  • The construction work to establish a safety management plan should be carried out Design for Safety(DFS) task by the designers from May 2016 according to the amendment of the Construction Technology Promotion Act. However, designers lack experience in construction work and lack of information on safety accidents, so it is not easy to predict a disaster that may occur during the construction phase. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to provide information about disasters that can occur in each construction work in order to enable designers to efficiently perform DFS task in the design phase. In this study, the construction work was classified by work unit and the disaster risk assessment was conducted using the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis technique. The disaster information by work unit analyzed in this study can be used to provide designers with an alternative to prevent disasters at the design stage. Disaster information by work unit of apartment construction can be used by designers to prepare an alternative for disaster prevention at the design stage.

  • In this study, a method for an integrated flood risk mapping was proposed that simultaneously considers the flood inundation map indicating the degree of risk and the disaster vulnerability index. This method creates a new disaster map that can be used in actual situations by providing various and specific information on a single map. In order to consider the human, social and economic factors in the disaster map, the study area was divided into exposure, vulnerability, responsiveness, and recovery factors. Then, 7 indicators for each factor were extracted using the GIS tool. The data extracted by each indicator was classified into grades 1 to 5, and the data was selected as a disaster vulnerability index and used for integrated risk mapping by factor. The risk map for each factor, which overlaps the flood inundatoin map and the disaster vulnerability index factor, was used to establish an evacuation plan by considering regional conditions including population, assets, and buildings. In addition, an integrated risk analysis method that considers risks while converting to a single vulnerability through standardization of the disaster vulnerability index was proposed. This is expected to contribute to the establishment of preparedness, response and recovery plans for providing detailed and diverse information that simultaneously considers the flood risk including social, humanistic, and economic factors.

  • Purpose: Traditional markets often have irregular space utilization patterns because the spaces are created and divided as time passed. Internally, there is high risk of fire due to problems such as aging facilities and high-density of stores and externally, there is high risk of fire spread since it is often adjacent to deteriorated residential and commercial facilities. Method: In this paper, on-site investigations were carried out to check fire risk factors and fire spread risk, and fire occurrence and expansion risk factors were investigated for traditional markets in Hwanghak-dong and Dong-daemun by using large-scale fire data from existing traditional markets. Result: As a result of the analysis, there are likely to be various problems such as high fire load and lack of safety awareness due to aging facilities and high-density of stores. In particular, it is necessary to prepare countermeasures because deteriorated residential facilities with narrow alleys around traditional markets have high fire spread. It is situation that while traditional markets mainly are managing for fire and disaster centering on the merchant association, the surrounding residential areas are not properly managed. Conclusion: It is necessary to manage deteriorated residential facilities with traditional markets, also to be linked early warning system and information to evacuate rapidly in case of fire there.

  • Accidents in the construction industry are very high compared to other industries, and the number is also increasing steeply every year. Relevant studies were limited for solving the problems. The purpose of this study is to develop a comprehensive risk prediction process for personnel deployed at construction sites on safety management. First of all, the variables were divided into fixed, real-time and working types variables, and the relevant comprehensive data were collected. Second, the probability of a disaster was derived based on the collected data, and weights for each variable were calculated using the dummy regression analysis method using statistical methodology. Lastly, the resulting weighting and disaster probability equation was constructed, and The Final Risk Calculation Formula was developed. The Final Risk Calculation Formula presented in this study is expected to have a significant impact on the establishment of effective safety management measures to prevent possible safety accidents at construction sites
