepancies with the experimental results. The analysis of contact area variation over time confirmed that our numerical model effectively simulated the abrupt normal dilation and shear slip, stress softening phenomenon, and transition to the residual state that occur during the peak stress stage. The unmated fracture model, which closely resembled the experimental specimen, showed qualitative agreement with the experimental observations, including heat transfer characteristics, the progressive shear failure process induced by heating, and the increase in thermal stress. However, there were some mismatches between the numerical and experimental results regarding the onset of fracture slip and the magnitudes of fracture stress and displacement. This research was conducted as part of DECOVALEX-2023 Task G, and we expect the numerical model to be enhanced through continued collaboration with other research teams and validated in further studies.

For most structural evaluation of bridge integrity, it is very important to measure the geometric profile, which is a major factor representing the global behavior of civil structures, especially bridges. In the past, because of the lack of appropriate methods to measure the deflection profile of bridges on site, the measurement of deflection has been restricted to just a few discrete points along the bridge, and the measuring points have been limited to the locations installed with displacement transducers. Thus, some methods for predicting the static deflection by using fiber optic strain sensors has been applied to simply supported bridges. In this study, a method of estimating the static deflection profile by using strains measured from suspension bridges was proposed. Based on the classical deflection theory of suspension bridges, an equation of deflection profile was derived and applied to obtain the actual deflection profile on Namhae suspension bridge. Field load tests were carried out to measure strains from FBG strain sensors attached inside the stiffening girder of the bridge. The predicted deflection profiles were compared with both precise surveying data and numerical analysis results. Thus, it is found that the equation of predicting the deflection profiles proposed in this study could be applicable to suspension bridges and the FBG strain sensors could be reliable on acquiring the strain data from bridges on site.

The Second-generation high-temperature superconducting (HTS) Rare-Earth Barium Copper Oxide (REBCO) wire is a composite laminate having a multi-layer structure (8 or more layers). HTS wires will undergo multiple loads including the bending-tension loads during winding, high current density, and high magnetic fields. In particular, the wires are subjected to bending stress and magnetic field stress because HTS wires are wound around a circular bobbin when making a high-field magnetic. Each of the different laminated wires inevitably exhibits damage and fracture behavior of wire due to stress deformation, mismatches in thermal, physical, electrical, and magnetic properties. Therefore, when manufacturing high-field magnets and other applications, it is necessary to calculate the stress-strain experienced by high-temperature superconducting wire to present stable operating conditions in the product's use environment. In this study, the finite element model (FEM) was used to simulate the strain-stress characteristics of the HTS wire under high current density and magnetic field, and bending loads. In addition, the result of obtaining the neutral axis of the wire and the simulation result was compared with the theoretical calculation value and reviewed. As a result of the simulation using COMSOL Multiphysics, when a current of 100 A was applied to the wire, the current value showed the difference of 10-9. The stress received by the wire was 501.9 MPa, which showed a theoretically calculated value of 500 MPa and difference of 0.38% between simulation and theoretical method. In addition, the displacement resulted is 30.0012 ㎛, which is very similar to the theoretically calculated value of 30 ㎛. Later, the amount of bending stress by the circular mandrel was received for each layer and the difference with the theoretically obtained the neutral axis result was compared and reviewed. This result will be used as basic data for manufacturing high-field magnets because it can be expanded and analyzed even in the case of wire with magnetic flux pinning.

The aging of plant structures due to industrialization in the 1970s has increased the demand for blast demolition. While blasting can reduce exposure to environmental pollution by shortening the demolition period, improper blasting design and construction plans pose significant safety risks. Thus, it is vital to consider optimal blasting demolition conditions and other factors through collapse behavior simulation. This study utilizes a 3-D combined finite-discrete element method (FDEM) code-based 3-D DFPA to simulate the collapse of a chimney structure in a thermal power plant in Seocheon, South Korea. The collapse behavior from the numerical simulation is compared to the actual structure collapse, and the numerical simulation result presents good agreement with the actual building demolition. Additionally, various numerical simulations have been conducted on the chimney models to analyze the impact of the duct size in the pre-weakening area. The no-duct, duct, and double-area duct models were compared in terms of crack pattern and history of Z-axis displacement. The findings show that the elapse-time for demolition decreases as the area of the duct increases, causing collapse to occur quickly by increasing the load-bearing area.
