  • In this paper, the dipole antenna that can control a beam steering were designed for attaching on LEO(Low Earth Orbit) small satellite. The proposed antenna was based on Yagi-Uda antenna. The parasitic element was proposed as a T-shape. Depending on the state of open or short at the end of a vertical element, we can choose a characteristic of the parasitic element with fixing a vertical element length of the parasitic element. Using this characteristic, we designed the director element and reflector element. The proposed antenna was designed to receive UHF 436.5 MHz. Antenna gain was chosen by link budget between one satellite and the other satellite or between the satellite and the ground station. By changing a vertical element length which is the largest variable that chooses an antenna characteristic, we confirmed that ${\lambda}/2$ length transformer has a result that improve 0.5 dB in comparison ${\lambda}/4$ length transformer from maximum gain direction. In production, we made an on/off switch composed of a diode, capacitor, and inductor control an open and short at the end of the parasitic element. As a result, the gain of antenna used in a link between one satellite and the other satellite had average 5.92 dBi. And the gain of antenna used in a link between the satellite and the ground station had average 0.99 dBi.

  • In this paper, we proposed a beam tilting microstrip patch array antenna for the reception of satellite signals by using low cost copper etched polyester films and foams. The configuration and coupling mechanism of the proposed antenna are similar to the dipole Yagi-Uda antenna. It is composed of 3 layers of polyester films and three layers of foam. In order to prevent unwanted radiation and coupling loss by microstrip feeding networks and parasitic patches, a stacked layer with rectangular slots above the driver patch array is inserted. The 16${\times}$8 element microstrip Patch way antenna is Presented by experimental results. Its beam patterns are affected by many parameters such as sizes of the patches, gap between the patches. characteristics of the substrates, feeding method, etc. Owing to its complexities of various design parameters, both simulation and experiment were performed. The fabricated antenna received DBS signal from KOREASAT 3 by doing nothing but adjusting azimuth direction.

  • Steady flow of an ER (electro-rheological) fluid in a two-dimensional electrode channel is studied by using FEM. Hydrodynamic interactions between the particles and the fluid are calculated by solving the Navier-Stokes equation combined with the equation of motion for each particle, where the multi-body electrostatic interaction is described by using point-dipole model. Motion of the particles in the ER fluid is elucidated in conjunction with the mechanisms of the flow resistance and the increase of viscosity. The ER effects have been studied by varying the Mason number and volume fraction of particles. These parameters have an influence on the formation of the chains resulting in the changes of the fluid velocity and the effective viscosity of ER fluids.

  • In this study, the insertion losses of various track-side railway noise barriers are analyzed by using a two-dimensional numerical boundary element method(BEM). The BEM is implemented using two out-of-phase monopole sources for each track to represent dipole source. All model for this study is based on actual size built in Test Line of KTX. And the results suggest that vertical absorptive barrier provide as effective screening as rigid barrier which is more 0.4 m than the height of those.

  • To numerically construct the sound fields by a plenum fan mostly found in Air-Handling Unit (AHU), the Kirchhoff-BEM approach was applied to the near-field data of a turbo fan. The scattering effects were found to be significant by the plenum box structure for high-frequency components of source. The directivity petterns and sound pressure levels were also dependent upon the helmholts number which must be considered of the design stage for sound reduction program.

  • In this paper, we discuss on the optimal design scheme of the bilayer OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diodes) with micro-cavity structure. We carried out the optical simulation on the OLED device and calculated optimal scale of devices with taking the micro-cavity effect into account. Our emission model is based upon an ensemble of radiating dipole antennas. Consequently, we applied Maxwell's equation to this sequence, followed by the analysis on the electrical behaviors of OLED device using Poisson's equation. It contains carrier injection and transportation mechanism. In this process, we found out the thickness of each layer can affect the recombination rate at the emission layer. Therefore, we optimized the thickness of each layer to improve the efficiency of the device.

  • Very large floating structures have rather small motion characteristics except their ends, where the motions become much larger due to the elastic motion of the structure. This paper presents the numerical predictions of hydroelastic behaviors of VLFS in irregular waves. To predict motion responses of structure in irregular waves, the source-dipole distribution method and finite element method is used.

  • This research effort examines the flow behavior and heat transfer assessment of water carrying iron (iii) oxide magnetic fluid due to a rotating and moving plane lamina under the influence of magnetic dipole. The effect of rotational viscosity and magnetic body force is taken into consideration in the present study. The involvement of the moving disk makes a significant contribution to the velocity distribution and heat transfer in rotational flow. Vertical movement of the disk keeps the flow unsteady and the similarity transformation converts the governing equation of unsteady flow into nonlinear coupled differential equations. The non-dimensional equation in the present system is solved through the finite element procedure. Optimizing the use of physical parameters described in this flow, such results can be useful in the rotating machinery industries for heat transfer enhancement.

  • In this paper we propose two types of reconfigurable 3-D beam steering antenna for intelligent or smart antenna system. Proposed antennas are composed of triangular(structure1.) or circuler(structure2.) loop structure and bended dipole antenna structure. This antenna can steer beam pattern of 6 direction at xy-plane state (0, 1, 2) and xz-plane state (3, 4, 5) by 4 switch motion with one antenna element. Antenna structure1. is symmetric equilibrium structures based on feeding point. There is no grounding point. As a result, designed antenna's gain is similar to dipole antenna. Also, As unbalanced structure by using CPWG in the form of a semicircular, structure2. is enhanced directivity. The operation frequency of antenna are 2.5 GHz(Structure1.) and 2.55 GHz(Structure2.), maximum gain is 1.04 ~ 2.06 dBi(Structure1. : Omni-directional beam), 1.6 ~ 4 dBi(structure2. : Directional beam). The overall HPBW is about over $160^{\circ}$ in the both of the xy-plane and xz-plane at structure1. and over $125^{\circ}$ at structure2.

  • In this study, the new modeling scheme has been developed for recently designed and tested electromagnetic survey, which adapts horizontal magnetic dipole with $1\;kHz\~1\;MHz$ frequency range as a source. The 2.5-D secondary field formulation in wavenumber domain was constructed using finite element method and verified through comparing results with layered-earth solutions calculated by integral equations. 2-D conductive- and resistive-block models were constructed for calculating electric field, magnetic field and impedance - the ratio of electric and magnetic fields which are orthogonal each other. This study showed that electric field and impedance are superior in identifying 2-D isolated-body model to magnetic field. In particular, impedance gives more stable results than electric field with similar spatial resolving power, because electric field is divided by magnetic field in impedance. Thus the impedance analysis which uses electric and magnetic fields together would give better result in imaging the shallow anomalies than conventional EM method.
