Development of VR Healing Content 'NORNIR' Using Color Therapy (컬러테라피를 활용한 VR 힐링 콘텐츠, '노르니르' 개발)

  • This study embodies and proposes VR color therapy healing contents 'Nornir' that can manage stress in daily life. "Nornir" applies the CRR analysis method to provide a customized VR color therapy experience according to the three colors selected by the user. It is designed to enable users to understand themselves through their color journey, to rec eive various color interactions and stimuli to implement in the future, and to provide healing that lowers stress levels. Based on the results implemented, the Korean version of the mood condition test 'K-POMS' was conducted before an d after the demonstration to check the user's stress changes after the content demonstration. Experiments have shown that users clearly see a decrease in negative emotions and an increase in positive emotions. By using VR technology, color psychotherapy rules are combined to provide the possibility of relieving stress for users who are exposed to fre quent stress in daily life.

  • Domestic digital signage industry has been growing in line with the Internet and intelligent devices like smart phones. However, policies for digital signage need to be supplemented because existing policies are only focused on regulations for outdoor advertisements. Moreover, while digital technologies have been developed, there are few contents technologies to support the digital technologies. In this context, this research aims to identify the problems in relation to the domestic digital signage industry and seek for measures to solve the problems. Various case studies and literature review were conducted to identify problems in terms of policy, technology and service, and measures for revitalizing the digital signage industry were suggested. The research is expected to help digital signage to serve as new convergence media available for customization targeting and user participation.

Digital Manufacturing - a Strategy for Engineering Collaboration

  • How to achieve engineering collaboration among diverse engineering activities is one of the key topics in manufacturing fields nowadays. The infrastructure for collaborative engineering is essential, and it can be realized by information technologies and intelligent engineering applications in digital environments. Digital Manufacturing is a technology to facilitate effective product developments and agile productions by computer models representing the physical and logical schema and the behavior of real manufacturing systems including products, processes and factories. A digital factory as a well-designed and integrated digital environment is incorporated in it. In this paper, digital manufacturing is recommended as a good strategy for collaborative engineering, especially in product developments and productions. By business process analysis and some case studies, we suggested sophisticated digital models are very useful to concurrent and collaborative engineering. It is expected that digital manufacturing is a very good strategy for achieving dramatic time and cost savings in many engineering activities of many manufacturing industries, including machinery, automotive and shipbuilding.

Digital Contents Control for Desktop Virtualization: A Case of Virtual Folder Based Implementation (데스크톱 가상화에 따른 디지털콘텐츠 통제방안: 가상폴더방식의 구현사례)

  • Recently, with the enlargement of cloud computing, virtual desktop infrastructure(VDI) can be an alternative of the existing personal computer based information environment. For the case of partially introduced VDI coexisting with personal computer environment, we suggest a virtual folder based approach to control the overall digital contents within an organization with a case of implementation. Although a centralizing device was used for storage and sharing of organization's digital contents, it was not easy to accomplish centralizing digital contents completely. It is tried to prevent users from utilizing their own storage in their personal computers or virtual machines and to use virtual folder which transfer and store digital contents to and in EDMS. The virtual folder system of this paper looks like a real folder in a personal computer, but it is another virtual device for outer storage devices including EDMS. It can be an alternative and reference of digital contents control for future applications of cloud computing.

  • Image has more power in the 21st century than ever before. With the advance in technology and media, image is either made or received more easily and promptly using digital technology. Because of that, it has been hard for digital images to gain value as a work of art. But after NFT technology was developed and then applied to digital images, we have come to distinguish the original from the copy of it. People are trying various ways to allow digital images to be acknowledged as art, and changing the nature of digital images that makes new paradigms in the history of art. Through NFT artworks rising as a new style, this paper analyzed and investigated the new properties and changing characteristics of digital images in order to anticipate the characteristics of artworks that the public produces, enjoys, and consumes. This study is grounded on experimental analysis methods, and this author expects that it can contribute to figuring out which kinds of visual culture and artworks digital image is influencing currently from various perspectives.

  • As society becomes more digital, the need for digital forensics experts are gradually increasing. It is necessary to establish a training policy that reflects the special characteristics of digital forensics personnel. Although there are fragmented policies for digital forensics-related systems and human resources training in academia, it is an urgently necessary to establish a systematic and long-term policy to foster digital forensics experts. This study suggests curriculum of digital forensic based on the importance ranking among forensic subjects. The importance ranking can be decided by forensic experts. This study can be used as policy data to foster diverse talent that can effectively meet the increasing demand for digital forensics talent. The systematic curriculum proposed in this study is a practical curriculum at the undergraduate level and can be suitable for university level

Exploring Technology Development Trends and Discovering Technology Convergence Opportunities in the Digital Twin using Patent Information (특허정보를 활용한 디지털 트윈 기술 동향 분석 및 기술융합기회 발굴)

  • Digital twin is considered as a key technology of industry 4.0, thus being essential for the future of industrial production. Despite the significance, a systematic analysis of its technological landscape is lacking. This study aims to investigate the technological development trends and newly emerging technological convergence opportunities in the domain of digital twin by exploiting patent information derived from U SPTO. For this purpose, this study visualized and predicted the convergence dynamics among patent classification codes by adopting patent co-classification analysis and link prediction approach. The findings show that the number of digital twin-related patent applications has increased significantly since 2018. The CPC code G06F showed the highest eigenvector centrality, while G05B was characterized by highest betweenness centrality. According to the predictive model, 41 novel links were revealed, acting as potential technology convergence opportunities. These links were then categorized into 11 different domains. The most dominant category was "digital data processing and artificial intelligence", which could play a foundational role in the diffusion of digital twin technology. The presence of digital twin technology is dominant in manufacturing, but its applications are expected to expand, including "climate change", "healthcare" and "aerospace engineering". The derived insights can support R&D managers and policy makers in formulating R&D strategies and directing future R&D investment decisions.

  • This paper proposes a low-Power DDC(Digital Down Converters) architecture for IF(Intermediate frequency) signal processing. It is shown that concept of conventional interpolated FIR filters can be expanded to IIR filters for DDC applications. Also in the paper, power dissipations for the proposed architecture and conventional ones are estimated.

A Cost-Effective Land Surveying System for Engineering Applications

  • The field of land surveying is changing dramatically due to the way data is processed, analyzed and presented. Also, there is a growing demand for digital spatial information, coming primarily from the GIS (Geographical Information System) user community. Such a demand has created a strong development potential for a new land surveying software. An overview of the development and capabilities of a land surveying software platform based on the Windows system, SurveyingMap, is presented. Among its many features, SurveyingMap provides a lot of adaptability for networks adjustment, geodetic and plane coordinates transformation, contouring, sectioning, DTM (Digital Terrain Model) generation, and large scale mapping applications. The system output is compatible with well known computer aided drafting (CAD) /GIS packages to expand its scope of applications. SurveyingMap is also suitable for non-technical users due to the user-friendly graphic user interface. The system could be used in engineering, architecture, GIS, and academic teaching and research, among other fields. Two applications of SurveyingMap, extension of field control and large scale mapping, for the case study area are established. The results demonstrate that the system is adaptable and reasonably priced for use by college and university students.

Open API-based Conversational Voice Interaction Scheme for Intelligent IoT Applications for the Digital Underprivileged (디지털 소외계층을 위한 지능형 IoT 애플리케이션의 공개 API 기반 대화형 음성 상호작용 기법)

  • Voice interactions are particularly effective in applications targeting the digital underprivileged who are not proficient in the use of smart devices. However, applications based on open APIs are using voice signals only for short, fragmentary input and output due to the limitations of existing touchscreen-oriented UI and API provided. In this paper, we design a conversational voice interaction model for interactions between users and intelligent mobile/IoT applications and propose a keyword detection algorithm based on the edit distance. The proposed model and scheme were implemented in an Android environment, and the edit distance-based keyword detection algorithm showed a higher recognition rate than the existing algorithm for keywords that were incorrectly recognized through speech recognition.
