Image Analysis for the Simultaneous Measurement of Underwater Flow Velocity and Direction (수중 유속 및 유향의 동시 측정을 위한 이미지 분석 기술에 관한 연구)

  • To measure the flow velocity and direction in the near field of an unmanned underwater vehicle, an optical measurement unit containing an image sensor and a phosphor-integrated pillar that mimics the neuromasts of a fish was constructed. To analyze pillar movement, which changes with fluid flow, fluorescence image analysis was conducted. To analyze the flow velocity, mean force analysis, which could determine the relationship between the light intensity of a fluorescence image and an external force, and length-force analysis, which could determine the distance between the center points of two fluorescence images, were employed. Additionally, angle analysis that can determine the angles at which pixels of a digital image change was selected to analyze the direction of fluid flow. The flow velocity analysis results showed a high correlation of 0.977 between the external force and the light intensity of the fluorescence image, and in the case of direction analysis, omnidirectional movement could be analyzed. Through this study, we confirmed the effectiveness of optical flow sensors equipped with phosphor-integrated pillars.

  • A laser Doppler vibrometer based on the laser heterodyne interferometry is employed to measure the vibration velocity of vibrating objects. In this paper, we propose a real time analog signal processor of a laser Doppler vibrometer to reduce the degradation of Doppler signals mainly caused by environmental noises. In the proposed real time signal processor of an laser Doppler vibrometer, a pre-processor and a logical motion direction detector are designed to reduce the detection errors of the object motion direction. Also, a noise detection and rejection circuit is designed to reject the unfiltered noises.

  • In this paper, we propose that the calculation method for accurate wind speed using interpolation methods, and the finding method for accurate wind direction using interpolation polynomial, so we make better performance for 3-Cup Anemometer by the proposed methods. We embody the 3-Cup Anemometer with photo sensor to measure wind direction and wind speed. In order to more accurate wind speed and wind direction, we present the methods to overcome the limitations of system memory and of the sensor measurement error by 8 bit gray code (as substitute 360 degrees for 256 degrees data).

  • In this paper, we propose a method for estimating a walking direction by which a mobile robots follows a person using TRT (Tensor RT) pose, which is motion recognition based on deep learning. Mobile robots can measure individual movements by recognizing key points on the person's pelvis and determine the direction in which the person tries to move. Using these information and the distance between robot and human, the mobile robot can follow the person stably keeping a safe distance from people. The TRT Pose only extracts key point information to prevent privacy issues while a camera in the mobile robot records video. To validate the proposed technology, experiment is carried out successfully where human walks away or toward the mobile robot in zigzag form and the robot continuously follows human with prescribed distance.

  • This paper presents an overview analysis on the observed wind shear at Pohang Steel Works, focusing on diurnal patterns and the frequency of high nighttime shear at the site in case of land breeze. In addition, this paper discusses the importance of accurate shear estimates for reliable evaluation of wind energy density. In order for a long-term correlation of the site, three Measure-Correlate-Predict methods were tested with Pohang wind data and it was shown that the linear MCP gives poor estimation due to the geographic characteristics of complex terrain where the severe transformation of wind direction was accompanied.

Effect is expected in enterprise that these proposals do quality control.   • The air-fuel ratio of an internal combustion engine must be controlled with accuracy for the improvements of exhaust emission and fuel consumption. Therefore, it is necessary to measure the exact instantaneous amounts of fuel and suction air, so we carried out the experiments for measuring the air flow velocity in a suction pipe of an internal combustion engine using three types of instantaneous air flowmeter. The results obtained can be summarized as follows: (1) The laminar-flow type flowmeter is able to measure both the average and the instantaneous flow rate, but it is necessary to rectify the pulsating air flow in the suction pipe. (2) The a spark-discharge type flow velocity meter is able to measure the instantaneous air velocity, but it is necessary to choose the suitable electrode form and the spark character. (3) The tandem-type hot-wire flow velocity meter indicates the instantaneous flow velocity and its flow direction.

  • In these days the installation of wind turbines or wind parks includes a high financial risk. So for the planning and the constructing of wind farms, long-term data of wind speed and wind direction is required. However, in most cases only few data are available at the designated places. Traditional Measure-Correlate-Predict (MCP) can extend this data by using data of nearby meteorological stations. But also Neural Networks can create such long-term predictions. The key issue of this paper is to demonstrate the possibility and the quality of predictions using Neural Networks. Thereto this paper compares the results of different MCP Models and Neural Networks for creating long-term data with various indexes.
