  • In this paper, wind power system with direct-driven axial-flux type permanent-magnet (PM) synchronous generator, 10 [kVA], 300 [rpm], is presented. In order to analyze the performance of axial PM generator, finite-element (FE) analysis is used, and the 2-dimensional equivalent model is developed. The steady-state and transient-state characteristics are respectively analyzed at no-load and resistive-inductive loads. The test results of driving characteristics are presented as well. The results are very similar to predicted performance of design. Proposed generator is feasible for use with a small-class wind power applications.

In-wheel Motor Design for an Electric Scooter

  • The aim of this paper is to provide an optimal design of in-wheel motor for an electric scooter (E-scooter) considering economical production. The preliminary development in-wheel motor, which has a direct-driven outer rotor type attached to the E-scooter's rear wheel without any gear, is introduced first. The objective of the optimal design of this in-wheel motor is to improve the output characteristics of the motor and to have a stator form to facilitate automatic winding. Response surface methodology was used for the optimal design and 2-dimensional finite element method was used for electro-magnetic field analysis. Experimental results showed that the designed and fabricated in-wheel motor could satisfy the required specifications in terms of speed, power, efficiency, and cogging torque.

바이오디젤유를 사용한 직접분사식 디젤엔진의 출력성능 및 배출가스 특성 (Power and Emission Characteristics of DI Diesel Engine with a Soybean Bio-diesel Fuel)

  • This paper describes the power performance and emission characteristics of the high speed direct injection diesel engine (2.9 litter displacements) driven by soybean oil asknown a bio diesel fuel. The results were compared to diesel fuel with blending bio diesel fuels. The soybean bio diesel fuel was added in the diesel fuel in concentration varying from 25% to 75% volume rates. We measured the emissions according to ECE 13 mode and full load, fixedengine speed. When the 25% bio diesel fuel was used, NOx emission at the ECE 13 mode test slightly decreased compared with diesel base engine. Over engine speed of 2000 rpm, the level of unburned hydrocarbon(HC) and carbon monoxide(CO) were the same to the diesel engine. Smoke emission decreased asthe blending bio diesel fuel rate increased.

  • Wind power system attracts most interest because of high-energy efficiency with environment-friendly. Small scale wind power applications requires a cost effective and mechanically simple generator in order to be a reliable energy source. The use of direct driven generators, instead of geared machines, reduces the number of drive components, which offers the opportunity to reduce costs and increases system reliability and efficiency.   • Chemotaxis is the directed movement of cells in gradients of signaling molecules, an essential biological process that underlies morhpogenesis during development, and the recruitment of immune cells to sites of infection. Especially, bacterial chemotaxis has utilized as an important prelude to study metabolism, prey-predator relationship, symbiosis, other ecological interactions in microbial communities. Recently, novel analytical formats integrated with microfluidics were introduced to investigate the chemotaxis of the cells with the precise control of chemical gradient and small volume of cells. In this study, we present a method to detect bacterial chemotaxis by direct fluidic contacting. The developed fluidic-handling method is driven by capillary force, hydrophobic barrier and a cohesion force between fluids. We have investigated the chemotactic response of E Coli. and Pseudomonas aeruginosa to three kinds of chemoeffectors such as HEPES buffer, peptone and chloroform.

PID 제어기의 주파수응답 기반 다목적 설계도구 (Frequency Response Based Multi-Objective Design Toolbox for PID Controller)

  • Recently, a direct data-driven synthesis of a proportional integral derivative(PID) controller for a linear time-invariant(LTI) plant was presented in [1]. The authors showed that a complete set of PID controllers achieving robust performance and stability can be calculated directly from frequency response(FR) data without an identified transfer function model. However, it is not convenient to use this method because it requires complicated numerical algorithms to find specific frequencies which are solutions of an identical equation. The method also requires determination of the boundary of the controller's parameters from a finite set of FR data. In this paper, we present the development of a user-friendly Matlab toolbox based on the method in [1]. This toolbox allows us to obtain a complete three-dimensional(3-D) graphical solution of PID controllers that meet multiple design objectives. Several examples are given to demonstrate the use of the toolbox.

  • The result of examination of diagnostic method, which is composed of a combination of a thermal camera and a drone that visually shows the temperature of the object by detecting the infrared rays, for detecting the leakage of earth dam was driven in this research. The drone infrared thermography method was suggested to precise safety diagnosis through direct comparing the two method results of electrical resistivity survey and thermal image survey. The important advantage of the thermal leakage detection method was the simplicity of the application, the quickness of the results, and the effectiveness of the work in combination with the existing diagnosis method.

  • 단상 벅-부스트 DC-AC 인버터는 2개의 DC-DC 컨버터로 이루어져 있다. 두 컨버터는 $180[^{\circ}]$의 위상차를 가지는 DC 바이어스된 정현파 기준 전압에 의해 구동된다. 교류로 출력되는 인버터의 최대값은 직류 입력전압 크기에 제약을 받지 않아 입력 직류전원보다 높은 교류 출력전압을 만들 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 벅-부스트 DC-AC인버터를 설계하고, 프로토타입을 제작하여 실험한다. 전압과 전류 제어기는 마이크로컨트롤러를 이용한 디지털 제어기로 구현된다.

  • 컴퓨터의 급속한 보급과 인터넷을 기반으로 웹 서비스가 날로 향상되고 있으며, 웹을 활용한 사이버학습은 웹의 등장과 함께 인터넷의 가장 중요한 교수도구로 자리잡고 일다. 본 연구에서는 수리영역의 특성 학습과 웹에서 구축된 서버와 클라이언트 환경을 통하여 학습 부진아의 학업 성취도를 높이기 위하여 사이버 학습 시스템을 설계 및 구현하였으며, 학습자가 웹 데이터베이스 시스템 환경과 멀티미디어를 활용하여 추상적인 개념보다 직접 참여하는 학습이 되도록 하였다.

A POINT COLLOCATION SCHEME FOR THE STATIONARY INCOMPRESSIBLE NAVIER-STOKES EQUATIONS

  • An efficient and stable point collocation scheme based on a meshfree method is studied for the stationary incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. We describe the diffuse derivatives associated with the moving least square method. Using these diffuse derivatives, we propose a point collocation method to fit in solving the Navier-Stokes equations which improves the stability of the direct point collocation scheme. The convergence of the numerical solution is investigated from numerical examples. The driven cavity ow and the backward facing step ow are implemented for the reliability of the scheme. Also, the viscous ow on complicated geometry is successfully calculated such as the ow past a circular cylinder in duct.
