  • Iron loss is a possible source of performance deterioration, especially for a torque regulation, in field oriented induction machine. In this paper, study on the model of an induction machine with iron losses, a flux estimation strategy, the design of direct and indirect field oriented controller, a precise torque regulation scheme and the determination of a core lost resistance are discussed. Simulation and experimental results are also included and show the effectiveness of the proposed analysis and the proposed control strategy.

  • Degenerative retinal diseases affect millions of people worldwide, which can lead to the loss of vision. However, therapeutic approaches that can reverse this process are limited. Recent efforts have allowed the possibility of the stem cell-based regeneration of retinal cells and repair of injured retinal tissues. Although the direct differentiation of pluripotent stem cells into terminally differentiated photoreceptor cells comprises one approach, a series of studies revealed the intrinsic regenerative potential of the retina using endogenous retinal stem cells. Muller glial cells, ciliary pigment epithelial cells, and retinal pigment epithelial cells are candidates for such retinal stem cells that can differentiate into multiple types of retinal cells and be integrated into injured or developing retina. In this review, we explore our current understanding of the cellular identity of these candidate retinal stem cells and their therapeutic potential for cell therapy against degenerative retinal diseases. • In conventional sinusoidal wave PWM control, torque oscillation is a problem on account of harmonic component. This paper deals with the choice of line-to-line voltage modulation method, which is effective in using DC(direct current) source voltage and in controlling harmonic oscillation, and the pattern to reduce swiching loss through 1/3 pause of switching interral. So, this paper deals with valid realization of harmonic component and high torque response on variable load by simulation and experiments to compensate occurring problems when line-to-line modulation are applied to PWM inverter.

  • Since the upper lip does not receive direct actinic radiation, only 5% of lip tumors develop in the upper lip, while the lower lip is the site of the remainder. Among the lower lip cancer, squamous cell carcinoma is the most common tumor, especially the vermillion border of lower lip is the most common site. The aims of reconstruction of the lip are both aesthetic effect and functional restoration and the ideal procedure must produce a aesthetically normal, not-tao-tight lip and a good sensation and muscle tone of the lip. We have a satisfactory reconstruction of a subtotal loss of lower lip after squamous cell carcinoma extirpation using Gillies fan flap and the case is presented with reviewing a many published reports.

  • This paper considers a procedure for the economic design of a cumulative score(CUSCORE) control chart and more sensitive than X-type control chart for small shift to control the mean of a process with a exponentially distributed quality characteristic. An expected loss - cost model as a function of design variables(sample size, sampling interval, scoring limit and decision limit) is derived. Direct search techniques are used to optimize the model subject to ARL in control. Numerical examples and sensitivity analysis of the model are presented. For selected values of situation parameters a comparison study with CUSUM charts is given. CUSCORE control charts compare favourably with CUSUM charts in cost for speedy production process. The proposed control chart can be directly applied for controlling the lifetime characteristics.

  • Currently, most logistics use containers. The construction of new port and high speed medium size container ship for the transportation of merchandise have become very important. The problem of ship stability is also important because of its direct influence on the loss of human life, ships, and merchandise. The stability of a container ship during its operation is not a large problem because it is well considered in the design process. However, the assessment of ship stability during container loading/unloading in port still depends on the expertise of experienced personnel. In this paper, a model based simulation system is introduced, which is able to assess ship stability during container loading/unloading, using ENVISION, a general purpose simulation system.

  • False-tripping of MCCB(Molded Case Circuit Breaker) and ELB(Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker), using to protect overload and ground-fault accidents in power system raise direct and indirect losses like as information loss, facilities damage, slipup of goods production in industry place. Cause of false-tipping of MCCB and ELB is various and cause analysis of false-tripping is mostly made up by inference because trip is not reappeared. This paper investigated and analyzed causes and influences of false-tripping of MCCB and ELB by making up a question to safety managers of two hundred and eighteen electrical facilities for private use. Also, the necessity of experimental study on the effect of harmonics on false-tipping of MCCB and ELB was presented.

  • Current environmental problems of rural area are connected to loss of rural functions which is food security as well as conservation of environment, balanced development of country and succession of traditional culture. To solve these problems, recent projects are focusing on social changes in rural area and conservation of rurality creating values of rural amenity resources. At this point, full implications of rurality which is the various aspects of rurality should be defined to be applied in direct plans to conserve the rurality. In this study, nine attributes of rurality are found as various meanings with adjectives included in image of rurality. For practical use of these adjectives of rurality attributes, we evaluate the list of rural amenity resources and suggested plans for conservation of rural amenity. These attributes can be used as an effective method for village plan which brings one of the attributes into relief.

  • This paper compares the performances of permanent-magnet synchronous (PMS) and permanent-magnet vernier (PMV) machines for low-speed and high-torque applications. For comparison with the PMS machines, we consider two types of the PMV machine. The first one has surface-mounted permanent magnets (PMs) on the rotor and the other has PMs inserted on both sides of the stator and rotor. The PMS and PMV machines are designed to meet the condition of equal output power per unit volume. We analyze the magnetic fields of the machines using a two-dimensional finite element analysis (FEA). We then compare their performances in terms of the generated torque characteristics, power factor, loss, and efficiency.
