  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the MAUP's effect in visibility analysis using GIS. MAUP normally occurs in the process in terrain spatial analysis including visibility analysis. There are two different types of grid data(based on digital map and Digital Terrain Elevation Data) and 10 different types of areal units are made for modeling, such as $5m{\times}5m,\;10m{\times}10m,\;15m{\times}15m,\;20m{\times}20m,\;25m{\times}25m,\;30m{\times}30m,\;35m{\times}35m,\;40m{\times}40m,\;45m{\times}45m,\;50m{\times}50$. By analyzing the result, it was possible to observe varying viewshed areas according to different grid cell sizes and the viewshed area did not varied linearly as expected. From a general point of view, smaller unit data map out the real world in more detail, but the results of modeling do not always reach a good conclusion when data are used in modeling for terrain analysis because of the MAUP' effect. The grid cell sizes of 30m or less seems to be adequate for visibility analysis, including terrain analysis considering vegetation heights.

  • The purpose of this study is to aim at presenting efficient technique of 3-D Terrain Modelling through multilateral approach methods and to compare with raw data, using low-densed randomly located point data. The subject religion of this study are selected two sites and take into consideration for degree of freedom about low-densed randomly located point data. The result of this study by precision analysis of digital cartographic map-ping using low-densed randomly located point data bave shown that . First, making digital cartographic map, the technique of making it using low-desned randomly located point data by TIN-based results to good and fast run-time in A and B sites all together. Second, the visualization analysis results of digital cartographic map using TIN and GRID-based terrain modeling techniqus similar exacts A and B sites, but the terrain modeling techniqus by TIN-based are small data size than GRID-based with the data with the data size of saving with DXF files. Third, making digital catographic map using terrain modeling techniques by Grid-based, the standard errors of low-densed randomly located point data and interpolated data using gridding method have more good results by radial basis function interpolation techniques at A and B sites all together.

  • The needs for digital models of real environment such as 3D terrain or cyber city model are increasing. Most of applications related with modeling and simulation require virtual environment constructed from geospatial information of real world in order to guarantee reliability and accuracy of the simulation. The most fundamental data for building virtual environment, terrain elevation and orthogonal imagery is acquired from optical sensor of satellite or airplane. Providing interoperable and reusable digital model is important to promote practical application of high-resolution satellite imagery. This paper presents the new research regarding representation of geospatial information, especially for 3D shape and appearance of virtual terrain. and describe framework for constructing real-time 3D model of large terrain based on high-resolution satellite imagery. It provides infrastructure of 3D simulation with geographical context. Web architecture, XML language and open protocols to build a standard based 3D terrain are presented. Details of standard-based approach for providing infrastructure of real-time 3D simulation using high-resolution satellite imagery are also presented. This work would facilitate interchange and interoperability across diverse systems and be usable by governments, industry scientists and general public.

  • Laser scanning is a new technology for obtaining Digital Surface Models(DSM) of the earth surface. It is a fast method for sampling the earth surface with high density and high point accuracy. This paper is for buildings extraction from LiDAR points data. The core part of building construction is based on a parameters filter for distinguishing between terrain and non-terrain laser points. The 3D geometrical properties of the building facades are obtained based on plane fitting using least-squares adjustment. The reconstruction part of the procedure is based on the adjacency among the roof facades. Primitive extraction and facade intersections are used for building reconstruction. For overcome the difficulty just reconstruct of laser points data used with digital camera images. Also, 3D buildings of city area reconstructed using digital map. Finally, In this paper show 3D building Modeling using digital map and LiDAR data.

  • In this study, we performed three dimensional(3-D) modeling and simulation of terrain surfaces by using large scale aerial photographs. The objectives of this study are to use landscape analysis including 3-D database of built environments. The test area is selected around Olympic stadium located in Susung-gu, Daegu. A 1:5,000 scale of ortho-photo map is generated by photogrammetric procedures from 1:20,000 scale of aerial photographs, Digital Elevation Model (DEM) is also extracted from stereo aerial photographs or digital maps. The heights of buildings are determined using GPS control survey and aerial photographs in the test area, DEMs are extracted from the digital map. And then the two are combined three-dimensional changes of landscape views of buildings with terrain are simulated.

  • In this study 3D topographic modeling was made by using aerial photography and digital terrain map, through this we did visibility analysis and implemented Web GIS of Dong-A university. Studying area was Busan Saha-gu Hadan-dong, we used aerial photography on a scale of 1:20,000 and digital terrain map on a scale of 1:5,000. Ortho correction image was made by aerial photography through selecting GCP, image matching, image resampling and precise differential rectification. And DEM on digital map was created using ArcView program, making 3D topographic modeling by road layer and building layer and implementing Web GIS about Dong-A university.

  • The fire effectiveness and the operationability of the ground weapon system (such as tank, armored vehicle, howitzer, MLRS, ${\cdots}$), whose operations are usually happened on the ground, are dependent not only on their performances but also on the terrain environments. Especially, the artillery weapons systems' effectiveness is largely varied, because their maneuverability (such as translation, occupation of their sites) and the fire effectiveness are very dependent on the terrain. In this paper, presented are the methods how to analyze the terrain using the digital terrain data. And a software (which are implemented on the IBM PC compatible personal computer) is developed for the analysis of the terrain using the various method of computer Aided Geometric Design and Modeling. The S/W is expected to be very useful for the evaluation of the artillery weapon systems and for the commanders' decision making.

  • The ability to efficiently and robustly recover accurate 3D terrain models from sets of stereoscopic images is important to many civilian and military applications. To develop an effective and practical terrain modeling system, we propose a new multi-image stereo method which detect unreliable elevations in DEM(Digital Elevation Map), and fuse several DEMs from multiple sources into an accurate and reliable results. This paper focuses on two key factors for generating robust 3D terrain models: the ability to detect unreliable elevation estimates and the ability to fuse the reliable elevations into a single optimal terrain model. We apply the self-consistency methodology to reconstruct accurate DEM from multi-image and show the method is more effective than the conventional stereo image 3D reconstruction method. Using photo-realistic simulator, four synthetic image are generated from ground truth DEM and orthoimage to evaluate the accuracy of the proposed method quantitatively.

  • A 3D modeling of urban area can be composed the terrain modeling that can express specific and shape of the terrain and the object modeling such as buildings, trees and facilities which are found in urban areas. Especially in a 3D modeling of building, it is very important to make a unit model by simplifying 3D structure and to take a texture mapping, which can help visualize surface information. In this study, the texture mapping technique, based on library for 3D urban modeling, was used for building modeling. This technique applies the texture map in the form of library which is constructed as building types, and then take mapping to the 3D building frame. For effectively apply, this technique, we classified buildings automatically using LiDAR data and made 3D frame using LiDAR and digital map. To express the realistic building texture, we made the texture library using real building photograph.
