In this paper, we proposed a new pattern classifier which can be incrementally learned, be added new class in learning time, and handle with analog data. Proposed pattern classifier has hierarchical structure and the classification rate is improved by using different metric for each levels. Proposed model is based on the Gaussian ARTMAP which is an artificial neural network model for the pattern classification. We hierarchically constructed the Gaussian ARTMAP and proposed the Principal Component Emphasis(P.C.E) method to be learned different features in each levels. And we defined new metric based on the P.C.E. P.C.E is a method that discards dimensions whose variation are small, that represents common attributes in the class. And remains dimensions whose variation are large. In the learning process, if input pattern is misclassified, P.C.E are performed and the modified pattern is learned in sub network. Experimental results indicate that Hierarchical Gaussian ARTMAP yield better classification result than the other pattern recognition algorithms on variable data set including real applicable problem.

This paper introduces waiting time based periodic packet discard policy for frame based scheduler. This policy can be used with conventional packet discard policy or buffer management schemes, such as drop-tail or random early detection. Proposed discard policy discards packets, which are stayed in the buffer longer than threshold, at every period of scheduling. This decision of discard is based on waiting time of packet. In this paper, mathematical analysis is performed with situation of network congestion. Also, the simulation is performed to evaluate the performance of proposed discard policy. In the result, proposed discard policy can limit queuing delay by threshold. Also, if the packet discard is performed before scheduling and threshold is set with smaller value than frame length, it can limit the throughput of traffic.

Accountable Internet Protocol (AIP) is one of the future Internet architectures to provide accountability concept by using the self-certifying address that is derived by the public key of the host. In AIP, when a host sends a packet, a domain that is located between the source and the destination hosts discards the packet in order to verify the source IP address. Therefore, performance degradation can occur due to packet discard especially when there is asymmetric route. In this paper, we propose the improved AIP mechanism to verify the source IP address without discarding the packet by including the timestamp, public key value and the signature for protecting from forfeiting the source address. Security safety of the proposed mechanism is evaluated and the proposed mechanism can provide the more robust security as well as reducing the latency due to discarding packets.

Coastal fisheries in Korean waters have highly complexity with a variety of fishing gears, and scale of those fisheries is smaller than that of offshore fisheries. As a result, important spawning and nursery grounds for many species of fish has been destroyed. The pragmatic ecosystem-based approach was developed for the assessment of fisheries resources in Korean waters by Zhang et al. (2009; 2010). As for the species risk index (SRI), common squid caught by coastal gillnet in the Uljin region had the highest risk. As for the fisheries risk index (FRI), coastal gillnet in the Uljin coastal waters had the highest risk. For the common squid which had the highest SRI, resources management strategies must be established such as catch prohibition of length and period with TAC. For the coastal gillnet in the Uljin region which had the highest FRI, it is judged to need management plans for conserving biodiversity as reducing the catch of non-target species and discards. Also to protect existing habitat, illegal fishery should be prohibited, and fishing gears should be designed in the environmental-friendly way considering when fishing gears lost.

Cut-off sampling that discards a part of the population from the sampling frame, is a widely used method for a business survey. Usually, to the estimate of population total, an accurate estimate of the total of the take-nothing stratum is required. Many estimators have been developed to estimate the total of the take-nothing stratum. Recently Kim and Shin (2011) suggested a composite estimator and showed the superiority of that estimator. In this paper, we suggest an alternative composite estimator obtained by combining BLUP estimator and a ratio estimator obtained by the small samples from the take-nothing stratum. Small simulation studies are performed for a comparison of the estimators and we confirm that the new suggested estimator is superior.
Video delivery from a server to a client across a network system is an important part of many multimedia applications. Usually, the network system has constraint in both the amount of network bandwidth and the buffer size in the client. While delivering a video stream across such a constrained network system, loss of frames may be unavoidable. The system resources consumed by the dropped frames are wasted, and the losses of frames would result in discontinuous display at the client. In this paper, for delivering hierarchically encoded video stream, we introduce the notion of selective layer discard algorithm at the server which not only preemptively discards data at the server but also drops less important part of a frame instead of the entire frame. By the simulation, we compare the proposed selective layer discard algorithm and the existing selective frame discard algorithm. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm may improve the quality of decoded video, and decrease the replay discontinuity at the client.
DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack is a critical threat to current Internet. To solve the detection and response of DDoS attack on BcN, we have investigated detection algorithms of DDoS and Implemented anomaly detection modules. Recently too many technologies of the detection and prevention have developed, but it is difficult that the IDS distinguishes normal traffic from the DDoS attack Therefore, when the DDoS attack is detected by the IDS, the firewall just discards all over-bounded traffic for a victim or absolutely decreases the threshold of the router. That is just only a method for preventing the DDoS attack. This paper proposed the mechanism of response for the legitimated clients to be protected Then, we have designed and implemented the statistic based system that has the automated detection and response functionality against DDoS on Linux Zebra router environment.

To prevent the performance degradation of TCP due to packet loss in the smooth handoff by the route optimization extension of Mobile If protocol, a buffering of packets at a base station is needed. A buffering of packets at a base station recovers the packets dropped during the handoff by forwarding the buffered packets at the old base station to the mobile user. But, when the mobile user moves to a new foreign network which is connected to a congested router, the buffered packets forwarded by the old base station are dropped and the link utilization performance degraded due to increased congestion by the forwarded packets. In this paper, when the mobile user moves to a new foreign network which is connected to a congested router, Ive propose a packet forwarding control scheme required far the old base station to improve TCP performance in mobile networks. The old base station forwards or discards the buffered packets during handoff by proposed packet forwarding control scheme based on congestion states of RED(Random Early Detection) at the congested router. Simulation results slow that link utilization performance can be improved by applying proposed packet forwarding control scheme.
Putnam develops SLIM (Software LIfecycle Management) model based upon the assumption that the manpower utilization during software project development is followed by a Rayleigh distribution. To obtain the manpower distribution, we have to be estimate the total development effort and difficulty ratio parameter. We need a way to accurately estimate these parameters early in the requirements and specification phase before investment decisions have to be made. Statistical tests show that system attributes are highly correlation (redundant) so that Putnam discards one and get a parameter estimator from the other attributes. But, different statistical method has different system attributes and presents different performance. To select the principle system attributes, this paper uses the principle component analysis (PCA) instead of Putnam's method. The PCA's results improve a 9.85 percent performance more than the Putnam's result. Also, this model seems to be simple and easily realize.

Due to the advance of WLAN technology, the use of the multimedia service such as the video streaming service has been increased in the home network. However, we need to study the method which decreases the transmission delay and the frame loss rate to provide QoS of the video streaming service. Therefore, this paper proposes an active buffer management mechanism to guarantee QoS of the streaming service in IEEE 802.11e EDCA. The proposed protocol discards the frame in the HoL of the buffer based on the importance of each frame and the virtual transmission delay of frame newly arriving at the buffer. In the simulation results, the proposed algorithm not only decreases the frame loss probability of important I and P frames but also stabilizes the transmission delay. It may increase the QoS of video streaming services.
