  • The objectives of this study were to investigate the effect of perceiver's fashion involvement, clothing color, and background of object person on image perceptions of clothing, and to examine how clothing color preference vary according to perceiver's fashion involvement. Subjects were 273 college women in the metropolitan area of Seoul. The T-shirt was changed into 11 colors by using the CAD system. Five factors were derived to account for the dimensions of image perception. These were individuality, elegance, femininity, activity, and neatness. Perceiver's fashion involvement gave a significant influence on perception of individuality. Clothing color gave significant influences on 5 image dimensions. White and beige were evaluated neat image. Neatness factor had an interaction effect by fashion involvement and clothing color. The high involvement group evaluated white and beige shirt more neatly, and orange and yellow less neatly than the low involvement group. Individuality and elegance had an interaction effect by fashion involvement and background of object person. The high involvement group liked red, violet, and black shirt more than the low involvement. Refined and becomingness image gave significant influences on clothing color preference in both high and low involvement groups.

  • This paper presents a new method which is calculated to use only three vanishing points in order to compute the dimensions of object and its pose from a single image of perspective projection taken by a camera and the problem of recovering 3D models from three vanishing points of box scene. Our approach is to compute only three vanishing points without this information such as the focal length, rotation matrix, and translation from images in the case of perspective projection. We assume that the object can be modeled as a linear function of a dimension vector ν. The input of reconstruction is a set of correspondences between features in the model and features in the image. To minimize each the dimensions of the parameterized models, this reconstruction of optimization can be solved by the standard nonlinear optimization techniques with a multi-start method which generates multiple starting points for the optimizer by sampling the parameter space uniformly.

  • Purposes of the study were to find out the joint effects of two salient appearance cues-hair colors and hair lengths on males fashion images, using 729 university students in Daejon city and a Chungnam province. The study was a quasi experiment; the dependent variables were hair lengths(4 levels) and hair colors(4 levels)and the dependent variable was a set of semantic different of scales which was consisted of 40 hi-polar adjectives, The data were analyzed by a factor analysis, 3-way ANOVA, and the results were as follows. Hair lengths effected on the image of five dimensions, salient, social, potency, evaluate and dynamics while hair colors effected on salients, social and potency dimensions. The most significant interaction effect between hair color and lengths were existed on the salient image: For the longer haired males, the color effects became less evident then normal to shorten haired males and it can be concluded that when two salient cues were combined one cue's effect became discounted.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of uniform's color and motif on nurse's impression formation. The experimental design was 5×3×2(uniform color×motif ×perceiver's gender) factorial design with a between-subjects design. The experimental materials developed for the study were a set of stimuli and a response scale. The subjects were 738 undergraduate students of Daejon and Chungnam province. The SPSS package was used for data analysis which includes factor analysis, two-way ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test, and Cronbach's α to measure the reliability. Results were as follows; The image or the stimulus was consisted of the 4 different dimensions(evaluation, sociability, ability, potency). All the independent variables showed some significant impression effects on selected dimensions. The motif and perceiver's gender also showed significant main effects as well as some interaction effects with the color variable on some selected impression dimension and the impression effects of the three variables in relationship to perceiving nurses' images. On a conclusion, these results supported the Gestalt theory.

  • In this paper we propose a feature vector extraction technique using regression of shape features for the content-based image retrieval system. The proposed technique can reduce the number of dimensions of a feature vector by converting the extracted high-dimensional feature vector into a specific n-dimensional feature vector. This paper shows how to resolve the 'dimensionality curse' problem by reducing the number of dimensions of a feature vector, and shows that the technique is more efficient than the conventional techniques for the practical image retrievals.

  • Recently, the importance of 'character' is widely acknowledged by practitioners and academic arena. Character is the archetype of design product. Unfortunately, however, there have been limited character design studies. The purpose of this study is to identify the components of character design and then to verify the causal relationships among them. The research model of the current study is developed based upon the past studies on the consumer response model related to the product design. The result of the study shows that the dimensions of character design are converged into upper dimensions, including such as character appearance, character image, and character attachment with each lower dimensions, respectively. An analysis of relationship among these variables indicates that while the character appearance tends to trigger character image, the character image leads to character attachment. In addition, both the character image and the character attachment have a positive influence on the loyalty of the character. Understanding of the paths among consumers' responses will be able to be a good guideline for establishing character design strategy. And, finally, the authors discuss some theoretical contributions and managerial implications.

  • The purpose of this paper is to explore how the country-of-origin image mediates the effect of national stereotypes along two dimensions of perceived competence and warmth, on consumers' consumption behaviors, especially in today's environment, the capricious COVID-19 and the deepening and expanding "The Belt and Road" initiative. Research design, data, and methodology: After collecting 1500 primary data from twelve countries along the 21st - Century Maritime Silk Road, this paper conducts ANOVA and SEM in SPSS25.0 and AMOS 24.0 separately to analyze measurements, structural models, and hypotheses via using 1277 final samples. The mediation results illustrate the asymmetric dominance of the two dimensions of national stereotypes, indicating that the country-of-origin image shows the complementary mediation in the effect of perceived competence on purchase intention; whereas, the country-of-origin image holds the indirect-only mediation in the impact of perceived warmth on purchase intention. The results of the moderation show that the effect of country-of-origin image on purchase intention is more significant for consumers who perceive COVID-19 in China to be of lesser severity than those who believe it to be of higher severity. Based on the paper's results, some implications for practice and theory are highlighted.

  • The purpose of this research was to investigate the image dimension depending on the coloration of the Korean jacket of cromatic colors and the Korean skirt of acromatic color and to elucidate the image difference depending on the tone variation of the Korean jacket and the Korean skirt. The experimental materials used for this study were sets of stimulus and response scales(7 point semantic). The stimuli manipulated by computer simulation were 48 color pictures with various combinations of colors of jackets and skirts. The subjects were 576 female undergraduates living in Jinju city. This experiment was based on the $3{\times}4{\times}4$ factorial designs: jacket color(red, yellow and green), jacket tone(vivid, light, dull and dark), and skirt tone(N9, N7, N4 and N2). Image factor of the stimuli consisted of 4 different dimensions(youthfulness and activity, gracefulness, visibility and tenderness). Among them, the youthfulness and activity, and the gracefulness were important. According to the tone variation of Korean jacket of cromatic colors and Korean skirt of acromatic color, the images for a wearer were expressed diversely and showed the difference in image dimensions.

  • The purposes of this study were to segment adolescents into groups by family and school factors and to investigate the differences among the groups regarding body image and self-esteem. The study distributed the questionnaires to the adolescents who were middle and high school students in South Korea. The total respondents were 2240. The data were analyzed by factor analysis, cluster analysis, ANOVA, Duncan test, and $X^2-test$. Factor analysis showed that body image had four dimensions: appearance management, physical attractiveness, weight control, and the opposite sex fear. The cluster analysis showed that Korean adolescents were segmented into four groups (family preference/school preference group, family dissatisfaction/school dissatisfaction group, family average/peer competition group, family average/peer dissatisfaction group). The four groups were significantly different in regard to three dimensions of body image, self-esteem, and demographics. For example, the family preference/school preference group was most satisfied with their bodies, had a lowest opposite sex fear, and had a highest self·esteem. However, family dissatisfaction/teacher dissatisfaction group was most dissatisfied with their bodies, had a greatest interest in their appearance, and had a lowest self-esteem.
