Stability of superconductor by integration formula

  • The superconductor stability theories are consistently described by the integral formula. If the defined stability function is a simple decreasing function, it becomes a cryogenic stability condition. If the stability function has a maximum value and a minimum value, and the maximum value is less than 0, then it is a cold-end recovery condition. If the maximum value is more than 0, it can be shown that the unstable equilibrium temperature, that is, the MPZ (minimum propagation zone) temperature distribution can exist. The MPZ region is divided into two regions according to the current ratio. At the low current ratio, the maximum dimensionless temperature is greater than 1, and at the relatively high current ratio, the maximum dimensionless temperature is less than 1. In order to predict the minimum quench energy, the dimensionless energy was obtained for the MPZ temperature distribution. In particular, it was shown that the dimensionless energy can be obtained even when the MPZ maximum temperature is 1 or more.

연속 레이저 흡수에 의한 증발제거 과정의 관련 인자 영향 고찰 (Effect of Parameters in Evaporative Removal Process by Absorption of a CW Laser)

  • Explosive evaporative removal process of biological tissue by absorption of a CW laser has been simulated by using gelatin and a multimode Nd: YAG laser. Because the point of maximun temperature of laser-irradiated gelatin exists below the surface due to surface cooling, evaporation at the boiling temperature is made explosively from below the surface. The important parameters of this process are the conduction loss to laser power absorption (defined as the conduction-to-laser power parameter, Nk), the convection heat transfer at the surface to conduction loss (defined as Bi), dimensionless extinction coefficient (defined as BrJ, and dimensionless irradiation time (defined as Fo). Dependence of Fo on Nk and Bi has been observed by experiment, and the results have been compared with the numerical results obtained by solving a 2-dimensional conduction equation. Fo and explosion depth (from the surface to the point of maximun temperature) are increased when Nk and Bi are increased. To find out the minimum laser power for explosive evaporative removal process, steady state analysis has been also made. The limit of Nk to induce evaporative removal, which is proportional to the inverse of the laser power, has been obtained.

여름철 득량만의 열속과 관련한 성층 (Stratification related to Heat Flux in Deukryang Bay during Summer)

  • In order to see the stratification related to the heat flux In Deukryang Bay, the oceanographic data on July 12, 1994 and the meteorological data of Kohung and Kwangju meteorological stations were analysed. The temperature durerences between the sea surface and the near bottom were 1~3 ton spring tide (July 12, 1994) In Deukryang Bay. The temperature anomalies were high about 3t during summer In 1994. These mean that the non mixing was not effective In destroying the stratification due to the sea surface heating by the solar radition, even though it was on spring tide. The maximum solar radiation was about 600 ly/day, which was the value of the same date of oceanographic observation. The sensible and the latent heat flux which are 0~100 ly/day were not so varied during summer. The absorbed heat flux through the sea surface was mostly lost by the back radiation. which ranges are about 0~-400 ly/day. The dimensionless mixing parameter related to the buoyancy flux was 5~150$\times$$10^{-5}$. The efficiency of tidal mixing to destroy the stratecation was 0.4~0.6%.

충격함수를 이용한 사각평판 보강재의 모델링 및 진동 해석 (Stiffener Modeling for Rectangular Plates Employing the Dirac's Delta Function and Modal Analysis)

  • The effects of stiffeners on the modal characteristics of rectangular plates are investigated. A modeling method for the modal analysis of rectangular plates with stiffeners is presented. A mass density Dirac's delta function is used to idealize the stiffeners mathematically. The equations of motion for the plates are derived and transformed into a dimensionless form. To confirm the accuracy of the method presented in this study, numerical result are obtained and compared to those of a commercial program. The mode shape variations due to some parameter variations are also exhibited.

  • A modeling method for the vibration analysis of rotating cantilever plastes with stiffeners is presented. The equations of motion for the plates aer derived and trnasformed into a dimensionless form. A mass density Dirac's delta function is used to idealize the stiffener mathematically. The effects of stiffeners on the model characteristics of the plate are investigated, and mode shape variations due to some parameter variation are exhibited. It is found that veering phenomena occur between some loci and associated mode shapes change significantly during the veering phenomena.

점접촉에서 단무차원매개변수에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Simple Dimensionless Parameter in Higher Pair)

  • It is important to have exact informations on the real contact mechanism between spheres and rough plates under various normal loads, sphere diameters and combined surface roughnesses. Most previous papers have proposed the questions of the errors which might be incurred when the Hertzian theory is used to calculated the contact deformation and the contact pressure of practical higher pair. So, this study investigates the real contact deformation between a rough sphere and a rough plate by three experimental methods far from any assumptions and theorems. The soot coating method among them is used successfully. Accordingly, this study presents the simple dimensionless parameter to predict such errors to occur in the design of high pair members and to govern the real mechanism of two-body higher pair.

  • Since various parameters including the welding conditions and material properties are involved in metal transfer, it is difficult to figure out the effects of each parameter. In this study, dimensional analysis in performed to reduce the number of the parameters and to reveal the effect of each parameter on metal transfer. Dimensionless parameters are derived based on the inertia force and surface tension, and their contributions on metal transfer are estimated by analyzing the calculated results using the volume of fluid (VOF) method. Among several dimensionless parameters, $N_{SE}(=$\mu$_{0}I^{2}/d_{w}${\gamma}$)$ which represents the ratio of the electromagnetic force to surface tension, is found to be appropriate to describe metal transfer and estimate the transition current. Predicted results of transition current and drop size are in reasonably good agreements with available experimental date which show the validity of proposed dimensional analysis.

Dimensionless analysis of composite rectangular and circular RC columns

  • A numerical procedure is presented that provides ultimate curvature and moment domains for composite rectangular and circular cross-sections of reinforced concrete columns with or without an embedded steel section subjected to combined axial loading and biaxial bending. The stress resultants for the concrete and reinforcement bars are calculated using fiber analysis and the stress resultants for the encased structural steel are evaluated using an exact integration of the stress-strain curve over the area of the steel section. A dimensionless formula is proposed that can be used for any section with similar normalized geometric and mechanical parameters. The contribution of each material to the bearing capacity of a section (resistance load and moments) is calculated separately so that the influence of each geometric or mechanical parameter on the bearing capacity can be investigated separately.

  • 본 연구에서는 해양수산자원 및 레크리에이션 증진을 위한 프로그램의 일부로 개발된 철도차량 인공어초의 수리학적 안정성 평가를 위해 수리모형실험을 수행하였다. Froude 상사법칙을 적용한 고정상 및 이동상 수리모형실험에서는 설계외력(파랑, 흐름 등)에 상당하는 조건에 따라 이론적/실험적 검토를 수행하였다. 실험결과로서 파랑-흐름공존장에서 어초의 안정성에 영향을 미치는 무차원 영향인자(설계파라메타)로서 쇄파상사지수, 수립자속도, 세굴/퇴적 등이 있으며, 고정상 실험에서 어초의 활동을 일으키는 한계조건은 쇄파상사지수에 따라서 무차원 최대수립자속도가 약 0.32 이상일 때 나타났다. 또한 이동상 실험에서 침하량(현장치)은 6~30cm이었다. 실험결과를 바탕으로 어초의 활동에 작용하는 외력의 방향과 저질 특성이 어초 시설적지를 선정할 때 반드시 고려되어야 함을 알 수 있었다.

충돌수분류에 냉각되는 고온 강판의 열전달에 있어 노즐높이의 영향에 대한 연구 (The Effect of Nozzle Height on Heat Transfer of a Hot Steel Plate Cooled by an Impinging Water Jet)

  • The effect of nozzle height on heat transfer of a hot steel plate cooled by an impinging liquid jet is not well understood. Previous studies have been based on the dimensionless parameter z/d. To test the validity of this dimensionless parameter and to investigate gravitational effects on the jet, stagnation velocity of an impinging liquid jet were measured and the cooling experiments of a hot steel plate were conducted for z/d from 6.7 to 75, and an inverse heat conduction method is applied for the quantitative comparison. Also, the critical instability point of a liquid jet was examined over a range of flow rates. The experimental velocity data for the liquid jet were well correlated with the dimensionless number 1/F $r_{z}$$^2$based on distance. It was thought that the z/d parameter was not valid for heat transfer to an impinging liquid jet under gravitational forces. In the cooling experiments, heat transfer was independent of z when 1/F $r_{z}$$^2$< 0.187(z/d = 6.7). However, it was found that the heat transfer quantity for 1/F $r_{z}$$^2$=0.523(z/d = 70) is larger 11% than that in the region for 1/F $r_{z}$$^2$=0.187. The discrepancy between these results and previous research is likely due to the instability of liquid jet.uid jet.
