  • In this study, we consider a group-based random access method for group connection and delivery by grouping devices when H2H devices and large-scale M2M devices coexist in a cell in NB-IoT environment. H2H devices perform individual random access, but M2M devices are grouped according to a NPRACH transmission period, and a leader of each group performs random access. The preamble is allocated using the variable preamble allocation algorithm of the Disjoint Allocation(DA) method. The proposed preamble allocation algorithm is an algorithm that preferentially allocates preambles that maximizes throughput of H2H to H2H devices and allocates the rest to M2M devices. The access distribution of H2H and M2M devices was set as Poisson distribution and Beta distribution, respectively, and throughput, collision probability and resource utilization were analyzed. As the random access transmission slot is repeated, the proposed preamble allocation algorithm decreases the collision probability from 0.93 to 0.83 and 0.79 when the number M2M device groups are 150. In addition, it was found that the amount of increase decreased to 33.7[%], 44.9[%], and 48.6[%] of resource used.

  • The mobile network allows redundant transmission via disjoint paths to support high-reliability communication (e.g., ultrareliable and low-latency communications [URLLC]). Although redundant transmission can improve communication reliability, it also increases network costs (e.g., traffic and control overhead). In this study, we propose a reliability-guaranteed multipath allocation algorithm (RG-MAA) that allocates appropriate paths by considering the path setup time and dynamicity of the reliability paths. We develop an optimization problem using a constrained Markov decision process (CMDP) to minimize network costs while ensuring the required communication reliability. The evaluation results show that RG-MAA can reduce network costs by up to 30% compared with the scheme that uses all possible paths while ensuring the required communication reliability.

  • In this paper, we analyze the cycle property of the (n,k)-star graph that has an attention as an alternative interconnection network topology in recent years. Based on the graph-theoretic properties in (n,k)-star graphs, we show the pancyclic property of the graph and also present the corresponding algorithm. Based on the recursive structure of the graph, we present such top-down approach that the resulting cycle can be constructed by applying series of "dimension expansion" operations to a kind of cycles consisting of sub-graphs. This processing naturally leads to such property that the resulting cycles tend to be integrated compactly within some minimal subset of sub-graphs, and also means its applicability of another classes of the disjoint-style cycle problems. This result means not only the graph-theoretic contribution of analyzing the pancyclic property in the underlying graph model but also the parallel processing applications such a as message routing or resource allocation and scheduling in the multi-computer system with the corresponding interconnection network.

  • As one of the new self-organizing and self-configuration broadband networks, wireless mesh networks are being increasingly attractive. In order to solve the load balancing problem in wireless mesh networks, this paper proposes a novel multi-path routing algorithm based on clustering (Cluster_MMesh) for wireless mesh networks. In the clustering stage, on the basis of the maximum connectivity clustering algorithm and k-hop clustering algorithm, according to the idea of maximum connectivity, a new concept of node connectivity degree is proposed in this paper, which can make the selection of cluster head more simple and reasonable. While clustering, the node which has less expected load in the candidate border gateway node set will be selected as the border gateway node. In the multi-path routing establishment stage, we use the intra-clustering multi-path routing algorithm and inter-clustering multi-path routing algorithm to establish multi-path routing from the source node to the destination node. At last, in the traffic allocation stage, we will use the virtual disjoint multi-path model (Vdmp) to allocate the network traffic. Simulation results show that the Cluster_MMesh routing algorithm can help increase the packet delivery rate, reduce the average end to end delay, and improve the network performance.

  • Given a linear arrangement of n base stations which generate multiple types of traffic among themselves, we consider the problem of finding a set of disjoint clusters to cover n base statons so that a cluster is assigned a location server. Our goal is to minimize the total communication cost for the entire network where the cost of intra-cluster communication is usually lower than that of intercluster communication for each type of traffic. The optimization problem is transformed into an equivavalent problem using the concept of relative cost, which generates the difference of communication costs between intracluster and intercluster communications. Using the relative cost matrix, an efficient algorithm of O($mm^2$), where m is the number of clusters in a partition, is designed by dynamic programming. The algorithm also finds all thevalid partitions in the same polynomial time, given the size constraint on a cluster, and the total allowable communication cost for the entire network.
