  • In this paper, we proposed the miniaturized structure of the Log-Periodic Dipole Array(LPDA) antenna for PS-LTE(Pubic Safety-Long Term Evolution) service. The length of array dipole was shortened by adding a fractal tree element with iteration to the array dipole to miniaturize the LPDA antenna. As the result, the proposed LPDA antenna was reduced up to 25 %, compared a typical LPDA antenna. To validation of the proposed LPDA antenna specification, the proposed LPDA antenna is fabricated using aluminum with 1.5 mm thickness and performances are measured. Comparison between simulation result and experiment shows good agreement.

  • In this paper Dual Band Log-Periodic Dipole Antenna(DLPDA), which can be used at the Cellular/IMT-2000 band, is proposed. The proposed antenna is composed of 2 of Log-Periodic Dipole Antenna(LPDA) and parasitic elements. To investigate the reliability of the proposed antenna, DLPDA is designed at the cellular/IMT-2000 band and analyzed by using the method of moment, Numerical results are compared with measured results. It is shown that although the antenna length is 70 cm, its radiation characteristics satisfied the design goals of gain, VSWR and beamwidth at the Cellular/IMT-2000 band. From these results, the proposed DLPDA is confirmed as the dual band antenna which can be used at the cellular/IMT-2000 band.

  • In this paper, the design of 64 array antennas applied to RWP (Radar Wind Profiler) was described. The design point of the antenna is to ensure isolation between each element and to match the vertical / horizontal radiation pattern. To this end, a single element of the array antenna was proposed as a Bend dipole type, and through simulation, When sequentially sending 5 beams including vertical, the east/west/south/north direction was ±20°, and it was confirmed that no Grating Lobe occurred when steering the beam. The 64 array antenna proposed in this paper was designed with performance equal to or higher than that of overseas products, and was confirmed to be applicable to RWP.

  • A numerical method to predict responses of very large floating structures in wave is suggested using source-dipole distribution method. The deflection of the plate is calculated by the finite element method in terms of rigidity matrix of each node. The calculated results for a plate are compared with the experimental ones.

  • In this paper, the characteristics of a series-fed dipole pair antenna with an end-aligned strip pair director are studied. In the proposed SDP antenna, two strip dipole antennas with different lengths and a ground reflector are connected trough a coplanar stripline. The strip pair director placed above the second dipole element are two rectangular-shaped strips and is aligned at the ends of the two arms of the second dipole. The variations on the antenna performance for different lengths and widths of the director are analyzed, and optimal design parameters for the enhancement of the bandwidth are obtained. The optimized SDP antenna is fabricated on an FR4 substrate, and the experimental results show that the antenna has a frequency band of 1.65-2.95 GHz for a VSWR < 2, which shows enhanced bandwidth compared to the conventional SDP antenna.

  • Very Large Floating Structures have been planned for effective utilization of ocean space in recent years. The VLFS usually has a control tower to guide airplane securely. This paper present an effective method for calculating the wave induced hydroelastic responses of VLFS considering the effect of control tower-shapes. The source and dipole distribution method is used to calculate the hydrodynamic loads and equation of motion is derived by considering the static and dynamic coupling effects from different segments of the plate. The rigidity matrix for VLFS is formulated by finite element method using a plate theory. The calculated results for VLFS with a control tower are compared with those for VLFS without a control tower.

  • The length and the breadth or a very large floating airport are determined by airplane types and airport facilities. However, the depth affect not only the structural strength but also the functional requirement such as a possibility of taking off and landing. The optimization problem for determining the depth is to select a design so that the cost is minimized. In this paper, a general arrangement and a method to decide the depth are proposed. Strength, functional requirement, and possibility of occurrence of deck wetness and slamming are considered in order to determine the depth of structure. Hydrodynamic forces of the diffraction and radiatin problems are predicted by applying the source-dipole distribution method, and the structural responses are obtained by the finite element method.

  • A BEM is highly efficient method in the sense of economic computation. However, boundary integration is not easy for the complex and moving surface e.g. in a rotating blade. Thus, Kirchhoff surface is designed in an effort to overcome the difficulty resulting from complex boundary conditions. A Kirchhoff surface is a fictitious surface which envelopes acoustic sources of main concern. Acoustic sources may be distributed on each Kirchhoff surface element depending on its acoustic characteristics. In this study, an axial fan is assumed to have loading noise as a dominant source. Dipole sources can be computed based on the FW-H equation. Acoustic field is then computed by changing Kirchhoff surfaces on which near-field is implemented, to analyze the effect of Kirchhoff surface on it.

  • In this paper hydroelastic responses of a very large floating structure(VLFS) are studied theoretically. We have been developed the source and dipole distribution method and pressure distribution method to evaluate the hydrodynamic pressures. The problem of vertical structural responses due to waves are calculated by using finite element method(FEM) and modal expansion method of a free-free beam Hydroelastic responses of VLFS in waves are computed by four methods developed in this paper. As a result the theoretical results of motion responses show good agreements with experimental ones.
