Microwave Absorption of Ferrite Powders by Wet-Direct Synthesis (습식직접합성 Ferrite 분말의 전파흡수능)

  • There is a growing demend for absorptive electromagentic shielding materials for wide band frequency application. In this study, the absorber which consists of a rubber plus Ni-Zn ferrite which have been prepared by direct-wet method. A rubber ferrite composite for electromagnetic shielding, it is most importan facter the homogeneous ultra fine size and high dispersitive ferrite powder. Direct-wet method and solid-solid reaction method for preparing of ultra fine ferrite powder was used. It has been experimentally verified that the powder which prepared by direct-wet method was very fine and almost same size spherical powder, the composite ferrite have excellent electromagnetic wave absorption in X-band.

Direct Observation of an Antihomoaromatic Bicyclooctadienyl Cation

  • The question of the bicyclohomoaromatic stabilization and destabilization is examined. The chemistry of bicyclo(3.2.1)octa-3,6-dienide anion has been studied on order to test these concepts. The bicyclooctadienide anion is shown to be stable delocalized ion which undergoes a facile proton-deuterium exchange reaction. The solvolysis of bicyclo(3.2.1)octa-3,6-dienyl p-nitrobenzoate is much slower than the monoene analog. We have made direct observation of the bicyclooctadienyl and octenyl cations by $^{19}F$-nmr spectroscopy, and were able to demonstrate that the bicyclooctadienyl cation was bishomoantiaromatic.

  • A series of trisilaalkanes has been prepared in high yields by the direct reaction of ${\alpha}$ -chloromethylsilanes with metallic silicon in the presence of copper catalyst using the stirred reactor equipped with a spiral band agitator at the carefully controlled temperature between $280^{\circ}C$ and $340^{\circ}C.$ Disilaalkane compounds were obtained as the minor products. Cadmium was found to be a good promotor for the reactions, while zinc was an inhibitor.

  • Fluoro-phlogopite crystals (Mica) were synthesized by two different methods; firstly the crystal was crystallized from the melts, and secondly mica crystalline was obtained from the direct solid state reaction. Addition of $CaF_2$ in the mica batch revealed the lowering the solid state reaction temperature. SEM and XRD were employed to observe mica crystalline flakes and solid solution forms. As a starting raw material Pyrophyllite was used resulting in the formation of mica crystals.

  • In this paper, various operating parameters of stream reforming process from methane in preconverter for MCFC is studied by numerical method. Commercial code is used to simulated the porous catalyst with user subroutine to model three dominant chemical reactions which are Stream Reforming(SR), Water-Gas Shift(WGS), and Direct Stram Reforming(DSR). The hydrogen production is tested with different wall temperature, Gas Hourly Space Velocity(GHSV), and different reactor shapes.

  • AlN powder and whiskers were synthesized by direct nitridation of aluminum powder in pure nitrogen atmosphere. The nitridation reaction of aluminum powder was initiated by heating the sample to the ignition temperature and the reaction was finished in less than 3 minutes. AlN whisker-shaped morphology was observed predominantly when the sample was heated above 90$0^{\circ}C$.

  • Halongen exchange reactions of phenylethyl bromides have been studied in acetone at 25$^{\circ}$and 35$^{\circ}C$. Results show that the reaction proceeds by a typical S$_{N}$2 path, and steric crowding effect in 1-phenylethyl bromide gives large variation in the activation parameters for chloride exchange.

  • A survey over the role of sol-gel processing and metal alkoxides in the thin film preparation is given. The basic chemistry of the sol-gel process is complex due to the different reactivities of the network forming and the wide variety of reaction parameters. Despite the important progress in the investigations of the mechanisms of thin film formation, a direct relation of reaction parameters to functional oxide properties is still very difficult.

  • In order to compare the diagnostic value of Modified California Mastitis Test (MCMT), Modified Whiteside Test (MWT) and Resazurin Reduction Test (RRT) using the direct microscopic leucocyte count (DMLC) as standard, a total of 739 quarter milk samples were examined. The results obtained were as follows: 1. Of the 739 samples, 24.4% had positive DMLC value (over 500,000 leucocytes per mI.), 32.6% positive MCMT reaction, 34.9% positive RRT reaction and 39.9% positive MWT reaction. 2. The identical ratings of the three mastitis screening tests with DMLC values were 60.7% (MWT), 61. 8% (MCMT) and 72.1% (RRT). 3. The mean reaction values of the predicted mastitis screening tests were $1.09{\pm}0.01$ (MWT), $1.12{\pm}0.06$ (MCMT) and $1.25{\pm}0.40$ (RRT). The efficiency ratings of them were 34.8% (MWT), 49.3% (RRT) and 55.0% (MCMT) respectively.

  • In conventional metallothermic reduction(MR) for obtaining tantalum powder in batch-type operation, it is difficult to control morphology and location of deposits because the reaction occurs by direct physical contact between reductants and feed materials. On the other hand, a electronically mediated reaction(EMR) is capable to overcome these difficulties through the reaction by electron transfer and have a merit of continuous process. In this study an MR and EMR method has been applied to the production of a tantalum powder by sodium reduction of $K_2TaF_7$. As the reduction temperature increases, the particle size and yield of tantalum powder obtained by MR and EMR method is increased.
