A Development of Thin Client based Video Guide Service Using Video Virtualization and WebRTC (영상 가상화와 WebRTC를 이용한 고사양 저가 단말 기반 화상 안내 서비스 개발)

  • In this paper, we have developed the application of a remote multi-lingual video guide that allows interaction with Set Top Box of a thin client by using the WebRTC, an web browser-based communication method. A server accesses a web camera in conjunction with digital information display of a thin client connected remotely and is exchanged guide information with user. This server can be played in thin client STB using virtualization based the high-quality video compression technology. Further, it is not dependent on the performance of the STB and provides a video guide remotely.

A Prototype Architecture of an Interactive Service System for Digital Hologram Videos (디지털 홀로그램 비디오를 위한 인터랙티브 서비스 시스템의 프로토타입 설계)

  • The purpose of this paper is to propose a service system for a digital hologram video, which has not been published yet. This system assumes the existing service frame for 2-dimensional or 3-dimensional image/video, which includes data acquisition, processing, transmission, reception, and reconstruction. This system also includes the function to service the digital hologram at the viewer's view point by tracking the viewer's face. For this function, the image information at the virtual view point corresponding to the viewer's view point is generated to get the corresponding hologram. Here in this paper, only a prototype that includes major functions of it is implemented, which includes camera system for data acquisition, camera calibration and image rectification, depth/intensity image enhancement, intermediate view generation, digital hologram generation, and holographic image reconstruction by both simulation and optical apparatus. The proposed prototype system was implemented and the result showed that it takes about 352ms to generate one frame of digital hologram and reconstruct the image by simulation, or 183ms to reconstruct image by optical apparatus instead of simulation.

Video Digital Doorlock System for Recognition and Transmission of Approaching Objects (접근객체 인식 및 전송을 위한 영상 디지털 도어락 시스템 설계)

  • Current digital door lock systems are mainly designed for users' convenience, so they have weakness in security. Thus, this paper suggests a video digital doorlock system grouped with a relay device, a server, and a digital doorlock with a camera, sensors, and communication modules, which is detecting or recognizing objects approaching to the front of the door lock system and sending images and door-opening information to users' smart devices. Experiments showed that the suggested system has 96~98% recognition rate of approaching objects and requires 17.1~23.9 seconds for transmission on average, depending on network systems. Therefore, the system is thought to have enough capability for real time security response by monitoring the front area of the doorlock system.

  • Smart phones, greatly expanding in the recent mobile market, are equipped with various features compared to existing feature phones and provide the conveniences to in several ways. The camera, one of the features of a smartphone, creates the digital contents, such photos and videos, and plays a role for the media which transmits information, such as video calls and bar code reader. QR-Code recognition is also one of the camera features. It contains a variety of information in two-dimensional bar code type in matrix format, and makes it possible to obtain the information by using smart phones. This paper analyzes the method of QR-Code recognition, password method-the existing user-authentication technique, smart card, biometrics and voice recognition and so on and thenn designs a new user-authentication technique. The proposed user-authentication technique is the technique in which QR-Code, which can be simply granted is read by smart phones and transmitted to a server, for authentication. It has the advantages in view that it will simply the process of authentication and conteract the disadvantages, such as brute force attack, man-inthe-middle attack, and keyboard hacking, which may occur in other authentication techniques.

  • Recently, many studies on the construction of management system for road facility have been accomplished, and in its process the digital map is used as the essential data for spatial database. But in case where the existing topographical map or completion map of construction data is not sufficient for Data Base construction, the compilation, modification or renewal of digital map should be conflicted with large obstacles. This study intended to extract the road facility information using the image data of various form such as aerial photographs, terrestrial photographs and so on. The terrestrial photographic images are taken by hand-held camera, digital camera and video camera which are widely used and of low price in general. This study used the single frame images only for the raw image data, and the extracted spatial and attribute data from the images are used for modifying and updating the database. In addition, the creating possibility of the digital map in the relative scale using the spatial data extracted from the single images was tried.

  • If vibration occurs due to fast movement of the robot, the camera image is unstable. No longer the eyes of a robot can not perform the role. Research methods for the stabilization of shaky video is required. The most popular method is to use the motion vector. But, the drawback to this method will require a large amount of operation. And the limits of the embedded robot. Therefore, in real-time transmission of images to be difficult. This paper proposes a motion sensor using the image stabilization. Uses data that is output from the motion sensor. So, not related to the progress of the robot movement is a way to remove it from the video.

  • The flow induced by a circular jet vertically impinging under a horizontal plate is investigated by visualization technique, using kerosene smoke in nitrogen gas to visualize the flow in the vortex as well as under the plate. The light source was the sheet beam of Ar-Ion laser. The vertical and 3-dimensional images of vortices were recorded by the digital video camera.

  • We have developed a control electronics system for an infrared detector array of KASINICS (KASI Near Infrared Camera System), which is a new ground-based instrument of the Korea Astronomy and Space science Institute (KASI). Equipped with a $512{\times}512$ InSb array (ALADDIN III Quadrant, manufactured by Raytheon) sensitive from 1 to $5{\mu}m$, KASINICS will be used at J, H, Ks, and L-bands. The controller consists of DSP(Digital Signal Processor), Bias, Clock, and Video boards which are installed on a single VME-bus backplane. TMS320C6713DSP, FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array), and 384-MB SDRAM(Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory) are included in the DSP board. DSP board manages entire electronics system, generates digital clock patterns and communicates with a PC using USB 2.0 interface. The clock patterns are downloaded from a PC and stored on the FPGA. UART is used for the communication with peripherals. Video board has 4 channel ADC which converts video signal into 16-bit digital numbers. Two video boards are installed on the controller for ALADDIN array. The Bias board provides 16 dc bias voltages and the Clock board has 15 clock channels. We have also coded a DSP firmware and a test version of control software in C-language. The controller is flexible enough to operate a wide range of IR array and CCD. Operational tests of the controller have been successfully finished using a test ROIC (Read-Out Integrated Circuit).

Displacement Measurement of a Floating Structure Model Using a Video Data (동영상을 이용한 부유구조물 모형의 변위 관측)

  • It is well known that a single moving camera video is capable of extracting the 3-dimensional position of an object. With this in mind, current research performed image-based monitoring to establish a floating structure model using a camcorder system. Following this, the present study extracted frame images from digital camcorder video clips and matched the interest points to obtain relative 3D coordinates for both regular and irregular wave conditions. Then, the researchers evaluated the transformation accuracy of the modified SURF-based matching and image-based displacement estimation of the floating structure model in regular wave condition. For the regular wave condition, the wave generator's setting value was 3.0 sec and the cycle of the image-based displacement result was 2.993 sec. Taking into account mechanical error, these values can be considered as very similar. In terms of visual inspection, the researchers observed the shape of a regular wave in the 3-dimensional and 1-dimensional figures through the projection on X Y Z axis. In conclusion, it was possible to calculate the displacement of a floating structure module in near real-time using an average digital camcorder with 30fps video.

Implementation of a Thermal Imaging System with Focal Plane Array Typed Sensor (초점면 배열 방식의 열상카메라 시스템의 구현)

  • A thermal imaging system is implemented for the measurement and the analysis of the thermal distribution of the target objects. The main part of the system is a thermal camera in which a focal plane array typed sensor is introduced. The sensor detects the mid-range infrared spectrum of target objects and then it outputs a generic video signal which should be processed to form a frame thermal image. Here, a digital signal processor(DSP) is applied for the high speed processing of the sensor signals. The DSP controls analog-to-digital converter, performs correction algorithms and outputs the frame thermal data to frame buffers. With the frame buffers can be generated a NTSC signal and transferred the frame data to personal computer(PC) for the analysis and a monitoring of the thermal scenes. By performing the signal processing functions in the DSP the overall system achieves a simple configuration. Several experimental results indicate the performance of the overall system.
