  • Results of studies of SET-promoted dipole-forming photochemical group transfer reactions of phthalimide and ${\alpha}-ketoamide$ derivatives are discussed. Azomethine ylide forming photochemical reactions, which are initiated by intramolecular SET from tethered silylmethyl-, carboxymethyl-, and ${\beta}-hydroxyethyl$ containing electron donors to excited states of phthalimides, related maleimides, and conjugated imides, are presented first. Following this, investigations of regioselective 1,4-dipole forming photochemical reactions of N-trialkylsilylmethyl- and N-trialkylstannyl-${\alpha}$-ketoamides are described.

  • Two methods for evaluation of the dipole moment matrix elements are developed, one using the expansion method for spherical harmonics and the other the transformation method of the dipole moment matrix elements into overlap integrals for Mulliken. The numerical values of the dipole moment matrix elements evaluated by two methods are in agreement with each other.

  • Exactly aclculated antenna factors are requeired for determining EMI levels in an actual radiated emission test. In this paper, the antenna factors of short dipole antennas above the ground plane are calculated theoretically for the antenna with Roberts balun specified ANSI C63.5 regulation. Also treated is a half-wavelength dipole antenna with Roberts balun to compare the antenna factors with those of resonant dipole antenna. In formulationof antenna factors the antenna is treated as the boundary value problem of Maxwells equations and is analyzed by the Galerkins method of moments. The balun is treated using circuit theory based on power transmission mismatch.

  • The results of an ab initio (6-31G) molecular orbital calculation of the dipole moment derivatives and gas phase IR intensities of difluoromethane are reported. The results are compared with corresponding values obtained from a CNDO calculation. The directions of the dipole derivatives calculated by the two methods agree very well, whereas the intensities differ significantly. The results are also analyzed for the charge-charge flux-overlap electronic contributions to the dipole derivatives.

  • In this paper, a design method for a compact log-perio dic half-bow-tie dipole array antenna for an operation in a UWB band(3.1-10.6 GHz) is studied. The proposed antenna is miniaturized by using half-bow-tie shaped dipole elements instead of strip-type dipole elements, which are commonly used in a general log-periodic dipole array(LPDA) antenna, and by reducing the element spacing. The effects of the flare angle of the half-bow-tie elements and the spacing factor on input reflection coefficient and realized gain characteristics of the proposed log-periodic antenna are analyzed. The optimized antenna is fabricated on an FR4 substrate, and the experiment results show that the antenna has a frequency band of 2.95-11.31 GHz for a VSWR < 2, which assures the operation in the UWB band. In addition, the length and width of the proposed antenna are reduced to 32.1 % and 18.3 %, respectively, compared to the LPDA antenna.

  • Five kinds of modified electrode arrays were proposed to overcome the weak points of the commonly used arrays using dipole and/or pole in two-dimensional resistivity surveys. The modified pole-pole array was suggested to overcome the inefficiency caused by distant earthing in pole-pole array. Four kinds of modified arrays using dipole were designed to enhance the signal-to-noise ratio of the conventional dipole-dipole and pole-dipole arrays through boosting up the measured potential difference. In the numerical experiments using the two-dimensional modeling and inversion, the effects of the ambient electrical noise and the resolving power were examined and the results showed the validity of the modified arrays proposed in this study.

  • In this paper, the design of a printed dipole antenna fed by broadside coupled striplines (BCS) for the 3.5GHz band is described. The two fins of the bow tie are, respectively, on the two sides of the substrate. The feeding balanced lines adopted for 1×2 array are the BCS. The obtained numerical results are in good agreement with experimental data. Through experiments with printed dipole antennas of various extended angles, the printed dipole antenna exhibits the wide bandwidth in the desired frequency band, which has a bandwidth of 28% for VSWR < 2.0 : 1. And within this bandwidth, This printed dipole antenna achieves a stable radiation pattern. It is found that the narrow band and feeding for array characteristic which is a disadvantage of the conventional printed dipole antenna can be improved. The radiation pattern showed omnidirectional characteristics and the maximum gain was about 4.4dBi.

  • A new approach in calculating the dipole moments for transition metal complexes has been proposed and the calculated results are tabulated with the experimental values. The calculated dipole moments are applied to the theoretical prediction or confirmation of the geometric structure for the transition metal complexes.

  • The infrared intensities of $CH_{4}$ and $CD_{4}$ are analyzed. The experimental dipole moment derivatives thus obtained are compared with corresponding values from the molecular orbital calculations. The theoretical results are analyzed for the charge-charge flux-overlap(CCFO) electronic contributions to the dipole derivatives.
