  • The microcapsules containing fragrant material as functional compound were produced by in-situ polymerization. The prepolymer was made from urea-formaldehyde(UF) and melamine-formaldehyde(MF) as wall materials of microcapsules. The effects of wall material, dispersing agent and ratio of wall material to core material on the mean diameter variation were investigated. Thermal efficiency and release behavior of microcapsules were measured. The resultant UF and MF microcapsules are capable of preserving fragrant oil for long self-life.

  • In order to prepare the uniform copper particles from copper chloride solution, the reduction behavior of copper particles from copper chloride and the effects of reduction agent and dispersing agent was investigated. In the case that 2.56 M of $C_6H_8O_6$ was used as a reduction agent, the highly dispersed Cu particles with sharp size distribution were generated from 0.96M of copper chloride solution, and the size of Cu particles was $6\~10\;{\mu}m$. To form $Cu(NH_3)_4Cl_2$ complex solution, $NH_4OH$ was added in the copper chloride solution before the reductive reaction of Cu ion. The generated Cu particles have a two kind of shape, spherical and rod-like. In the case that $N_2H_4{\cdot}H_2O$ was used as a reduction agent, the very fine spherical Cu particles with the size of $0.2\~0.5\;{\mu}m$ was obtained. Arabic gum as a dispersing agent was more effective than $Na_4P_2O_7{\cdot}10H_2O$.

  • Based on the former researches, this article studied the influence of cone harvesting of Korean pine on the regeneration of Korean pine trees and the life of animals in Mt. Changbai Nature Reserve. When the cone matures, scales of the cone do not open so the seeds can not be released automatically. And the seeds, if left inside, are hard to germinate and can not grow further into seedlings. The seeds of Korean pine have deep dormancy characteristics. Natural regeneration of Korean pine is very poor under mother trees. Hoarding behavior of dispersing animals not only helps animals for food shortage period but also contributes to the dispersion of seeds of Korean pine. Among those hoarding animals, squirrel and Eurasian nutcrackers are found to be the most important dispersing agents for the seeds of Korean pine. After cone harvesting, the number of those dispersers reduced a lot since the seeds of Korean pine are very important food for them. Seed quantity of Korean pine on surface layer became very few and most of them only showed single distribution. Most of the seeds were buried under litter layer and showed a single or 2-4 seeds/cluster distribution. The case of more than 4 seeds in one cluster was few. The seed quantity of Korean pine forest on steep slopes of the research area was only 0.3% of the seed quantity in 1980 for the same forest type. If seed source of Korean pine are not protected, Korean pine forest in Mt. Changbai Nature Reserve would not maintain present feature in the future.

  • Objective : This study was conducted to infer the effect of superficies-resolveing herbs by analyzing effect terms which have extracted and refined, based on four temperatures and five tastes. Method : Firstly, temperatures, tastes and effect terms were extracted from the 27 kinds of superficies-resolving herbs written in Herbology. Then, each effect terms was divided into single meaning term and refined as typical term, using the inclusive effect terms I established. After that, herbs were grouped by tastes and found the effect terms which are mentioned most frequently. And it could be supposed to be classified into each herb's new effects based on the relationship between properties and those effect terms. It is also inferred into new tastes from some herbs by analysing the representative effects group of each taste and finding which other tastes can be related to each herb's effect. Result & Conclusion : All the superficies-resolving herbs can have wind-dispelling effect and superficies-resolving effect, except Bulpleuri Radix. This herb is able to has just the wind-dispelling effect. And it's more appropriate to categorize Bulpleuri Radix to heat-clearing herb group than superficies-resolving herb group, considering its several, distinctly cold characteristics. Some effects are concentrated to wind-cold-dispersing herb group and others to wind-heat-dispersing herb group. Each tastes has its own representative effect group. And, according to its tastes' representative effect, some of herbs are reasonable to get new effect term. With not so feasible reason, 4 kinds of herbs are supposed to contain all of hot, bitter, and sweet tastes. Also It's needed to study much deeper whether Perillae Herba, Zingiberis Rhizoma Crudus and Elsholtziae Herba are belong to superficies-resolving herb group or to interior-warming or damp-dissolving aromatic herb group.

  • In this study, for efficiency enhancement of low temperature heat exchanger, the thermal conductivity and the viscosity of carbon nanofluids and oxidized carbon nanofluids were measured at $10^{\circ}C$ and $25^{\circ}C$, respectively. Carbon nanofluids were made by ultrasonic-dispersing ones in distilled water after Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes (MWCNTs) mixed Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate (SDS, 100 wt%), Polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP, 300 wt%) each. Oxidized carbon nanofluids were made by ultrasonic-dispersing Oxidized Carbon Nanotubes (OMWCNTs) in distilled water. The thermal conductivity of carbon nanofluids was measured by using a transient hot-wire method. The viscosity was measured by using a digital viscometer. As a result, the thermal conductivity of oxidized carbon nanofluids was the highest of those compared and the other carbon nanofluids at the same mixture ratio and temperature, and the viscosity was measured the lowest of those compared and the other carbon nanofluids.

  • The surface of natural graphite has not only good electrical conductivities and lubrication properties but also has strong hydrophobicity. There are no functional groups and chemical properties on it. It is difficult to join with any other ions and to disperse in aqueous system. In order to increase dispersion ability throughout modification of surface property, it is necessary to let graphite have some function on its surface by the adsorption of surfactant molecules. In this study, using zeta potential adsorbed surfactant molecules(ABDM) on graphite surface and its surface Properties turn hydrophobic into hydrophilic. The dispersing mechanism of graphite particles in aqueous system has been explained using the DLVO theory, It is concluded that the high dispersable graphite suspension of which dispersing stability$(T_{1/2})$ is 44.5 hours at pH 10 and 22.5mV zeta potential can be produced.

  • In this paper, we propose a new method dispersing spatially C(Cyan), M(Magenta), Y(Yellow) instead of K(black) in the bright region. The overlapping of black dots decreases brightness in the dark region, and black dots are very sensitive to human visual system in the bright region. Therefore, to avoid this problem, bright and dark gray region in the color image is considered in the proposed approach. A new method which uses CMY simultaneously in single mask is proposed, and CMY dots are used dispersing spatially for the bright region instead of black dot by this method. And tone curve connection is used to consider the gray level of dark region. In previous method, BNM (Blue Noise Mask) has high granularity and a narrow dynamic range. But the proposed method has the low granularity, wide dynamic range, and high contrast properties. Because the proposed method uses three times dots spatially in the different position than a conventional BNM, it can express more spatial information and a similar gray level compared with BNM.

  • Alkaline sulfite-anthraquinone(AS-AQ) cooking process has been applied to unground pine bark. The properties of the spent liquor such as molecular weight distributions, sulfonic equivalent weights, degree of sulfonation, phenolic hydroxyl groups and kaolin dispersing ability have been investigated to evaluate the possibility of using this liquor as concrete additives or binders. In the case of ground bark meal, more than 90% delignification was achieved at the optimal cooking conditions. However, applying these conditions on unground bark the delignification was slightly retarded. The decrease in the degree of delignification may be attributed to less penetration and diffusion of chemicals during the cooking of the bark. Increasing the cooking temperature only by $5^{\circ}C$ improved the delignification of the bark and about 90% delignification can be achieved. These results indicate that bark can be used successfully during AS-AQ cooking without any mechanical or physical pretreatment. The properties of lignin or polyphenol sulfonates in the spent liquor after AS-AQ cooking of the bark were compared with Sunflo-R, which is commercial lignosulfonate(CLS) prepared from wood. The weight average molecular weights(Mws) estimated by gel-filteration chromatography was found to be ranging from 1,200~1,800. These are considerably lower than those in CLS. Lignin or polyphenol sulfonates in the spent liquor of bark and CLS have similar degree of sulfonation, but the phenolic hydroxyl group was 1.8 times higher than CLS. Moreover, the dispersing abilities of the spent liquors were better than that of CLS, especially after 0.1% addition to kaolin suspension.

  • To synthesize ZnO colloidal solution by a sol-gel process, zinc acetate ($C_{4}H_{6}O_{4}Zn{\cdot}2H_{2}O{\cdot}0.2\;mol$) and lithium hydroxide ($LiOH{\cdot}H_{2}O{\cdot}0.14\;mol$) in the ethanol were added to the solution containing a dispersing agent, hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC). The nanosize and physical shape of the synthesized ZnO particles were determined by HPC acting as the dispersing agent. Nanosized ZnO particles were also obtained by a precipitation method based on zinc-2-ethylhexagonate. The precipitates were characterized by DLS, XRD, FE-SEM, and UV-vis. As the results, the ZnO colloids tend to self-assemble into a well-ordered hexagonal close-packed structure. The ZnO nanoparticles have an average diameter of nearly 40 nm with a narrow size distribution.

  • This study analysed error of measurement and reproducibility for particle size analysis by the laser diffraction spectrometer. Laser diffraction spectrometers has become a very important method of particle size analysis. This measuring method has the advantage of simple operation, good reproducibility and rapid analysis. A feeding and dispersing system have been developed, which allows mass throughputs between 0.1~23 g/min in flowing air and 1.4~35% in flowing liquid. It has been used as a feeder unit for wet and dry particle size analysis from diffraction patterns. Relevant parameters, such as particle shape, particle size, dispersion, flow rate, concentration were analysed for measuring error. And system parameters of instruments for measurement of dynamic processes, eg, measuring time, focal plane, injection pressure drop and dispersion effect by the ultrasonic and mixing of preliminary treatment, were also discussed.
