  • A large amount of dye wastewater poses a threat to environmental safety. Disperse blue, an anthraquinone dye that is widely used in textile dyes, is difficult to degrade in wastewater. In this work, one fungus was screened according to the decolorization rate of disperse blue. The fungus was identified and named Aspergillus XJ-2 on the basis of its morphological characteristics and 18s rDNA. Response surface method was used to optimize culture conditions for A. XJ-2. The optimum values of obtained responses were as follows: temperature, $35^{\circ}C$; pH, 5.2; carbon-to-nitrogen ratio, 30:5.5; and rotation ratio, $175r{\cdot}min^{-1}$. Under optimized conditions, the decolorization rate of A. XJ-2 was up to 94.8% in 48 h.

  • Novel azopyrazolin-5-one dyes 4a-f were synthesized by the regioselective reaction of phenylhydrazine with 2,3,4-chromantrione-3-arylhydrazones 2a-f. The acid dissociation constants $pK_a$ for the series prepared were determined and correlated by the Hammett equation. The results of such correlation together with the spectral data indicated that the studied compounds exist predominantly in the hydrazone keto structure, (D) as the Z-configuration. The dyes were applied to polyester fabrics, affording orange-yellow shades and assessments of their dyeing performance are considered. Further, the compounds 4a-f were screened for their antimicrobial activity against various microorganisms.

  • The purpose of this study is to modify the hydrophobic property and dyeability of polyethylene terephthalate fiber. Methacrylic acid (2nA) was graftpolymerized with benzoyl peroxide (BPO) as initiator onto polyethylene terephthalate fabrics. The results were as follow; 1. Graft-polymerization exhibited maximum graft ratio at a temperature of 100"C. 2. The polymer was gradually grafted in great amount to the surface of MA-g-PET as graft ration increase; with the cross-section examination of MA-g-PET, it was discovered that graft-polymeriation had also taken place inside the textile core. 3. Dyes absorption of basic dyes and disperse dyes was improved as craft ratio increase; with resistance to laundering, the former showed grade 3-4 and the latter showed grade 5.de 5.

  • For decolorization of synthetic dyes, One fungus(HUE05-1) which was isolated from textile wastewater collected from industrial complex in Korea showed excellent ability of removing synthetic dyes. This fungus was identified as Basidiomycetes species by Internal Transcribed Spacers (ITS) sequence. Isolated fungi. HUE05-1 completely decolorized all dyes in both solid and liquid condition. The decolorization results were Reactive Orange-16, 97.12%; Reactive Blue-19, 92.09%; Reactive Blue-49, 97.04%; Reactive Yellow-145, 95.53%; Acid Orange-10, 99.18%; Acid Violet-43, 98.73%; Acid Blue-350, 94.71% and Disperse Blue-106, 90.07%.

  • The study was investigated the improved printing effect of heat transfer ability for the cotton fabric treated with disperse dyes. Some important factors were studied to determine the most optimal conditions such as concentration of dye, treated time and temperature, after treatment and before treatment using swelling agent, and molecular weight of dye. The fastness to laundering and light for heat transfer printing was measured. The optimal conditions of heat transfer printing for cotton fabric treated with disperse dye were concentration of 5% owf, treated temperature of $200^{\circ}C$, treated time of 3 minute. The diffusion of disperse dyes inside cotton fabric was accelerated as a result of swelling agent such as glycerin, ethylene glycol, tetramethylene glycol, propylene glycol using in this study. The effects of heat transfer printing were increased that the increasement of before treatment time for swelling agent, decrease of molecular weight of dye.

  • The optimum carrier concentrations were obtained by the maxmium exhaustion ratios of polyester fabrics at 8$0^{\circ}C$ . The optimum concentrations of methylsalicylate, acetophenone, anisole, propiophenone, 2-ethyl hexyl alcohol, ethylene glycol and propylene glycol were $3g/\ell,\;12g/\ell,\;7g/\ell,\;5g/\ell,\;3g/\ell,\;35g/\ell,\;and\;40g/\ell$, respectively Azo, anthraquinone, and quinoline disperse dyes were quite stable up to PH 10.3, but nitro disperse dye were severely hydrolyzed in alkaline dyeing. The tensile strength decreased with increasing dyebath pH because the polyester fabrics were easily decomposed by alkali. The reduction cleaning could be canceled in alkaline dyeing because the carriers were solved by alkali during dyeing.

  • Polypropylene fibers are difficult to dye by conventional dyeing techniques due either to lack of dye receptor sites in their molecular structure to with the dye molecules may become attached, or to difficult of penetration of certain types of dye molecules into the structure$^1$. Although the diffusion coefficient of disperse dyes into polypropylene is quite high, the saturation values are very low.(omitted)

  • Dyeing and fastness properties of direct spun type PET microfiber fabrics have been investigated. The dye uptake of finer microfibers commenced at lower temperatures and showed faster rate of dye uptake. The build-up and wet fastness properties of disperse dyes on finer microfbers were relatively poor since the more dye was needed to achieve a given depth of shade due to the large surface area.

  • The deep black coloration of polyester fabrics was obtained by the physical properties of color and color mixing system. In this experiment, we have measured the absorbance and the reflectance of various disperse dyes for accomplishing the lowest lightness value and uniform reflectance, and new matching algorithm and computer color matching was made. The matching used both isomeric and metameric matching. The color matching of deep black color represented low lightness. Though actual reflectance of dyed polyester fabrics using these matching results was as high as theoretical one, low lightness value($L^*$) and uniform appearance were achieved.
