Recent Study of Thermal Spray for Green Automotive Industry (친환경 자동차산업의 용사(Thermal spray)에 대한 최신 연구동향)

  • Recent developing tendency of thermal spray for green automotive industry are studied by searching of NDSL, KIPRIS, ScienceDirect and so on. Spraying techniques such as plasma spray, microwave treatment, dry-ice blasting, HVOF thermal spray, cold spraying, aerosol deposition are introduced, further more spraying materials such as nano particles, intermetallic compound, TiAlN, TiC, Si-Al alloys are investigated.

Characterizations of Two-step Matrix Application Procedures for Imaging Mass Spectrometry

  • In this paper, I describe the importance of matrix spraying conditions in imaging mass spectrometry (IMS) to obtain successful imaging results. My developed matrix application methodology, which is a "two-step matrix application" sequentially combined with matrix sublimation and spraying matrix solution can provide high reproducibility and high ion yield compared with a conventional direct spraying method. However, insufficient IMS results were obtained occasionally despite the two-step method. Therefore, I wanted to characterize the methodology to continuously provide high quality data. According to my results, the sublimation time was not a strict parameter, and the most important step was the first spraying condition. This means that the extraction conditions from the tissue section and co-crystallization of the matrix were the most important factors.

  • An experimental study on the catalytic reformer adopted in the auxiliary power unit system of solid oxide fuel cell was conducted. A 3-fluid nozzle, by which liquid fuel such as diesel, water and air are sprayed and uniformed mixed, was designed and used in this study. An electrically heated monolith inserted in the reformer was used for the vaporization of fuel and water in the transient state of reformer. The reformer uses the partial oxidizing reaction at the catalyst and the supply of water prevents the flame combustion in the spraying zone and lessens the deactivation of catalyst. The result showed that the reforming of liquid fuel can be started by the electrically heated monolith and the 3-fluid nozzle can give the uniform mixing of fuel, water and air. It was also found that the reformer fueled by n-hexadecane can make the reformate, at best, containing $H_2$ at 15.5% and CO at 11.5% that are used as fuel in the solid oxide fuel cell.

Studies on Application of Spray of Nano-fibrillated Cellulose to Papermaking Process (분무방식에 의한 NFC(Nano-Fibrillated Cellulose)의 제지공정 적용 방안 탐색 연구)

  • In recent years, it had focused on the improvement of paper properties by addition of NFC (Nano-fibrillated Cellulose). Although the addition of NFC to wet-end of papermaking process could be suggested as a new solution to improve the strength properties of paper, it was not possible to avoid the bad drainage caused by the added NFC's chocking pores of wet web. Instead of the direct addition to wet-end, spraying of NFC to web in wire-section was tried in this study and evaluated by checking various paper properties including surface smoothness, tensile strength, folding endurance and stiffness. According to the increase of spraying amount of NFC, above mentioned paper properties were enhanced without excessive deterioration of drainage. Compared with direct introduction to wet-end, spraying could be regarded as a more proper method to enhance the surface smoothness and strength properties of paper.

  • Flame aerosol synthesis technology refers to the formation of fine particles from gases in flame and is widely used in practical materials processing. In this paper, an experimental investigation was performed on growth of the silica particles that were generated in $H_2/O_2$ Diffusion Flame by the direct injection or TEOS using Electro-spraying method. in this flame aerosol synthesis, four main parameters or nos interaction (flame temperature, residence time or particle in flame, TEOS flow rate, applied voltage) for particle generation and growth was investigated along the axial direction above the burner. A fairly monodisperse non-aggregated particles were successfully obtained.

  • A traditional notion of composites has been composed as a uniform dispersoid, but now it is proposed without regard to such rule with process development. Functionally Graded Material(FGM) consists of a new material design that is to make intentionally irregular dispersion state. In this study, thermal stress analysis of plasma spraying PSZ/NiCrAlY gradient material was conducted theoretically using a finite-element program. A formations of the model are direct bonding material(NFGM) and FGM with PSZ and NiCrAlY component element. The temperature conditions were $700^{\circ}C$ to 1100.deg. C assuming a cooling-down precess up to room temperature. Fracture damage mechanism was analyzed by the parameters of residual stress.

  • The multi function sprayed coating is used for direct-heating, wear resistance and high bonding strength. The merits of surface direct-heating coatings are short warming time, low power consumption and better wear resistance that can be used in many organization parts. In this study, the surface direct-heating and wear resistance can be improved by spraying the proper materials on the surface $Al_2$O$_3$40%TiO$_2$ powder and Ni-20%Cr powder that had the properties of conduction and high wear resistivity are used in order to improve wear resistance, electrical properties and bonding strength.

Enhancement of Biological Control of Botrytis cinerea on Cucumber by Foliar Sprays and Bed Potting Mixes of Trichoderma harzianum YC459 and Its Application on Tomato in the Greenhouse

  • Trichoderma harzianum YC459 (Th 459), isolated from sawdust compost, was effective in controlling cucumber and tomato gray mold caused by Botrytis cinerea under controlled and plastic film tunnel conditions. A water suspension of the wettable powder formulation of Th 459 significantly $(P\leq0.05)$ reduced the severity of cucumber gray mold by foliar spraying at all tested concentrations from $10^5\;to\;10^8$ colony forming unit (cfu)/ml in repeated experiments. The control efficacy was maintained at least seven days with the average control value of 70% in cucumber pot tests. Mixing one to eight grams of the granular formulation ($10^8cfu/g$ dry weight) of Th 459 into one liter nursery potting mix at seeding also significantly $(P\leq0.05)$ reduced the severity of cucumber gray mold by suppression of lesion formation three weeks after treatment. Application of mixing granular formulation at seeding in combination with foliar spraying during cultivation provided a more significant reduction $(P\leq0.05)$ of cucumber gray mold than granule mixing or leaf spray alone. The foliar spraying of the formulated wettable powder of Th 459 significantly $(P\leq0.05)$ reduced the infection of tomato fruits by B. cinerea as effective as the chemical fungicide, dichlofluanid, in three plastic film tunnel experiment trials. It is suggested that effective control of gray mold of cucumber and tomato can be provided by both treatment of Th 459 into potting mix and foliar spray through induction of systemic resistance and direct inhibition of the pathogen.
