Site-specific minimum temperature forecasts are critical in a short-term decision making procedure for preventive measures as well as a long-term strategy such as site selection in fruits industry. Nocturnal cold air pools frequently termed in mountainous areas under anticyclonic systems are very dangerous to the flowering buds in spring over Korea, but the spatial resolution to detect them exceeds the current weather forecast scale. To supplement the insufficient spatial resolution of official forecasts, we developed a GIS - assisted frost risk assesment scheme for using in mountainous areas. Daily minimum temperature data were obtained from 6 sites located in a 2.1 by 2.1 km area with complex topography near the southern edge of Sobaek mountains during radiative cooling nights in spring 2001. A digital elevation model with a 10 m spatial resolution was prepared for the entire study area and the cold air inflow was simulated for each grid cell by counting the number of surrounding cells coming into the processing cell. Primitive temperature surfaces were prepared for the corresponding dates by interpolating the Korea Meteorological Administration's automated observational data with the lapse rate correction. The cell temperature values corresponding to the 6 observation sites were extracted from the primitive temperature surface, and subtracted from the observed values to obtain the estimation error. The errors were regressed to the flow accumulation at the corresponding cells, delineating a statistically significant relationship. When we applied this relationship to the primitive temperature surfaces of frost nights during April 2002, there was a good agreement with the observations, showing a feasibility of site-specific frost warning system development in mountainous areas.
ASTER image has some advantages for classification such as 15 spectral bands and 15m ${\sim}$ 90m spatial resolution. However, in the classification using general remote sensing image, shadow areas are often classified into water area. It is very difficult to divide shadow and water. Because reflectance characteristics of water is similar to characteristics of shadow. Many land cover items are consisted in one pixel which is 15m spatial resolution. Nowadays, very high resolution satellite image (IKONOS, Quick Bird) and Digital Surface Model (DSM) by air borne laser scanner can also be used. In this study, mixed pixel analysis of ASTER image has carried out using IKONOS image and DSM. For mixed pixel analysis, high accurated geometric correction was required. Image matching method was applied for generating GCP datasets. IKONOS image was rectified by affine transform. After that, one pixel in ASTER image should be compared with corresponded 15×15 pixel in IKONOS image. Then, training dataset were generated for mixed pixel analysis using visual interpretation of IKONOS image. Finally, classification will be carried out based on Linear Mixture Model. Shadow extraction might be succeeded by the classification. The extracted shadow area was validated using shadow image which generated from 1m${\sim}$2m spatial resolution DSM. The result showed 17.2% error was occurred in mixed pixel. It might be limitation of ASTER image for shadow extraction because of 8bit quantization data.
Qualified ground control points (GCPs) are required to construct a digital elevation model (DEM) from a pushbroom stereo pair. An inverse geolocation algorithm for extracting GCPs from ERS SAR data and the SRTM DEM was recently developed. However, not all GCPs established by this method are accurate enough for direct application to the geometric correction of pushbroom images such as SPOT, IRS, etc, and thus a method for selecting and removing inaccurate points from the sets of GCPs is needed. In this study, we propose a method for evaluating GCP accuracy and winnowing sets of GCPs through orientation modeling of pushbroom image and validate performance of this method using SPOT stereo pair of Daejon City. It has been found that the statistical distribution of GCP positional errors is approximately Gaussian without bias, and that the residual errors estimated by orientation modeling have a linear relationship with the positional errors. Inaccurate GCPs have large positional errors and can be iteratively eliminated by thresholding the residual errors. Forty-one GCPs were initially extracted for the test, with mean the positional error values of 25.6m, 2.5m and -6.1m in the X-, Y- and Z-directions, respectively, and standard deviations of 62.4m, 37.6m and 15.0m. Twenty-one GCPs were eliminated by the proposed method, resulting in the standard deviations of the positional errors of the 20 final GCPs being reduced to 13.9m, 8.5m and 7.5m in the X-, Y- and Z-directions, respectively. Orientation modeling of the SPOT stereo pair was performed using the 20 GCPs, and the model was checked against 15 map-based points. The root mean square errors (RMSEs) of the model were 10.4m, 7.1m and 12.1m in X-, Y- and Z-directions, respectively. A SPOT DEM with a 20m ground resolution was successfully constructed using a automatic matching procedure.
Nowadays there are a lot of issues about copyright infringement in the Internet world because the digital content on the network can be copied and delivered easily. Indeed the copied version has same quality with the original one. So, copyright owners and content provider want a powerful solution to protect their content. The popular one of the solutions was DRM (digital rights management) that is based on encryption technology and rights control. However, DRM-free service was launched after Steve Jobs who is CEO of Apple proposed a new music service paradigm without DRM, and the DRM is disappeared at the online music market. Even though the online music service decided to not equip the DRM solution, copyright owners and content providers are still searching a solution to protect their content. A solution to replace the DRM technology is digital audio watermarking technology which can embed copyright information into the music. In this paper, the author proposed a new audio watermarking algorithm with two approaches. First, the watermark information is generated by two dimensional barcode which has error correction code. So, the information can be recovered by itself if the errors fall into the range of the error tolerance. The other one is to use chirp sequence of CDMA (code division multiple access). These make the algorithm robust to the several malicious attacks. There are many 2D barcodes. Especially, QR code which is one of the matrix barcodes can express the information and the expression is freer than that of the other matrix barcodes. QR code has the square patterns with double at the three corners and these indicate the boundary of the symbol. This feature of the QR code is proper to express the watermark information. That is, because the QR code is 2D barcodes, nonlinear code and matrix code, it can be modulated to the spread spectrum and can be used for the watermarking algorithm. The proposed algorithm assigns the different spread spectrum sequences to the individual users respectively. In the case that the assigned code sequences are orthogonal, we can identify the watermark information of the individual user from an audio content. The algorithm used the Walsh code as an orthogonal code. The watermark information is rearranged to the 1D sequence from 2D barcode and modulated by the Walsh code. The modulated watermark information is embedded into the DCT (discrete cosine transform) domain of the original audio content. For the performance evaluation, I used 3 audio samples, "Amazing Grace", "Oh! Carol" and "Take me home country roads", The attacks for the robustness test were MP3 compression, echo attack, and sub woofer boost. The MP3 compression was performed by a tool of Cool Edit Pro 2.0. The specification of MP3 was CBR(Constant Bit Rate) 128kbps, 44,100Hz, and stereo. The echo attack had the echo with initial volume 70%, decay 75%, and delay 100msec. The sub woofer boost attack was a modification attack of low frequency part in the Fourier coefficients. The test results showed the proposed algorithm is robust to the attacks. In the MP3 attack, the strength of the watermark information is not affected, and then the watermark can be detected from all of the sample audios. In the sub woofer boost attack, the watermark was detected when the strength is 0.3. Also, in the case of echo attack, the watermark can be identified if the strength is greater and equal than 0.5.

For forward error correction, DVB-S2, which is the digital video broadcasting forward error coding and modulation standard for satellite television, uses a system based the concatenation of BCH with LDPC inner coding. In DVB-S2 the LDPC codes are defined for 11 different code rates, which means that a DVB-S2 LDPC decoder should support multiple code rates. Seven of the 11 code rates, 3/5, 2/3, 3/4, 4/5, 5/6, 8/9, and 9/10, are regular and the rest four code rates, 1/4, 1/3, 2/5, and 1/2, are irregular. In this paper we propose a flexible decoder for the regular LDPC codes. We combined the partially parallel decoding architecture that has the advantages in the chip size, the memory efficiency, and the processing rate with Benes network to implement a DVB-S2 LDPC decoder that can support multiple code rates with a block size of 64,800 and can configure the interconnection between the variable nodes and the check nodes according to the parity-check matrix. The proposed decoder runs correctly at the frequency of 200MHz enabling 193.2Mbps decoding throughput. The area of the proposed decoder is $16.261m^2$ and the power dissipation is 198mW at a power supply voltage of 1.5V.

The effects of wind speed on the temperature change during day time could be insignificant in a region with a complex terrain. The objective of this study was to derive empirical relationship between solar radiation and hourly temperature under a windy condition for the period from sunrise to sunset in order to improve hourly air temperature at a site-specific scale. The deviation of the temperature measurements was analyzed along with the changes of the hourly sunlight at weather observation sites located on the east and west slopes under given wind speed. An empirical model where wind speed use used as an independent variable was obtained to quantify the solar effects on the temperature change (MJ/㎡). This model was verified estimating the hourly temperature during the daytime (0600-1900 h) at 25 weather observation sites located in the study area that has complex topography for the period from January to December 2018. The mean error (ME) and root mean square error (RMSE)of the estimated and measured values ranged from -0.98 to 0.67 ℃, and from 0.95 to 2.04 ℃, respectively. The daytime temperature at 1500 h were estimated using new and previous models. It was found that to the model proposed in the present study reduced the measurement errors of the hourly temperature in the afternoon in comparison with the previous model. For example, the ME and RMSE of the previous model were (ME -0.91 ℃ and 1.47 ℃, respectively. In contrast, the values of ME and RMSE were -0.45 ℃ and 1.22 ℃ for the new model, respectively. Our results suggested that the reliability of hourly temperature estimates at a specific site could be improved taking into account the effect of wind as well as solar radiation.

Digital Multimedia Broadcasting(DMB) is a reliable multi-service system for reception by mobile and portable receivers. DMB system allows interference-free reception under the conditions of multipath propagation and transmission errors using COFDM modulation scheme, simultaneously, needs powerful channel error's correction ability. Viterbi Decoder for DMB receiver uses punctured convolutional code and needs lots of computations for real-time operation. So, it is desired to design a high speed and low-power hardware scheme for Viterbi decoder. This paper proposes a combined add-compare-select(ACS) and path metric normalization(PMN) unit for computation power. The proposed PMN architecture reduces the problem of the critical path by applying fixed value for selection algorithm due to the comparison tree which has a weak point from structure with the high-speed operation. The proposed ACS uses the decomposition and the pre-computation technique for reducing the complicated degree of the adder, the comparator and multiplexer. According to a simulation result, reduction of area $3.78\%$, power consumption $12.22\%$, maximum gate delay $23.80\%$ occurred from punctured viterbi decoder for DMB system.

An exponentiation in $GF(2^m)$ is a basic operation for several algorithms used in cryptography, digital signal processing, error-correction code and so on. Existing hardware implementations for the exponentiation operation organize by Right-to-Left method since a merit of parallel circuit. Our paper proposes a polynomial exponentiation structure with a trinomial that is organized by Left-to-Right method and that utilizes a weakly dual basis. The basic idea of our method is to decrease time delay using precomputation tables because one of two inputs in the Left-to-Right method is fixed. Since $T_{sqr}$ (squarer time delay) + $T_{mul}$(multiplier time delay) of ow method is smaller than $T_{mul}$ of existing methods, our method reduces time delays of existing Left-to-Right and Right-to-Left methods by each 17%, 10% for $x^m+x+1$ (irreducible polynomial), by each 21%, 9% $x^m+x^k+1(1, by each 15%, 1% for $x^m+x^{m/2}+1$.

This paper evaluated the possibility for 1/5,000 digital topographic mapping by using PLEIADES images of 0.5m GSD(Ground Sampling Distance) resolution that has recently launched. Those results of check points by applying the initial RPC(Rational Polynomial Coefficient) of PLEIADES images came out as; RMSE of those were $X={\pm}1.806m$, $Y={\pm}2.132m$, $Z={\pm}1.973m$. Also, if we corrected geometric correction using 16 GCP(Ground Control Point)s, the results of RMSE became $X={\pm}0.104m$, $Y={\pm}0.171m$, $Z={\pm}0.036m$, and t he RMSE of check points were $X={\pm}0.357m$, $Y={\pm}0.239m$, $Z={\pm}0.188m$; which of those results indicated the accuracy of standard adjustment complied in error tolerances of the 1/5,000 scale. Additionally, we converted coordinates of points, obtained by TerraSAR. for comparing with measurements from GPS(Global Positioning System) surveying. The RMSE of comparing converted and GPS points were $X={\pm}0.818m$, $Y={\pm}0.200m$, $Z={\pm}0.265m$, which confirmed the possibility for 1/5,000 digital topographic mapping with PLEIADES images and GCPs. As method of obtaining GCPs in unaccessible area, however, the outcome evaluation of GCPs extracted from TerraSAR images was not acceptable for 1/5,000 digital topographic mapping. Therefore, we considered that further researches are needed on applicability of GCPs extracted from TerraSAR images for future alternative method.
[ $\underline{Purpose}$ ]: The purpose of this study is to develop a practical method for determining accurate marker positions for prostate cancer radiotherapy using CT images and kV x-ray images obtained from the use of the on- board imager (OBI). $\underline{Materials\;and\;Methods}$: Three gold seed markers were implanted into the reference position inside a prostate gland by a urologist. Multiple digital image processing techniques were used to determine seed marker position and the center-of-mass (COM) technique was employed to determine a representative reference seed marker position. A setup discrepancy can be estimated by comparing a computed $COM_{OBI}$ with the reference $COM_{CT}$. A proposed algorithm was applied to a seed phantom and to four prostate cancer patients with seed implants treated in our clinic. $\underline{Results}$: In the phantom study, the calculated $COM_{CT}$ and $COM_{OBI}$ agreed with $COM_{actual}$ within a millimeter. The algorithm also could localize each seed marker correctly and calculated $COM_{CT}$ and $COM_{OBI}$ for all CT and kV x-ray image sets, respectively. Discrepancies of setup errors between 2D-2D matching results using the OBI application and results using the proposed algorithm were less than one millimeter for each axis. The setup error of each patient was in the range of $0.1{\pm}2.7{\sim}1.8{\pm}6.6\;mm$ in the AP direction, $0.8{\pm}1.6{\sim}2.0{\pm}2.7\;mm$ in the SI direction and $-0.9{\pm}1.5{\sim}2.8{\pm}3.0\;mm$ in the lateral direction, even though the setup error was quite patient dependent. $\underline{Conclusion}$: As it took less than 10 seconds to evaluate a setup discrepancy, it can be helpful to reduce the setup correction time while minimizing subjective factors that may be user dependent. However, the on-line correction process should be integrated into the treatment machine control system for a more reliable procedure.
