Vector Calibration for Geomagnetic Field Based Indoor Localization (지자기 기반 실내 위치 추정을 위한 지자기 벡터 보정법)

  • Magnetic sensors have the disadvantage that their vector values differ depending on the direction. In this paper, we propose a magnetic vector calibration method for geomagnetic-based indoor localization estimates. The fingerprinting technique used in geomagnetic-based indoor localization the position by matching the magnetic field map and the magnetic sensor value. However, since the moving direction of the current user may be different from the moving direction of the person who creates the magnetic field map at the collection time, the sampled magnetic vector may have different values from the vector values recorded in the field map. This may substantially lower the positioning accuracy. To avoid this problem, the existing studies use only the magnitude of magnetic vector, but this reduces the uniqueness of the fingerprint, which may also degrade the positioning accuracy. In this paper we propose a vector calibration algorithm which can adjust the sampled magnetic vector values to the vector direction of the magnetic field map by using the parametric equation of a circle. This can minimize the inaccuracy caused by the direction mismatch.

Evaluation of the Usefulness of MapPHAN for the Verification of Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy Planning (용적세기조절회전치료 치료계획 확인에 사용되는 MapPHAN의 유용성 평가)

  • Purpose: Latest linear accelerator and the introduction of new measurement equipment to the agency that the introduction of this equipment in the future, by analyzing the process of confirming the usefulness of the preparation process for applying it in the clinical causes some problems, should be helpful.   • In this paper, we proposed indoor positioning system with improved accuracy. The proposed indoor location measurement system is based pedestrian location measurement method that use the embedded sensor of smartphone. So, we do not need wireless external resources, such as GPS or WiFi signals. The conventional methods measure indoor location by generating a movement route of pedestrian by step and direction recognition. In this paper, to correct the direction sensor error, we use the common feature of the normal indoor floor map that the indoor path is lattice-structured. And we quantize moving directions depending on the direction of indoor path. In addition, we propose moving direction measuring method using geomagnetic sensor and gyro sensor to improve the accuracy. Also, the proposed step detection method uses angle and accelerometer sensors. The proposed step detection method is not affected by the posture of the smartphone. Direction errors caused by direction sensor error is corrected due to proposed moving direction measuring method. The proposed location error correction method corrects location error caused by step detection error without the need for external wireless signal resources.

  • The difference between definition time of GPS (Global Positioning System) position data and actual display time of car positions on a map could reduce the accuracy of car positions displayed in PND (Portable Navigation Device)-type CNS (Car Navigation System). Due to the time difference, the position of the car displayed on the map is not its current position, so an improved method to fix these problems is required. It is expected that a method that uses predicted future positionsto compensate for the delay caused by processing and display of the received GPS signals could mitigate these problems. Therefore, in this study an analysis was conducted to correct late processing problems of map positions by mapmatching using a Kalman filter with only GPS position data and a RRF (Road Reduction Filter) technique in a light-weight CNS. The effects on routing services are examined by analyzing differences that are decomposed into along and across the road elements relative to the direction of advancing car. The results indicate that it is possible to improve the positional accuracy in the along-the-road direction of a light-weight CNS device that uses only GPS position data, by applying a Kalman filter and RRF.

Deep Learning-based Gaze Direction Vector Estimation Network Integrated with Eye Landmark Localization (딥 러닝 기반의 눈 랜드마크 위치 검출이 통합된 시선 방향 벡터 추정 네트워크)

  • In this paper, we propose a gaze estimation network in which eye landmark position detection and gaze direction vector estimation are integrated into one deep learning network. The proposed network uses the Stacked Hourglass Network as a backbone structure and is largely composed of three parts: a landmark detector, a feature map extractor, and a gaze direction estimator. The landmark detector estimates the coordinates of 50 eye landmarks, and the feature map extractor generates a feature map of the eye image for estimating the gaze direction. And the gaze direction estimator estimates the final gaze direction vector by combining each output result. The proposed network was trained using virtual synthetic eye images and landmark coordinate data generated through the UnityEyes dataset, and the MPIIGaze dataset consisting of real human eye images was used for performance evaluation. Through the experiment, the gaze estimation error showed a performance of 3.9, and the estimation speed of the network was 42 FPS (Frames per second).

  • The Z-map model which is quite similar to the non-parametric patch is widely used to describe the shape of a surface because of its simplicity. Despite the inherent advantage of z-map model. it has drawbacks that there exists difficulty in expressing the vertical walls and its related contact treatment method. In the region of vertical walls, there is a convergence problem in searching the contact point. In this study a contact point finding scheme is presented, based on the z value of the z-map model on the sheet normal direction. To show the utility of this scheme a compared with the experimental results. The effects of the Z-map grid distances and the interpolations of the inside Z-map value are also discussed.

  • A unique approach to access Landsat satellite imagery has been implemented on IBM PC microcomputer in order to generate image maps to be used as a substitute and/or supplement for a conventional topographic map. This method enables user to automatically: o extract a nominal image map, o geoencode or calibrate as an image map, and o create a multitemporal image file using CCTs containing precision processed Landsat MSS and TM images. These map extraction process includes: o location of map area in the selected CCT, o conversion of map coordinates to image coordinates, o extraction of map area, and o rotation of image to the true North/South and East/Weat direction.

  • Feed drive systems are used to position the machine tool components carrying the cutting tool and workpiece to the desired location. Hence, their positioning accuracy and speed determine the quality and productivity of machine tools. In this paper, technical trend of machine tools feed drive systems are analyzed by patent mapping. And this paper suggested future development direction of feed drive systems. The analysis is carried out by using problem solution map (PSM) for the applied patent during January 2000 and December 2009 in Korea, Japan, EU and U.S.A.

  • Automatic tool changer(ATC) is typically provided to a machine tool to improve the efficiency of the machine tool significantly by saving time in moving, switching, installing and storing tools as well as adjusting a calibrating the machine tool. In this study, technical trend of machine tools automatic tool changer are analyzed by patent mapping. And future development direction of automatic tool changer has suggested. The analysis is carried out by using problem solution map for the applied patent during 2000 and 2010 in USA, Japan, Europe and Korea.

  • Observations of extreme wind speeds in the United Kingdom from 1970 to 1980, corrected for the influence of upwind ground roughness and topography, have been analysed using the recently-developed "Improved Method of Independent Storms" (IMIS). The results have been used to compile two new maps of base wind speed and to confirm the climatic factors in current use. One map is 'irrespective' of wind direction and the other is 'equally weighted' by direction. The 'equally weighted' map is expected to be more consistently reliable and appropriate for use with the climatic factors for the design of buildings and structures.
