Study on fracture mechanics of granite specimens with different precast notch depths based on DIC method

  • Displacements near crack and stress intensity factor (SIF) are key parameters to solve rock failure issue when using fracture mechanics. In order to study the horizontal displacement and stress intensity factor of the mode I fracture, a series of three-point bending tests of granite specimens with central notch were carried out. The evolution of horizontal displacements of precast notch and crack tip opening displacements (CTOD) were analyzed based on the digital image correlation (DIC) method. Stress intensity factors for three-point bending beams with arbitrary span-to-width ratios(S/W) were calculated by using the WU-Carlsson analytical weight function for edge-crack finite width plate and the analytical solution of un-cracked stress by Filon. The present study provides a high efficient and accurate method for fracture mechanics analysis of the three-point bending granite beams.

An User-driven Service Creation Architecture in Consumer Networking Environments (소비자 네트워킹 환경에서의 사용자 주도 서비스의 효율적 생성)

  • In a Web 2.0 context, users are exposed to numerous smart devices and services that allow real-time interaction between users (or consumers) and developers (or producers). For the provisioning of new user-created services based on user's context, the data management of service creation experiences becomes a non-trivial task. This article introduces a data model for service creation and then proposes a service creation management architecture which enables new service creation using the data model, the management of the service creation data, and the semantic service discovery across internal/external service repositories. The article also explains the use of the proposed architecture with two different scenarios: home and mobile environments. The proposed architecture for service creation data management offers consistent and seamless handling of the service creation data throughout its usage lifecycle.

  • Generally, although securing the condition and location of container freights or normal freights, which load a fresh goods, has been a very important issue in the cold-chain system implementations, it has not gotten out of the traditional methods in the related business world yet. To solve this problem, we propose the designing method and architecture which can be used to implement a smart cold-chain monitoring automation systems. The proposed system architecture is based on the oneM2M standards, and it has 3 layers and entities, which can be implemented to S/W and H/W, network services layer and entity, common services layer and entity, application layer and entity. Based on this architecture, we will not only expect an innovative retrenchment of distribution cost, but also automatically secure the freight condition and location.

A New Parallelizing Algorithm and Cell-based Hardware Architecture for High-speed Generation of Digital Hologram (디지털 홀로그램의 고속 생성을 위한 병렬화 알고리즘 및 셀 기반의 하드웨어 구조)

  • This paper proposes a new equation to calculate computer-generated hologram (CGH) in a high speed and its cell-based VLSI (veri large scale integrated circuit) architecture. After finding the calculational regularity in the horizontal or vertical direction from the basic CGH equation, we induce the new equation to calculate the horizontal or vertical hologram pixel values in parallel. We also propose the architecture of the CGH cell consisting of a initial parameter calculator and update-phase calculator(s) on the basis of the equation and implement them in hardware. Also we show a hardware architecture to parallelize the calculation in the horizontal direction by extending CGH. In the experiments we analyze the used hardware resources. These analyses makes it possible to select the amount of hardware to the precision of the results. Here, for the CGH kernel and the structure of the processor, we used the platform from our previous works.

  • Newly-designed high-rise buildings, both in China and abroad, have demonstrated new innovations from the creative concept to the creative method. from the creative concept to the creative method. At the same time, digital technology has enabled more design freedom in the vertical dimension. "Twisting" has gradually become the morphological choice of many city landmark buildings in recent years. The form seems more likely to be driven by the interaction of aesthetics and structural engineering. Environmental performance is often a secondary consideration; it is typically not simulated until the evaluation phase. Based on the research results of "DigitalFUTURE Shanghai 2017 Workshop - Wind Tunnel Visualization", an approach that can be employed by architects to design environmental-performance buildings during the early stages has been explored. The integration of a dynamic form-finding approach (DFFA) and programming transforms the complex relationship between architecture and environment into a dialogue of computer language and dynamic models. It allows the design to focus on the relationship between morphology and the surrounding environment, and is not limited to the envelope form itself. This new concept of DFFA in this research consists of three elements: 1) architectural form; 2) integration of wind tunnel and dynamic models; and 3) environmental response. The concept of wind tunnel testing integrated with a dynamic model fundamentally abandons the functional definition of the traditional static environment simulation analysis. Instead it is driven by integral environmental performance as the basic starting point of morphological generation.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide a quantitative evaluation index of object-oriented software development productivity for EJB 3.0 and EJB 3.1. A lightweight container architecture is a newly-developed architecture in order to solve demerits that N-Tiers enterprise architecture has and to support merits therein. A lightweight container architecture is not as heavy as EJB(Enterprise JavaBeans) architecture is, whereas it provides all the functionality of the EJB container. However, there have been insufficient studies on a performance evaluation of EJB 3.0 and EJB 3.1 on an identical platform. Since a quantitative analysis has been performed only with respect to a partial LoC(Line of Code) analysis, there have been insufficient objective evaluation indeces and guidelines for a new specification released. Accordingly, there has been limited evaluation of software development productivity and on new innovations in a project. Therefore, this study designed and implemented a movie reservation system in EJB 3.0 and EJB 3.1, which was based on the same development platform environment. This study then intends to provide evaluation guidelines for an objective software development productivity cl LoC(Lineand standardization thereof by development platform environment.

Development of a Design Framework for Simulation Based Shipyard Layout (시뮬레이션 기반 조선소 레이아웃 설계 프레임워크 개발)

  • In recent days, global shipbuilding companies have been increasing their productivity or expanding their shipyards for a large amount of orders. Though, few researches about the shipyard layout designs have been studied. This research presents a simulation-based shipyard layout design framework to resolve the problems of the shipyard layout design. The shipyard layout design framework was developed on the basis of systems engineering method. The disciplined system engineering technique was guided by ISO/IEC 15288 during the planning phase of the shipyard layout design framework development. This framework suggests that how efficient and effective shipyard layout design could be got, that can satisfy the stakeholder of the layout. Furthermore, it is recommended that how the proposed shipyard layout should be verified and validated by digital simulation model. It is expected that the framework will contribute to not only the improvement of the existing shipyard but also the construction of the new shipyard.

  • In addition to the 4th Industrial Revolution and Industry 4.0, the recent megatrends in the ICT field are Big-data, IoT, Cloud Computing, and Artificial Intelligence. Therefore, rapid digital transformation according to the convergence of various industrial areas and ICT fields is an ongoing trend that is due to the development of technology of AI services suitable for the era of the 4th industrial revolution and the development of subdivided technologies such as (Business Intelligence), IA (Intelligent Analytics, BI + AI), AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things), AIOPS (Artificial Intelligence for IT Operations), and RPA 2.0 (Robotic Process Automation + AI). This study aims to integrate and advance various machine learning services of infrastructure-side GPU, CDA (Connected Data Architecture) framework, and AI based on mass distributed Abyss storage in accordance with these technical situations. Also, we want to utilize AI business revenue model in various industries.

  • In sensor systems, ADC (analog-to-digital converter) demands high resolution, low power consumption, and high signal bandwidth. Sigma-delta ADC achieves high resolution by high order structure and high over-sampling ratio, but it suffers from high power consumption and low signal bandwidth. SAR (successive-approximation-register) ADC achieves low power consumption, but there is a limitation to achieve high resolution due to process mismatch. This paper surveys architecture improvement of ADC to overcome these problems.

  • Recently, xDSL(x Digital Subscriber Line) service has got more and more interest not only in Korea but also all around the world. Many of telecom service companies around the world began to supply ADSL service, a kind of xDSL. And VDSL has been emerging as the next-generation technology of this ADSL. VDSL is very hish bit rate digital subscriber line and the fastest service of xDSL. VDSL is enough to service IP Multicasting, VoD, Broadcast video and etc. which become more important. In this paper we'd like to help making most suitable situation of Internet service by designing this VDSL networks architecture.
